    Great Work Ken Thanks.

    Kieran

  • @kodonnell66 yeah, I do a series of exercises and then don;t put my hard songs up front. I pace myself until I know for sure where I am at vocally.

  • haa whats up chris cornells cousin

  • r u in a band

  • @revolutiongeorge I have been in many many bands

  • @kentamplin wot bands?

  • can i ask something? how do i fix my voice because it every time i try to sing my throat feels dry and it makes my voice sound creaky, although i drink prently of water, but it still gets dry....?

  • damn your good! i have problems sustaining my tone on high pitch...(ends up sounding squeeky, cracking or almost nothing but air with no tone like a soundless scream...)

  • Hilarious & awesome at the same time!

  • just found out that demo song is a famous one from the sixties which i cant remember ever hearing before, but hell ken every time i watch this demo i am filled with glee

who says old guys cant be cool!!

Ken its the way you sing it and do it !!

  • just found out that demo song is a famous one from the sixties which i cant remember ever hearing before, but hell ken every time i watch this demo i am filled with glee

  • @MrFootballfu It's from Creedence Clearwater Revival, the song is called Fortunate Son ;-)

  • Ken I have a couple questions. Is there anyway I can purchase your cover of " Fool around and fell in love?" I literally cannot stop listening to it, your vocals really made that song. And two, can I send you a demo of me singing so you can evaluate my voice? Thank you.

  • @Alexander87oclock send me a request to my assistant Rob Hart at ktvainfo@gmail.com Include a sample of your singing for a free evaluation

  • great advice what you said about 2 or 3 songs thats me i can sing anything but hard rock im good for 1 or 2 songs thanks for the info ill put it to use thombs up!!!!

  • you are really and truely a bad ass amazing but i can get my vocals to belt it kinda cracks a little what should i do ?

  • Love it see say if simple man was high like this awsome song is I can hit te hi note

  • sadly i cant...my camra is broken and my web cam doesnt do videos

  • Hey Ken, So my problem when I'm singing is my voice sounds shaky in a way. I don't know how many people have this problem but if you have any tips that would be great! Thanks!

  • @argymnast that is usually a sign of little or no diaphragm support. SEnd me a sample of your singing

  • I bought stage 1 And as I do my exercises I notice my voice still breaks a lot. I really want to improve my singing and I want to know how long it will take me to get were I need in order to be a good singer.

  • @anie887 You do know that the stage you bought comes with a free 10 minute web cam consultation?

I suggest going to the web site, and e-mailing my assistant Rob off the e-mail on the fron of the web site so he can book that for you and I can see how you are doing.

  • Hi Ken Tamplin. I must say I love your voice and your passion when you sing both covers and your own songs. I would love to hear you sing a Dream Theater song called :Another Day: just to hear how cool it would be to hear you hit those high notes during the song =) Love and Respect from Norway =) keep on rocking =)

  • Great stuff Ken! You are by far the best vocal coach I know because you can actually prove that your method works! I have been watching your free videos and I can already hear a big difference in my singing. I'm thinking about purchasing your DVDs however I would like to know if there is a demo of what I will be getting as far as vocal exercises. Thanks!

  • @rgonzalezz08 sorry I don't have any demos. if you like the way I sing, I lay it out step by step in the videos and then provide 1 hour audio workouts for each stage that correlates to the video material. By the time you get to stage 3, it will seriously kick your butt and grow your voice like mad

  • I actually really DO NOT like this type of music %90 or more of the time, but WOW, his voice is undeniably great.

I actually want to hear more..

    (cyber clapping)

  • Here is a Video of me and my band, after about a week of rehearsals, doing this song, and another CCR song, If you could hear the difference in how I sound now, just from what I have picked up listening, and watching you and reading your free advise, I think you would be happy. I look forward to being able to start my lessons with you Ken, and thanks for all the help I have gotten from you from this point already.

