  • you are a good teacher...i want more of you on cs5 plz plz plz...

  • AJ this was very helpful! Can you show us how to add a matte with shadow, then put text below it? so we can print it out

    THANKS

  • Hi AJ, great videos! Just started with Photoshop and I have a long way to go.

My question involves removing a background from say, a car and saving ONLY the car as a file, say a jpg. No white background, no frame, just the vehicle. I've tried removing backgrounds from pictures of vehicles, but when I save them as jpgs, I wind up with the vehicle and a white rectangular background. How can I make a jpg showing only the vehicle?

Thanks, Gene from Cherry Hill, NJ.

  • @meangene1000 - The reason for the white background is JPEG images do not save transparency. If you're using the image in print, you can add a clipping path to the image to knock out the background. If using the image on the web, save the file as a PNG to preserve the transparency.

  • @ajwood2001 Thanks and keep those videos coming! I'm still having some difficulty with masks and related work. But with the help of your instructions, I'll get there.

  • BILLY MAYS!!!

  • Happy New Year AJ.

    Greetings from Athens, Greece.

Thank you for another great tutorial!

    Take care

  • 2 problems,

    1. My model has a small blue outline to it.

    2. How do you get such a perfect skin color to paint with, the eyedropper?

  • @xXStodoXx - I'm not sure I understand your statement. Does the model have a blue outline before or after you make your selection? If there is an outline after the selection, you could use Refine Edge to tighten (choke) the selection outline smaller. Regarding the skin color, yes you can use the Eyedropper Tool to sample the from the image.

  • Sometimes not be the Quick Selection tool minute

    How to use it correctly??

Is it possible to explain to us this important tool in the video??

  • what if I want to change an image at the background? can I do this on CS5?

  • @kayangthaoo - yes, you can do that with CS5 and other versions of Photoshop. You might look at my tutorial on using the Background Eraser.

  • for some reason when i invert it,it just doesnt show..is that because iv got a light background to start with ?

  • you are the best...thank you

  • U R the BEST!!!!! Thank you so much you help me heaps!!!!!

  • 0:33, skip to tut.

  • hi A.J , i was trying to change the colour of background , but when i invert it,it remains same though the colour of musk changes white to black , whats the problem?

  • Really like it

  • thank you very much sir AJ. God bless....

  • hi aj how about if i have 2 subject to put quick selection tool how to do please?

  • @darbats - the Quick Selection Tool is in "add mode" by default so if you have two subjects with a space between them, you can brush each one individually but still have a single selection. If you want each subject to be a separate selection, you would need to brush them and create separate layers for each subject.

  • nice.. thanks man... well explained video...

  • cool tutorial....

  • Thank you very much

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!! I love u man hehe

Im doing a special photo for a friend that passed away. she is gona look great.

    Ty

  • Thanks , it is really so helpful in a professional way

  • I love this video, however, after I make my selection, I go to hue saturation as you say but I don't get that symbol in that layer. It shows the circle that is half shaded but not the one that shows in your video. What am I doing wrong? I have attempted it numberous times.

  • @nicki05100 - without seeing your steps, my first thought is make sure you're adding a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer not choosing the command from the menu--Image--Adjustment--Hue Saturation. Also, depending on your version of PS the layer icon might appear different but you should still be able to edit the adjustment.

  • love it thank you!

  • very helpful :)

  • thanks

  • Sweet!! Thanks Heaps!

  • so how would i turn the background to a gradient?

  • Very straight to the point keep them coming I sub

thanks...can this be used on complex backgrounds?

  • @fletchersdad - the overall selection might be harder to create, but the technique should lend itself to most backgrounds.

  • On the money! Clear, fast, with easy to remember steps.

  • Thank for revealing features like Refine Mask. Could you please post a separate tutorial on Refine Mask as also Quick Selection Tool where there are many colors in the background and an image has light edges that blend into the background. Thanks.

  • @pradip27 - thanks for your feedback. If you look at the playlists on my channel, I have already recorded one video on the Refine Edge command. I will be happy to expand upon that tutorial in the future, with more insight into the Masks panel & Quick Selection Tool.

  • Nicely done! Thanks

  • Sound like you got a cold hope you feel better.

    Nice video also.

  • Very good A.J.

  • nice tut
