Unless your limiter is set to 7500 on a motor that can't handle anything past 6800 metaphorically or spraying giggle juice bouncing the limiter then there is really not much harm. I used to bounce mine daily...and as did my buddy..
I hate the sound of rev limiters, that's just letting everyone know the driver was too slow to shift in the optimum range, not to mention, what might have happened if it had no rev limiter.
The only time he over reved was in 1st.. I do it all the time in my 95 5.0.. the tires break loose and its gonna do that with no traction... especialy a maro that makes a decent amount of power stock! Its gonna break the tires loose just play the gas pedal till you hook up and be ready to shift when it gets to the top of the curve... LS motors are prolly the best out there so a lil high rev won't hurt nothin. I still pull at 6000rpms so I shift at 6100 and red line is at 5900. Just know ur car.
1st off , if you want to be able to shift fast, change the syncros to dog rings, that will help. I can shift 3x faster without using the clutch, just have to match the revs. It takes talent you don't have yet, just being honest.

My M6 TA always wants to not go into 3rd gear when im trying to romp on it. None of the gears are smooth at all like a civic or something. seems like it kind of hangs up on somethign before going in gear all the way. I have to shift into 3rd gear surely but slowly because it feels like it has to be forced in, if im trying to haul ass and force it too hard sometimes it slips into 1st when im supposed to be shifting to 3rd which is a recipe for disaster!
You should shift without letting off of the gas. Also, shift before your engine redlines. I'm sure you have already blown your engine from above action, so this comment is probably useless.

Don't worry, as long as your not making ~500+HP/TQ the T56 will take that abuse like a champ, after you start making big power like that you'll need to beef it up. Nice car!
Dude don't hurt yourself or your transmission. You let go off the clutch too early, even an ls7 wont handle that for very long. Don't jerk the shifter with such force, remember smooth is fast. Get a short throw shifter, it helps you shift faster and smoother. Though you have to apply a little bit more force with it, but still not as much as you did in the video. "See how your hand slipped off the shifter"
You need better tires, move your seat up a little, you don't need to shift 1st gear at red line or after it's been on the limiter, you will pick up by shifting out of first at 5k to limit wheel spin.
sometimes the rpms of the engine and the spinning of the transmissions with how fast you want to shift it will kick the shifter out of the gear and you can see that when he slaps into 3rd this has happened to me and it hurts like a &#^$& but its not a mistake on the drivers part but something that happens to people who actually push there cars or race.
Bud...I was building LT1's before there was any such thing as an LS1. I'm just saying it's not good for your motor given the harmonics created by the rotating assembly at high rpm and all that sloppy shifting isn't making you any faster. The LS1 you have is a tough SOB and will take it's share of abuse. My daily is a fairly stock 96 Z28M6 and I'm currently building a Butler headed 1970 455 for my 78 T/A. Take care of that killer camaro man
@76Mossgold that tends to happen when you're spinning in 1st. And regardless what urban legend tells you, bouncing off the limiter like that isn't doing any harm to the motor, thats the entire reason its there,,, to prevent damage.
instead of lifting your foot off the gas just keep it down and use only clutch, bad for cluch but traps a lot higher. if you get it just right it will not ever hit rev limiter
this is why i dont buy used cars...

there's also ups & downs to it.....
under normal conditions clutchless wears out syncros faster.
using the clutch wears out the clutch faster.
& anybody who drives a tractor trailor or semi truck will tell you the same,
it's also 1000 x's easier to replace your sync than dropping the tranny on one of those things....... ask me how i know, lol.

Dude don't hurt yourself or your transmission. You let go off the clutch too early, even an ls7 wont handle that for very long. Don't jerk the shifter with such force, remember smooth is fast. Get a short throw shifter, it helps you shift faster and smoother. Though you have to apply a little bit more force with it, but still not as much as you did in the video. "See how your hand slipped off the shifter"

You need better tires, move your seat up a little, you don't need to shift 1st gear at red line or after it's been on the limiter, you will pick up by shifting out of first at 5k to limit wheel spin.

sometimes the rpms of the engine and the spinning of the transmissions with how fast you want to shift it will kick the shifter out of the gear and you can see that when he slaps into 3rd this has happened to me and it hurts like a &#^$& but its not a mistake on the drivers part but something that happens to people who actually push there cars or race.

Bud...I was building LT1's before there was any such thing as an LS1. I'm just saying it's not good for your motor given the harmonics created by the rotating assembly at high rpm and all that sloppy shifting isn't making you any faster. The LS1 you have is a tough SOB and will take it's share of abuse. My daily is a fairly stock 96 Z28M6 and I'm currently building a Butler headed 1970 455 for my 78 T/A.