  • you are the sickest man i've ever seen on youtube. teach me to belt?

  • @playinggod123 this is what I do at the academy

  • hey ken tamplin, i wanna sing like michael buble. i wanna know how you get the bass in your voice.

  • @doucheofwellington have you sent me a sample of your singing so I can check it out and see where you are at? I remember you funny name doucheofwellington ha ha

  • THIS IS AMAZING!

  • Mr. Ken...How can I not be flat? i have a very deep voice but i do not wanna sing that low... my wife is always laughing because i'm flat.....help!

  • @solderjon People usually sing flat because they cover (darken) the sound of their voice. It's also because they come from underneath the sound rather than placing the sound on top of the note. Addidtionally, when people build up pressure in their heads (like the guy cruising by on the boardwalk who's singing with headphones on...bloody aweful). All of these things contribute to going flat. I have a dvd series that comvats this on the ken tamplin vocal academy.com web site

  • Wow! WOW!!! Obviously you know this already but your voice is friggin amazing!

  • Hey Mr. Tamplin,

I'm curious if you have a technique for getting one's tone quality to sound what I can only call "growly." I refer to singing like David Draiman's of Disturbed, Chris Daughtry, and Chad Kroeger. You can also call this "rocky," but I hear growls, smokiness, etc. I hear it from you at times too. It occurs a lot at lower pitches, so is this a result of singing vocal fry higher up for the above singers? Do you understand what I'm referring to? Wisdom on this much appreciated :)

  • @darkmechz Really good tone comes from great technique. Tone isn't something that happens overnight. It's seasoned and takes time to get...

  • damn. i would love to be able to sing with that kinda power

  • @KevinIsMyNinjaMonkey You can if you work at it!

  • @kentamplin iv been trying to get better. im not to bad now. but i want to improve my voice to make is stronger.

  • ken. i am soo scared to cross over from my "normal" voice to my whatever the next voice is above that. I mean, not falsetto but whatever that closed, high pressure voice is that you sang most of this song in. I can start out in it but I can't sing normally and then easily get into it.

  • @jshealy how can I help you?

  • @kentamplin maybe I can sing something for you if I can find a song that passes from my normal range to that higher register. I just don't have any tracks so I'd have to sing with the recording and that might negate anyone hearing my problem/question.

  • @jshealy I don't need you to sing to a track, I just need a reference of where you are at vocally to give you the advice you were looking for...

  • @kentamplin I guess I don't know exactly how to show you what I'm talking about then, or if I'd even be able to replicate the problem. Thanks for your concern.

  • @jshealy YOU CAN ONLY START TO TRULY CONNECT AS LOUD AS YOU CAN SING (in other words, don;t sing heavier than you can connect without hearing that yodle between chest and head. Sing as soft as you need to in order to connect. Then, little by little add more sound to it... this will help you

  • @kentamplin thanks very much for your help. i guess that has been the problem, my "regular" voice is no where near as loud as my "mid-range". don't know why that never occurred to me.

  • I implore all of you that aspire to be a singer that has not gotten Ken's DVDs yet. Go back to THIS video, and listen to what he says in it 3 or 4 times even. I have been singing professionally for 15 years and never opened my throat all the way and was, in essence, strangling my self every time I sang. Throat was always sore and could only do 2 or 3 quality shows a week. Listen to this vid and do what he says. Start here until you get the dvds. Thanks again Ken. This one helped a lot!!!

  • @fairump2003 thanks fairump. You are dead on the money. I kinda laugh sometimes when I know I am giving people the holy grail to this kind of singing biut there is sooo much "noise" out there, people don't know what to believe. The bottom line it "The PROOF Is In The Singing." Open throat is key combined with support and then later correct compression. I break this down into these simple componants because this IS the essence of great singing. Yes there is MUCH more to it. But this is the core!

  • WOW!!

    That was amazing!

Ken, can you please check out my video and criticize me on what im doing.

