  • I love the motor man, its nice to see other people building up the SOHC. I am building one for my '68 datsun roadster. I considered running an ITB setup as well, so i would be interested to hear how yours runs! I have heard the ITB setup is very beneficial for high rpm motors, but it doesnt build much torque. I bought the SOHC motor because of how torquey it is, so id like your opinion on that.

    I agree with everyone else, we want a video of it running (no music) and revving!!!!

  • Sorry to disappoint you, but I actually bought my car completely stock. All performance mods were done by me with my money. I post the shit I post because of the idiots who refuse to admit a dohc head is better. I thank you for admitting it. It's cool that you did what you did to be different. I just would've gone down another road.

  • Wow. You are truly a dumb shit. And for several reasons. 1.) I'm sorry you got all your car knowledge from watching fast and furious. 2.) This guy is building an N/A KA24, so your 500tq and 450hp numbers mean pretty much nothing in this conversation. 3.) The torque an engine makes depends on how well it moves air, or breathes. If you think a single cam, 8 valve head really flows as much or more air than a twin cam 16 valve head, then congratulations on being the biggest IDIOT on the planet.

  • Oh its a known fact huh? I'd love to see your proof. I can tell by how you talk that your automotive knowledge is slim at best. Yea ok torque is produced lower in the rpm range than hp.

  • But like I said before (which you probably ignored) is that the torque an engine makes DEPENDS on HOW WELL IT BREATHES. Don't tell me that a single cam 12 valve head breathes or flows better than a head with twin cams and 16 valves because that's just stupid. If it wasn't better & more efficient, Nissan wouldn't have bothered using it.

Le Mans, F1, SCCA, etc. I'm sorry but I think its lame how mainstream and popular drifting is now. So you watched Tokyo Drift and decided it was cool, and now you call yourself a drifter. That's nice.

And unlike you, some ppl think outside the box and spend money/time on a build instead of outlaying the cash on a pre-built one.

Oh and duh, it's built for club days/hill climbs, turbo's aint worth shit there!   • Actually, you're 100% wrong. I hate NOS, as well as decals on cars, so my car has neither. It's not my fault my nearly stock Supra is faster than some old FWD shitbox Nissan with a "built" single cam KA. This guy could have dropped in an SR or a DOHC KA- Turbo and make some serious power. But he didn't. Oh well. By the way that rev counter on the dash? Super fast and furiously GAY.

  • Anybody who brags about an NA Supra is a complete jackass. I'd almost rather have a single cam KA than an NA Supra. Almost. If I had the money for an Mk4 twin turbo, I would have one. But I don't. So instead, I have an Mk3 hard top 5 speed with a mostly stock 1jz. I'm curious to know what you drive.

  • you obviously havn't been around long enough because nissan uses the single slammer for there road races and there has been 250hp n/a carbed single cams. I'm not a tuner so I can't explain how its easier to tune for n/a but I have talked to pro's and thats what they all say.

  • No I have been around long enough to know that Nissan did race single cams. I know the old Datsun 510s were all single cam, and all the Z cars had L series single cam engines. But my point is that Nissan had also been using dohc heads on other cars, probably japan only cars, like the first gen skyline gtr, since the late 1960s. They knew way back then that dohc was the way to go.
