  • Yeah, this "live" acoustic version of the song from "Playin' Hooky" is really even better than the original recording. The drummer is Billy Kilson and James Genus is on acoustic bass. This track is on the "Casino Lights '99" double CD on Warner Bros. Records.

  • diggin it.

  • That rhythm section is LAYING IT DOWN!!! I really dig Bob James!

  • has bob james ever played with pat metheny? That would be sick

  • nice chill out there!

  • If there was a club/lounge that played this stuff.. I'd be there everyday of the week with a glass of wine in hand :)

  • This is amazing. I will listen to anything by bob james. This is guy is a legend. Even the background for my computer is about him.

  • i saw this music yesterday on tv and fall in love with it it´s just amazing and wonderfull

  • Chill'n on your Channel, this is so breezy and cool, i am rock'n steady tonight...after a long day of holiday merry making, this is just the place to relax and let the abstract visions that this music conjours up,float thru. I think I am even typing in time to the jazz beat. Thanks for the vid, and showing your talent on YT. Glad to be here too. Love it Luna

  • Excellent song, what inspiration de Bob James. Felling for play piano and the others instruments. One of my favorites. Thanks.

  • That groove is smooth, that groove is so good it moves and soothes!

  • The cello is focking fire! Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like what was used in a Tribe Called Quest Song. Anyways I have a whole new appreciation for jazz, pure instrumentation..

  • Well I don't wanna sound like I have no knowledge, but that clearly is not a cello because he's just using his fingers. Can someone please tell me what the name of that instrument is?

  • its a guitar!

  • its a cello .... i don't see the problem with finger playing? :|

  • It is called a string bass, played either with a bow (like a smaller cello is played) or with the fingers, as is usual with jazz.

  • Hey thanks man.

  • its called a double bass...

    cheers

  • Contra bass....

  • double bass

  • Incredible bass line! Drums! and well piano!

  • I too love "Westchester Lady." I've listened to that tune since the 70's and it brings a smile to my face. I'm a Westchester lady. I grew up there and still miss it. I love Westchester, NY. GOD BLESS YOU!

  • "Westchester Lady"also has nice groove!

but it's too hard for Japanese musicians to play it like them.

    BTW

    How about Westchester, NY?

I'm so glad to talk about music with someone like you!

    Thank you again.

  • As someone mention about...

The whole video is called a DVD Casino Lights 1999.

It seems that it must be out of print.

Adding to say, this clip I posted is one which I recorded before.

but Bob's clip was this only one.

    Sorry...

If I find his clip more...

I promise that it will be posted more!;)

  • james genus on bass

  • Who is that "Terror" on the bass ??!!He is Bad to the bone!!. Take note folks,a good bassline gives more that tempo, it brings texture and carries the whole shebang. Listen to "Westchester Lady".The bass made me fall in love with that song.Kudos to Bob for putting it all together.

  • james genus on bass

  • I've been listening to Westchester Lady since the 70's. I love that song!! I am a Westchester lady. *giggle* I lived there for most of my life. I truly miss it. I'm considering going home at this point. GOD BLESS YOU!!

  • Wonderful! I close my eyes and just let it take me away.

  • thaks bob

  • Yo, this my favorite tune. I hear it all the time on the station, but I never knew it was Bob until now. I sorta lucked up and found it.

  • I love this version. Is there an album of his where he plays this version cause i like how it sounds on piano instead of Boney Jame's sax version. Boney's is cool too.
