The U2 crisis was 100% America' s fault. They were afraid of communism and so being nosey wanted to spy on their nuclear weapons. If that was a Soviet plane shot down over the USA they would have milked it as propoganda and rubbed it in the USSR's face. The fact that Gary Powers didnt commit suicide just adds to the irony. AND of course... the BBC is justifying it, making him into the victim.
