somebody mention about what GBA stands for.. "god bless america" so ive heard! hehe kinda an ironic name "you have the funds and size and power to make some change..."
just saw this video for the first time. Nice words Dave. You know what, I wish what you wrote here about people concentrating on the things that are close to your heart got out into the media more. There has been so much backlash. There are so many promblems in the world, but if we all focussed on those that effect us the most and those we are passionate about, maybe together we really could create a better place.
whales are dolphins are amazing intelligent living creatures .... i take my hat off to people like rasta putting there life / world aside for a moment to focus on the slaughter takin place ..... I respect the way in which you stated this is not an anti japanese thing ..... its a help the whales/ dolphins out thing......these creates exist in harmony within the coasts / ocean and have a simple right to continue to be !!
Actually we did meet with some of the locals from Taiji and we were able to educate them on the mercury issue. However, the fishermen were not interested in meeting with us. IF we didnt hold some kind of media event, no one would listen to us or even know about this issue around the world.
As you would expect.. the 'crying' gets a lot more airtime than the rest of the work that we did.. communicating with the locals and doing a peaceful paddle out to bring attention to the issue. I doubt very much that you could go there and not cry if you saw what was happening in that bay.
Oh yeah, and go ahead and feel free to give my posts two thuimbs down, I won't get angry, because I know that's going to make all the difference in how people view the world. *sigh*
I find it funny that she is playing the "save the dolphins" card. Really... I realize they are cute and in movies people like to smile when they see a dolphin and everything, but they are animals, just like cows, pigs, birds... I mean this is just another case of the save the cute ones, and screw the ugly ones. Was she at the AMERICAN farms last week, where MILLIONS of chickens and other animals are slaughtered EVERY MONTH? I doubt it. *cough* *cough* *hack*
Thanks for your feedback.. However, I am a vegetarian. I do not condone the slaughter of any animal and I am active in helping to stop all forms of animal cruelty. I am particularly interested in dolphins as I come into contact with them often as I am in the water a lot doing my mermaid work. It is a case of pick something close to your heart and do what you can, as you can't champion every single cause on the planet at the same time.
I applaud what you are doing Hannah, ( I love your mermaid work) and I agree with what you say we can all pick a cause that is close to us and do our best to save what is precious. It is important to bear witness to these horrific events and report on them. Thank you for being there and for posting. I abhor cruelty to anyone or anything. I hope that the killing is stopped that awareness grows and you continue with your work to highlight this for us. Love and Light ..
That depends which country your referring to. And yes, I have been to Japan. Lived there for two years. It's probably why I understand when the rest of the world gets upset at our amerikan culturistic imperialism, well that and traveling the world my whole life.
It's one thing to go there and educate these fisherman, show them the data and let them decide. Then of course it's another to go there with a TV crew and cry in front of the camera. *shrug* There is a real problem, I see it all the time when I do get a chance to watch aAnimal Planet, but mostly I like Jeff Corwin, but this person is not helping the situation.
we need people like that!!!!

I really hope someday that they can stop this. It's worse than human slaughter that happens now-a-days, easily.
Thanks for posting this Hannah.

Dolphins are not farm animals that we breed and then slaughter. We can have pigs and chickens to
produce more than a hundred offsprings a year. Dolphins can only bear one young per pregnancy and
yet 14,000 dolphins are killed every year in Japan.
