  • +1 for the police

  • 6:07 .... Nazi Hippie

  • Oh boo hoo jujemufeh you arsehole, one mistake and the media is all over it like a plague, do you realise how much work the police have to do! Stop fucking moaning you stupid twat! It doesn't matter if it was a peaceful protest, it was illegal, the police informed these idiots that blocking a public highway was illegal, and they still did it! If you disobey the law, you deserve what you get in return!

  • @jhackney1990 so how else are you supposed to protest?

  • Is it my idea, or is it that the police man in riot gear on the bottom-right of the screen, just when the circle highlights the man being punched (after the slow-mo) (at about 7:48-50) is in fact jamming the camera?

So, the police are a) allowed to record everything with the FI, but miss recording Tomlinson's assault (and any other violent police actions), and b) that they are allowed to jam any other media present.

    Right.

  • F**k off you bunch of hippy c**ts! They should of sent in the tanks and crushed their self righteous skulls! Do these idiots realise how uncomfortable their pathetic little lives would become if the government did everything they asked, job well done Met Police, I congratulate you on a tremendous job, I especially liked the beating hippies part.

  • masturbate much over the police?

  • dude, wheres the part where they drop napalm on them.that would be cool as all the jelly fire would be chanelled between the buildings

  • @jhackney1990 I'm 17 and LOL at your level of intelligence.

  • this vid really kicks off when the Police move in.....shame i had 2 wait till 4.00...4.57 shows what happens when you dont move when asked, so does 7.50.....oh and by the way, thanks to the "happy camper" who assaulted my friend.

  • cont........ the next thing to address is the debt based monetary system which encourages excessive consumption! i personally don't agree with the global warming hypothesis and i think it is taking valuable resources away from real environmental challenges

  • yawn! the preposterous thought that people are responsible for climate change. outrageous arrogance! what i find puzzling is that these people want to encourage the same'big brother' which beat them, to enforce carbon capping! how misguided!

if you do think we are responsible for climate change, the first thing to address is energy exploration subsidies across the board.

  • I have so much respect for you guys.

I think if you are going to be a cop (whatever age) you already have a right wing leaning.

    How can I help?

  • To all the people who actually participated in the climate camp on the day I admire your bravery so much - the media so over hyped this day that it was always going to kick off, and to actually turn up and get involved is commendable

  • I have lived in London all my live and the massive over reaction on this day is frankly so un-warrented and so un-necesary its impossible to support the police action, especially in the light of such peaceful protest - keep up the fight!

  • There seem to be rather a large number of unidentifiable police.

Everyone must do as they think morally right.

To obey without question is simply wrong.

  • When people wake up and see "climate change" or "global warming" as it was called in 90's, or "global cooling" as it was called in the 70's, for the scam it truly is...they will understand that the cap and trade system is just a means to consolidate control of production of the entire world into a few "green" hands...

Climate change is a farce and is being supplied by the same people giving you the cap and trade system as a solution.

  • Well done climate camp.

This whole excercise has exposed the horrendous policing tactics in the UK, and drawn the public eye to the corruption of carbon markets.

Solidarity. Such a good party, too.

  • Climate change campers and especially the film makers I salute you. A clear coherent film that shows police response to peaceful demonstrations. This is why the Black Bloc and WOMBLES took the fight to the mercenary gangs of the capitalists. And for this veteran of protest over the last 50 years they didn't start a day too soon.

  • Great. My home country is a fucking police state.

  • sure 'nuff made a nasty mess on that street...all the rubbish and papers. Hmm.

  • Could it be that they left a mess because the police forced them off the street without giving them a chance to clean up, Baby?

  • yeh that hippy music was awful

  • the police and this fascist government are quite simply S.C.U.M and they will fall one day!down with Nazi fascists and by the sounds of a few of these comments on here some people have their heads up their arses & will proberbly do anything the government told them!ahhh!

  • Just look at all those hippies playing music.

  • blocking a highway is a crime, but it's not a violent one. the police should have asked people to move and then arrested them if they didn't, rather than beating them up. this is a shameful and thuggish response.