You are an inspiration to me and I really would love to become an amazing singer and make it to the big time.

Thank you and rock on \m/

  • @joespades93 you are using almost no support at all which is seriously inhibiting your power. Also, you have closed down all your vowel sounds (like you are literally "choking off the chord" which is also keeping you from range, power and clarity. I cover this in my DVD series on the ken tamplin vocal academy. com web site

  • @kentamplin thank you Ken. I really appreciate it. I'll take all the advice I can get :D

  • very good ken. very good.

  • ken.. you're one talented bastard. great song

  • hahah, That looks like me in the car. The only place I can practice is in my car on the thruway. Sometimes people are like WTF is up with that guy. hahahahaha Man what a great display!!

  • Loving his whitened teeth... Very Rock'n'Roll :P haha

  • I've been watching a lot of your videos and see u actually answer questions for a lot of people. i think thats really cool that u give time to read and answer all of them. This seems pretty legit and u obviously know what ur talking about. I'm interested

  • i was taught to push down and out (360 to be precise) and to keep my throat open like you said but when i do it i feel like im choking on my own air and it's a really uncomfortable way to sing, what am i doing wrong?

  • @sistagirl488deleted You're not "keeping" the back of your throat open and you are not rruly using correct support and you are confused about what glottal compression really is.

I cover this in my DVD series on the ken tamplin vocal acadmey web site.

  • Hey Ken! I've been using Stage One/Starter DVD for Dudes and it's really been helping me develop my voice. I plan on getting Stage 2 after payday :]

I just had a question on breathing. When you say 'push down on the diaphragm' is it just keeping your stomach tight or is there a specific feeling your looking for?

    Thanks again!

  • Wow, this is simply amazing... I am so inspired! Thank you so much, Ken!

  • That was mind blowing... what got me was how you stopped singing and just spoke like normal, no shortness of breath... no nothing after belting that out better than the original!! If I have the money spare Id buy the full dvd. more vids Ken.

  • u fucking rock man

  • also is there a school of thought as to why bon jovi cant sing what he use to be able to sing (i use bon jovi as an example, there are others such as axl rose) but here you are into your 40s and singing right off the bat as if we were hearing a recording. Did you do any kind of warm up before you started this video?

  • @TariQmorningstar This is presicley why I started Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy. Very few people have "studied" what it takes to obtain and maintain good vocal health. I have spent about a half a million dollars (yes you heard that right) on my voice and have studied under some of the greatest vocal coaches this world has to offer and have developed a technique that not only preserves the voice but it actually gets better with age (like working out correctly). and yes I am 46

  • @kentamplin well you dont look it.. hen you're clean shaven you look 35 easy lol.

surly though ken there is a school of thought that would suggest your voice is unteachable?? your born with most of it.. I have heard maybe under 10 people in my life that can sing to that standard... I'm thinking steve tyler, axl rose, steve perry etc. even so, your voice is more powerful in the middle upper than most. so can you really teach what you have to someone and have them sing to that standard?

  • @TariQmorningstar When I was 19, I would blow my voice out almost every night. I could hardly speak the next day. I decided I would change that and set out to study the voice like no one I knew had. YOur voice is a muscle and functions exactly like any muscle in your body. Even if you are a "small framed person" you can still develop powerfull muscles, strength and endurance. So it is with the voice if done correctly.

  • this is it.. exactly what we were talking about.. that relentless belting.. if i get stage 3 does it explain it all for my ability level or is it like building blocks having to start at the beginning?

  • are you mixing mixed voice?

  • @chaoden No, I am belting in the upper mid section of the voice. In this song I use no head chest mix.

  • @kentamplin Hey Ken, I have a question, how do you make your vocals, have that i guess you say, "vibrato" sound? cuz i really wanna learn to be a good vocalist, so i was wondering, how do u make your vocals vribrate like that?

