I actually think the song JUST FINE without the sampled lyrics! I actually personally think Fergie and will.i.am added that part to help make the song sound more like a classic throwback R&B tune. Sort of to give it that extra flavor.
Either way with or without sampled lyrics its a Ferg classic! ! !
The horn part where polow da don sings "can't help it/ the girl can't help it" is from an old Juan Gabriel song. I got it on vinyl, ill try to look for it.
If people are mad at Fergie (or her producer) who's probably responsible for it and not her... then get mad at Kanye West who can't produce a song without sampling. Most of his album is ... like 85%.......it's a good song with and without the sample! - prefer it with tho!
If people realized how many songs were directly influenced by previous songs they wouldn't be concerned bout Fergie's sample. It's a good fukN song so shut the fuk up!
whoever is bitching about sampling. Sampling has been around since the 50s and it won't ever stop. U can tell by how many songs Elvis stole. He didnt bother sampling he just took the whole shit! If it wasn't easy money, artists would stop sampling. Fergie got it goin' on so whomever doesnt like her song can just watch her sexy azz in the video with the sound off!
That's so false, this song samples little richards the girl cant help it, the clicky sound comes from deee-lite's great song who was that and also samples mc lyte's "poor georgie" which in turn also samples toto's "georgie porgy" please get your shit together dude before you speak
The fact that MC Lyte sampled Toto's "Georgie Porgy" has NOTHING to do with Fergie....
And secondly,
Clumsy doesn't sample MC Lyte's song.(The Clicks)are an "interpolation" of the beat, which is a BIG difference than a sample because she didn't reuse actual music from the existing song. It was recreated.
Of course I had already watched it, I was just telling you how much songs does it actually sample. Clumsy DOES sample the beat from Poor Georgie, and the Toto part, I just said it to illustrate how much samples do hip-hop artists use.
Now about the "interpolation" thing you are talking about, you know that's a lame excuse, you could say the same thing about Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight, since it also used actual musicians playing Chic's track, It still was sampled anyway, ok?
People, stop the gripping. Sampling (which is different from ripping off an entire song off) is apart of hip-hop. This is not the only song on the album that was sampled (Here I Come... where actually the entire song was sampled and Fergie still ripped it!)
There's nothing wrong with her using the sample for the chorus.
And as I told one of the complainers, it wasn't a rip off because Bobby Troup, the writer of The Girl Can't Help It got co-writer credit for Clumsy. Seems like if his heirs are getting their royalty checks, everything should be cool.

You had me until you said "black eyed peas" because black eyed peas suck more than anything that has ever sucked before.

The beat was ripped off from Bloodhound Gang-A Lap Dance Is Better (this song was made way back before Clumsy came out)

The sample is STILL there throughout the song. If u take the sample out it would sound like "Beep, Ba, Beep, Ba, Beep-Beep Ba!"

the only part that's a sample is the phrase "cant help it the girl cant help it."

And if you listen to my edit, you'll hear that I removed "The Girl Can't Help It."
so maybe you need to get your shit together and read (the About this Video Section.) And actually watch a video before you comment on it...

@Official360 That's called 8-bit analogue synthesis. :VVV Not everything is samples. It's called MIDI recording.

Flumpsman, you're right. The song is good w/o the sample. But the sample did make the song hotter...

I LIKE THE PART "Can't help it, the girl can't help it"
