He doesn't count??? I"M NOT ALONE!!! It's music you gotta feel. And as he says, if he's thinking he's not feeling, and it screws up his playing. I love this guy more and more..
I'm from Sweden but never heard Haake himself pronounce his sur name, but I pronounce the A's as the A in Neanderthal (didn't really come up with a better example). The E isn't silent. It's like Hak-eh. Hope it helped.
Its sucks being Scandinavian in America:P Both my first name and last name have been pronounced about 13 different ways each:P I don't really care though
My last name is German, so different rules might apply, but mine is spelled "Haase" and it's pronounced "haahsa." like "ha ha." The syllable on the end is pronounced, but it's very subtle.
Well, no xP Not like in the bird hawk, im sorry I confused you. Its more like haaaakE. Damn, its really hard (you pronounce the aa like in "hard" btw ;D) to explain from swedish to english. It doesnt really matter anyway :P
Looks like the back room at the Gothic or Ogden in Denver. Yeah those back rooms are incredibly small and not the rooms you see with shit loads of food and drink. They're also right below the very back of the stage so that's why is so loud.
I find it extremely funny that the members of Death, Black, Hardcore, and just any type of 'metal' are so chill and cool in real life when put in comparison with some thankless-to-be-famous softer bands... How in the hell does that shit happen?
Uh huh... Plus, I think metal bands, as they are not exactly mainstream or anything, have to deal with the fact that those fans that they do have are few and far between the swarms of 'pop' fans. They understand, much unlike Chris Cornell, that the only reason they are playing on stage is because there are that few people willing to see them.
It's cause they let the music and act speak for itself, and aren't full of themselves, like bratty pop stars. They simply don't need to be full of themselves to look strong or cool, like them.
They probably just trained altering their accents towards an american style, swedish english accents truly suck. Trust me i'm swedish myself and any swede would agree with me.
if you were to type it in english the way it is pronounced it would be Hawkay...I've met him a couple times and this is how he says it. Trust me. He named one of his snares the "hawk" so he could call it Haake's hawk so it would sound silly like "hawkays hawk"
I don't like those questions where the answer is gonna be bleedin obvious. Like "What do you think of Denver?". The second a isn't pronounced, but otherwise you're close, except the weight is on the e at the end, so it becomes Hea(rt)-chE

i thought i heard someone pronounce it "hay-kee" haha. i would really like to know how to pronounce it though.
musicmantrev 3 years ago
You pronounce it like "haw-ke" with a "strong" e at the end, like in ear :P Kind of hard to explain.
ltholtz 3 years ago
so basically you say it like hawky?
musicmantrev 3 years ago
Well, no xP Not like in the bird hawk, im sorry I confused you. Its more like haaaakE. Damn, its really hard (you pronounce the aa like in "hard" btw ;D) to explain from swedish to english. It doesnt really matter anyway :P
ltholtz 3 years ago
so like "hockey" then?
musicmantrev 3 years ago
Hockey is quite close, if you're American. The last syllable is different though, making it Hah-ge(h).
The letter K is not aspirated (hence the G) and the last syllable is pronounced very short. You sort of stop it short right after the E letter.
Pesseh 2 years ago
Fonetically it would be "Haahkuh", so with a long "aa" (as in "aah", not "ay"), and the end is a very short "uh" as in "huh?"
Hope that makes sense. =)
