@kenzzzhou It counts as an armor hit, or something like that. You do the EX dash punch command as if it were a perfect parry (and by perfect, I mean you have to do the move exactly when the fireball's in your face) then continue with the Ultra command.
It's hard if you do it like, ch. b, f+pp (armor hit) b, f+ppp. It's much easier if you do ch. b, f, b+hold ppp (armor hit) f+release ppp.

He was holding back, did forward+focus attack, then quickly back again, forward and then + PPP or KKK. If you do back, forward+FA, back, it looks like you just do a backdash, but you all FA at the same time. That's why the Rog player was able to focus the first hit of the EX Hado, then go into ultra.There's a video about it on YT if someone wants to know more about it.

Ok, I'll just say this and not argue because arguments get really dumb around here. Ex rush cancel into ultra makes the ultra attempt safer. If the fireball never comes out, you just do the ex rush punch. If he does the fireball it cancels into the ultra. If you try to guess fireball and throw out a random ultra, its much more dangerous than a ex rush punch. That is why you would do that cancel instead of a straight up ultra. Option Selects are HUGE in high level play.
@Nydrin not to mention that the ex rush absorbs the fireball n therefore builds the ultra meter!! although very rare, it might be that 'one' fireball that gets u the ultra n get u a win!!

It's a very strict frame cancel for Boxer, Chun for example is faster dashing and can do the same with less restrictions. Anyhow, on melee range is one on a f***g trillion.
Yeah, that was an EX armor cancel. Abel has a similar glitch using EX change of direction that allows you to add armor to his ultra, roll, and tornado throw.
I think it was just ultra dood at the perfect time. I could be wrong but I think you have to finish your dash before you can perform a move. Also an ex ball will take a focus out of commission. I'm willing to bet it was just a well timed ultra.
If the ex cancel was the reason (I really have no idea), I promise you pros spam buttons too :) It's not that pro's have the sickest timing (albeit some do) its that they know how to utilize advantages in the system for them. I bet you anything when pros are rushing shit out, they hit a button more than once. I even hear them suggest it to people.
That's nuts if it was an ex move that didn't register. I didn't know ex moves could be canceled into something though.

its not a normal focus tho, it IS an EX cancel into ultra, since its a glitch it doesnt recognize the EX focus since it goes right into the ultra.. this also is the same situation as kara cancelling a super.. it doesnt consume a bar and super will still come out
oh and you can also double armor that only consumes 1 bar
He canceled the Ultra armor on that dash punch. The game takes that as a HIT and let's you cancel into Ultra. Same can be done for any attack that has a it absorption part to it. Example: Gouken's parry.
the reason why its possible because for some reason, the game registers the move if you input it in a split frame.. within 1frame i think
same goes for double armor..
its a regular ultra charge.. but what you do is simple
ch b. f.PPP or f.KKK (this would register your EX dash punches) then back forward PPP or KKK again.. its simple to do against a EX fireball or RYu's super.. whats really difficult is RYU's ultra.. that requires a split frame second
I think He did a focus attack, dash back, and did a Ultra Right then. The reason why I think its not double armor is the fact that the EX hadoken was still there when he did the ultra, Double armor mean the 2 hits both got absorbed
Man... the game actually slowed down because of the input, that or it just wanted us to see something unbelievably ridiculous. That was a super clutch ending with Taison's victory over Daigo. Very good stuff!!
its easier if you just slide your fingers down or input 1 section then the next on the buttons while inputting the ultra motion, it'll make your execution better

instead of your interpretation as B, F B+PP THEN f+PPP

as for the ex not draining. It's because he cancels the ex immediately it doesn't registers the ex actually being used.
So he could theoretically also absorb 2 hits if he were to cancel an ex for another ex and still use 1 ex bar total.
I don't think anyone using ex cancel to ex tho in their practical regime.

Well, if you FA lvl2 or 3, You can start charging TAP as you release FA, dash back, release TAP, then Ultra(not a cancel) and it'll link.

Usually the kara-dash into ultra isn't that important, as ultra cleanly goes through fireballs of any # of hits.
However if your ultra bar isn't full yet it could charge it up a bit before it goes off. ;p

ch. b, f, b+2P/2K, f+3P/3K
That's the easiest way to do it. Not b, f+2P, b, f+3P.
ch=charge
b=back
f=forward
2P/K=two punches/kicks

@pinoy929: as somebody already stated: kara-cancelled ex moves don't use up any meter.

An EX kara cancel/armor cancel doesn't waste any EX bar, it's a bug in the game, and it's not a focus cancel... just google "Balrog armor cancel".

You're wrong. It's a focus. Boxer's meter doesn't go down one bar when he cancels into Ultra.

no, you're wrong. ex rush to ultra doesn't use any meter. that's why you didnt see a bar get used. its somewhat of a glitch.

It's used to confirm the ultra. If Daigo didn't hadouen, the ex rush wouldn't have cancelled into ultra and instead he would have just done ex rush.

Assuming the armour cancel thingy is just to by him a little more time with the Ultra input in case he could have otherwise got hit before he completed it.
Curious that it didn't cost him any EX meter though. Is that normal for the technique?

its kara cancelling, normally you kant cancel anything into an ultra unless you FADC
its not a normal focus tho, it IS an EX cancel into ultra, since its a glitch it doesnt recognize the EX focus since it goes right into the ultra.. this also is the same situation as kara cancelling a super.. it doesnt consume a bar and super will still come out
oh and you can also double armor that only consumes 1 bar
however these shenanigans only work with boxer

He canceled the Ultra armor on that dash punch. The game takes that as a HIT and let's you cancel into Ultra. Same can be done for any attack that has a it absorption part to it. Example: Gouken's parry.

it counts as kara cancelling,
the reason why its possible because for some reason, the game registers the move if you input it in a split frame.. within 1frame i think
same goes for double armor..
its a regular ultra charge.. but what you do is simple
ch b. f.PPP or f.KKK (this would register your EX dash punches) then back forward PPP or KKK again.. its simple to do against a EX fireball or RYu's super.. whats really difficult is RYU's ultra.. that requires a split frame second

I think He did a focus attack, dash back, and did a Ultra Right then. The reason why I think its not double armor is the fact that the EX hadoken was still there when he did the ultra, Double armor mean the 2 hits both got absorbed

Man... the game actually slowed down because of the input, that or it just wanted us to see something unbelievably ridiculous. That was a super clutch ending with Taison's victory over Daigo. Very good stuff!!

this was not a dash ultra. this was an ex kara cancel of an ex dashing straight to Ultra. not that hard to do but you have to predict the ex move.
charge B then F B+PP ,F+PPP
i can get it but not on the drop of a dime.

its easier if you just slide your fingers down or input 1 section then the next on the buttons while inputting the ultra motion, it'll make your execution better
for instance
charge B, F+PPP, B, F+kkk
instead of your interpretation as B, F B+PP THEN f+PPP
your kara wont be accurate in that case

I love the way the game hits big slowdown right as the Ultra starts up, like the game itself is going 'OH SHIT WHAT THE FUUUUUCK'
