I went to the Blackpool Pleasure Beach with school last week and it was throwing it down with rain ALL day. I still went on Valhalla though (a water ride.) Laugh out loud!
A true classic I really love this ride! but how did you manage to record the ride while holding on to the bar and your recording device at the same time? I`d love to try recording it myself but I don`t know how
the only reason it was slower was because it was taken from the front and the back end of the coaster has to catch up before it goes down the hill, try watching a video of the ride from the back.
I find it strange that a side friction coaster was made as late as 1928. This ride was originally from France but was moved to Great Yarmouth in 1933. Most side friction coasters were made before the 20's. The Cyclone on Coney Island from 1927 is a million times scarier than this...Doesn't make sense! However, this is a great POV and I really enjoyed it...A real classic!
Also, most coasters during the 1920s were "side-friction", but most patrons didn't really care. A 1920s era roller-coaste wouldn't really "scare" people today, but back then, it sure was scary! ;-D
im going to great yarmouth tomorrow hope i see this rollercoaster there :D

We had a RCCGB club trip a few years ago, and the last ride of the day involved hardly any, or no brakes until the final bend.
This ride is a classic, long may it run.

At that slow speed, who would even consider adding trim brakes?

The operater of this ride must have been scared as he had the brakes on for that really fast bit as it's not fast in this particular go you had.

1932 it was built here. So 77 years it's been in Yarmouth. And first built in 1929. Still going strong though :D

I know it's the same length but for some reason that felt faster. What would happen if the break man didn't apply the brakes?

I have a very old postcard of this and it used to have mountains painted on the side of it.

Does anybody else know why this ride makes that horrible screeching noise at certain parts
SeeBask 3 years ago
Just the breaking by break man

i've heard thats theres nothing holding that thing to onto the tracks,so only thing stopping you flying off the track is that brakeman in the middle!
autistickid11 3 years ago
You have heard correct =] This is currently the only one of its type in operation as the Scenic at Margate had a fire