  • there was no crime committed in blocking those roads. it was a planned protest and the police knew that it was going to happen.

  • I'm torn on this. It seems protesters didn't attack officers, but jumping on a police van & blocking a public street are wrong. In my country public streets which are in use by the taxpayer/citizen and whose use is would be infringed cannot be blocked without a permit. In many jurisdictions they may not deny you a permit for the content of your protest but only due to inconvience. The police in some instances were ridiculous & protesters seemed well behaved but definitely gave voice to dissent.

  • Good stuff! Well done, I was at the bank demo during this but solidarity to the disobedient masses!

  • Even if you don't support the protestors you have to wonder why didn't the police just seal the protest off at a reasonable distance without hitting out. Protestors would go home when their supplies ran out.

  • because london cant be stopped britain would lose millions

  • What a laugh, there are more important issues at stake here than blocking a public road. Civil disobedience is our obligation when the government favours corporate interests over human and environmental issues. When the air you breath becomes so polluted that you can't bear to breath it then tell us how its not OK to dance on top of a police van.

  • The sad thing is he's only half joking folks.

  • Absolute rubbish

  • Are police are pussy cats .If happened in america, spain, france or many other countrys i can assure you that many others would have died.

  • You're saying that American, Spanish and French police would cause death to innocent, good-mannered people protesting for their right to live within nature's limits, breathe clean air and avoid increasingly frequent severe weather events around the globe etc...? On what grounds to you assure this exactly?? Moron.

Oh, and it's 'OUR' police, not 'are' police. Learn correct spelling and grammar if you want to call yourself 'captinbritish' - you idiot!

  • It's just a matter of time until Britain has its own Tiananmen Square.

  • nice video, five stars etc

whats up with cliché-overload at 6:35 though?

furthermore, why does it take someone to die before anyone questions the manner of the police?

  • awesome to see a video that actually reflects what it was like!

  • That was the sadest thin i EVER saw.........

  • Fuck the police!!! Hope these bastards die slowly from a horrible disease!!!

  • The constantly fluxuating Sun rules Earth's climate.

Peaceful Resistance to Global Tyranny is the name of the Battle

  • I think the ones in the day are bad.The police were out of control. However the ones at night are not.People shouldnt be trying to camp on the street, that is illegal they broke the law the police have a right to use force to move them. Maybe they were heavy handed .But maybe the police videos would show a different picture.Who knows??

  • There seems to be a special branch of met police composed entirely of a/ bastards willing to sell their values or b/ ex-military wanting a fight

This is Britain, and this must not continue. If the rest of the world is full of unjust absolute regimes that act like this then what sort of democracy is britain if the same images are being seen? There are a few rich gits who want to make people feel like they have no power.

  • I also think the BBC coverage of this outrage was very poor and biased towards the police. The TV coverage gave no indication of how peaceful and good natured the climate camp was. They only showed the violent confrontation which gave the impression that the protesters must have done something to justify the treatment. From this film it's clear the Police response was completely unjustified, disproportionate and outragious in a civilised society.

  • Attrociously policing. Criminally violent and heavy handed. So what if the protesters were a bunch of smug students and hippies who'd like us all to return to subsistance farming and living in dung huts without heat and light. They should be allowed to protest peacefully wihtout the riot police cracking skulls. The Met Police chief should be fired along with that useless tosser at the IPCC who tried to cover up the Tomlinson murder.

  • these cops are really bastards!

  • throw out this authoritarian government asap people! Well done to the protesters for being so strong

  • A.C.A.B

  • Anyone who can justify what the poo-lice did during the G20 is either a fool, or a brainwashed serf just like those hitting and harrasing legitimate protesters.

  • Don't go whining to the government to change anything - they won't, what they do is not for your benefit. You have to learn the letter of the law as it stands and how to use it back against them.

Check out the videos of TheAntiTerrorist on YouTube for a start.

  • There are far to many pseudonyms on here for my liking. You must all be police men with something to hide.....