  • Mr.Taplan, or may I say Ken? I watched every video youtube has to offer on you and I am completely Floored. Your voice sends a very clear definition to where I want to be. I HOPE ONE DAY I CAN AMOUNT TO THAT! Please, if you could look at my channel and my songs to possibly give me some constructive criticism...I WOULD ME MORE THAN GRATEFUL! THANK YOU AND TAKE CARE.

  • Inspirational....and I was at the Shout show at the Marquee in London. in the late 80's..sneaked in as a 14 year old..and it made me want to sing...thanks.

  • How did u get that rasp?

  • @mrlandroverdiscovery I use a special kind of vocal compression that allows me to do that without blowing out...

  • Were you born a natural or did you work at it over time? I know a girl who never took any vocal instruction and she sounds like Cher to the T, is there a natural requirement or can most anyone learn to sing well?

  • blows ccr away

  • Awesome voice man. I REALLY WANNA LEARN how to sing and it seems very hard to do, of course its a rocky road, but im willing to go through that. life's a climb but the view's great. i wanna learn how to sing like the jonas brothers, david archuleta and other singers. and i know you say we all have our own unique voice. and i wanna learn how to use it.

  • You may want to check out the different singing stages I have up on the site. They will totally rock your voice!

    -KT

  • Wow that was just amazing... I'm a bass player and after watching that makes me wanna take lessons. I love how you're belting out then you just start talking like it was nothing... lol... you have any of your students living here in Virginia???

  • Comment removed

  • Your voice is better than the singer in the original song

  • thanks for your kind comments :-)

    -KT

  • All I can say Ken is, I love this one, Awesome job!!

    T

  • Ps

    Fortunate was mispelled. That's the admin in me :-}

  • I enjoy learning your techniques. I'm not much of a singer these days, but 20 something years ago I sure wanted to be Ann Wilson! I used to belt her songs out and tried so hard to sound like her. Haha! You make it seem so easy.

  • Holy Hell, you are fantastic.

  • fun to watch. i like your raspyness. Do you have any tips on how i can develop it?

  • Outstanding.

I've learned a few cool things from other instructor's videos but you are the first that made say "Whoooaa ...If I can save up a few bucks, I for sure want to take lessons from this coach."

I didn't think anyone else could pull that song off but you did a great job. You sing your talk.

  • Thanks for your comments :-)

    -KT

  • thats awesome i wann do that lol

  • this sounds effin great!

  • that was cool,,my style varies,,,i have a raspy sounding almost male like but i'm a female,,,,,,,i always have trouble with high notes or screams ,,,but i practice,,,but end up losing the vocal and get hoarse,,i think i'm trying to hard,,but from what i see your good and i look forward to seeing more from you,,this is so cool and very helpful

  • I'm curious, you have this amazing low resonance while you're "belting." I can get that raspy thing while not sqeezed when singing high, but in a mix or chest it seems much harder. I notice a lot of covers of "poundcake" doing pretty much the same thing but Sammy does it at a lower pitch and it seems that you do too. My question is, when I press in, I mainly get a clean tone that's louder and clearer, are you using glottle compression alone to generate that awesome overdrive?

  • I'm actually allowing myself to be pretty throaty on the sound but because I am cutting back so much air, I can close the throat down a little for the distortion but not "choke off" the chord giving me more low end reasonance...

  • I love the way you sound!! The way music was in the 70's and 80's was so great!! The music allowed you to belt it out like you just did. The music today doesn't. That guy off American Idol, Adam Lambert, may be our dream come true. He loves to belt it out like you just did. If he stays true to his style when he wins tomorrow night he just might bring that type of music back to this era;-) I'm hoping and praying!!!!

  • Ken what about a man like me 40 who is 6'3" and used to have the vocal range of steve perry? i don't have that range anymore yet i heard some older still hit the notes. how can i get it back?

  • You truly do continue to exemplify 1Pet 4:10 with great humility and grace.

  • Thanks man

  • Your welcome, thank you.