  • You fools; what did you expect? Don't you realise that the state will refuse to be humiliated by your actions. It will assert its power at any cost.

Most of all, you should not have expected anything productive to come of your demonstration. There will be none of the reforms you are asking for.

Stop begging the government on your knees! It makes them feel very powerful. Instead, do something productive whilst ignoring the state.

The state & police are sick bastards, but WE ALREADY KNEW THAT.

  • Most of them look like normal people to me. Fuck the MET.

Any protest I have been to the police stay largely out of sight unless things kick off. Is that too hard?

  • It doesn't matter if you agree with the reason for them protesting or not. Everyone has a right to protest, its a free country. It was the same when the Countryside alliance protested against the fox ban; they had a right to protest without state interference. It shouldn't be the polices responsibility to stop protests, someone like the mayor should of negotiated a timely end and it would of ended peacefully.

  • Poor film, doesn't show both sides. And I don't just mean the police. I also mean the effect on some of us who had to dress down for fear of being attacked on those days by the soap dodgers.

  • FEAR? of those stinking hippies? they didn't look very scary to me. I think the only fear was that implanted in your head by the media. tbh you'd probably be safer in a suit, less likely to get your head kicked in by the police.

  • seriously your scared of these people? there a bunch of whingeing middle class hippies.

walking through any town centre in the uk on a friday night would be more dangerous than this mob.

Looks like the daily mail has warped your mind with fear.

  • I take from your 'dress down' comment thaat you are one of those highly paid parasites in the financial crime district that laughingly calls itself *the* city.

  • You assume too much.

I work 200 miles from London, but these idiot's actions were more far reaching.

  • If you think right and wrong is about what you think rather than what is the law then you're no better than 'them' are you?

The fact is the law says what they were doing was permissable, the law doesn't saw the police can use disproportionate force.

  • try searching for Sensemaking on wikipedia, there's a whole article about it

  • The classic response of someone who has nothing to contribute - ignore the question and ask something else.

  • Unfortunately you can't expect every copper to react professionally, it's just totally unrealistic. Just like you'll get some protesters dancing on police vans... You can see another copper pulling his IDIOT colleague away at one point, probably thinking the same you or I would.

The real problem lies with the govt placing this onus on the police. A labour govt. For shame...

  • Absolutely disgusting behavior from the police i wonder how they would feel if i did this to them.

  • xjadapinkettx,

The police violently cleared the camp away, and wouldn't let anyone back in to tidy up or reclaim their stuff. The original plan was to leave the street tidy - all three previous Climate Camps left the sites in a better state than they'd found them.

And for your info, there was a toilet tent and all the waste was going to be taken away and composted at the end of the event - except the police smashed it all up when they charged. Lovely.

  • Comment removed

  • The protesters look like a bunch of whining privileged middle-class hippies but they were clearly not violent.

The thing is that the police are basically the tax-payers employees. Protesters pay their wages as much as non-protesters. So they need to police in a consensual way. Why didn't they try negotiation first and arrange a time for them to leave?

  • To be fair to the police it takes guts to stand up to someone in a duffle coat when you only have a baton, riot shield and crash helmet to protect you.

  • Film ANY and EVERY copper's face if he's not wearing a number - he's only there for trouble if that's the case.

  • Information is power.

Film the police whenever possible & get the films out into the public. They have to know they are being watched & will be made personally responsible for their violence. (BTW - I wouldn't waste time offering the films to the BBC - they won't touch anything which makes the state look bad & have a long history of reversing the order of events on films in order to make protesters seem like rioters, while it is the Police who often start the trouble.

  • Here here!

  • 04:26 'this is not a riot'.

Thick people; if there were fewer than 12 of you you 'd have a case.

    The Riot Act 1714

  • bunch of soap dodging tards.

That one who sold out to Max Clifford has to be the thickest person i've ever seen.

  • This makes me so angry, so upset and so disappointed. As for comments saying it's one sided, the protesters don't take an oath to serve and protect the public, if they broke the law during these protests I'm sure they would've been arrested... Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? "Who will guard the guards?"

  • Britain - " the mother of democracy". And the BBC its fitting mouthpiece.

  • Simple:

People get hurt when there is a riot.

The police rioted, people got hurt.

  • Comment removed

  • Unbalanced? ok, if that's so, please send us the video evidence of the Camp for Climate Action that you have that shows any evidence to the contrary.

  • The police are nothing more than the private army of the wealthy. Rich people's bitch.

  • The cops have alot to answer to.

    Disgusting. PC 1984.

  • did you watch and listen to the whole video? it is clearly not a riot and if you honestly think that dancing on a van constitutes being hit in the face with a shield then you should go join the taliban.

  • Brilliant.

  • The only people rioting were the police.

  • haha 310 views to 5,337 in one hour! the power of the internet!

a terrorist is a radical who employs terror as a political weapon, what more proof do we need that the police are real terrorists

  • A terrorist is anyone who employs terror as a political weapon. I wouldn't exactly call the police radicals lmfao, but they're definately terrorists.

  • This video is now linked from the Times Online website with the caption:

At 4.50mins in to this clip an officer is clearly seen smacking a protestor across the head with his shield. At 7.49mins in an officer punches a protestor in the face.

I'm surprised that it currently only has 310 views, everyone else seems to be captivated by Susan Boyle(!)

  • you're a fool who needs to start thinking for themself. im not middle class, i've worked since i was 16, and i cant afford to go to university but i can think for myself and i can see what right infront of me. i suggest you look a little harder

  • Are you a copper?

  • dubzy81... u r a retard.....

  • So would I.

  • i bet you'll never see this on the bbc

  • lol I doubt the BBC would blacklist something even the Times linked to :P

  • that assault with the shield was nothing compared to what a lot of other people had to deal with. I met an 18 year old lad with a nasty deep cut on his eye brow from the edge of a police shield. he was too scared to go to the hospital for stitches because of the police. shame on these scum, if the MP's don't reign them in, the people will.

  • lets get these thugs off our streets, do people need any more evidence that police are brutal organised thugs, using violence against any and all when ordered. ACAB

  • One other thing. Man made climate change is a hoax. Ice shelfs grow and then break off all the time and the reality is that the Antarctic has cooled by1 degree F since 1958 and the amount of sea ice has increased by 43% Source: the National Snow and Ice Data Center, University of Colorado. Much research has shown that Carbon dioxide is the result of global warming it doesn't cause global warming. People fall for government and media propaganda much too easily.

  • Sea ice extent averaged over the month of March 2009 was 15.16 million square kilometers (5.85 million square miles). This was 730,000 square kilometers (282,000 square miles) above the record low of 2006, but 590,000 square kilometers (228,000 square miles) below the 1979 to 2000 average.

More importantly, the melt season has begun with a substantial amount of thin first-year ice, which is vulnerable to summer melt.

Source: the National Snow and Ice Data Center, University of Colorado.

  • daveashe Thats the arctic sea ice which is down 7% an insignificant change. I was referring to the Antarctic sea ice which is up a massive 43%. Global warming hoaxers cannot explain why the antarctic is getting colder.

  • you're right global warming is bogus but climate change is real and probably comletely natural but thats no reason for us to continue destroying the earth

  • It pays to do your own research - the surface area of the ice IS less than the average, but more importantly, there is a substantial amount of ice which is only one year old before we even begin the melting season.

  • deveashe I agree with you. On the artctic ice and on doing your own research too.

  • The police officers that used unnecessary violence should be disciplined. Most police behaved reasonably given their orders to be confrontational. Senior officers should explain their oppressive tactics and identify the parties on whose behalf they were acting. Police are there to protect the public and should have been amongst the demonstrators supervising a peaceful demonstrate and keeping order when necessary. The hostility between Police and protesters was avoidable.

  • i think protesting is all fine and dandy but good lord if police in riot gear doesn't just give me a boner

a boner of oppression, an oppresoboner

  • Stazi

  • Welcome to the British State. The Miners' Strike, Dundee Timex, Grunwick, Poll Tax, Wapping - if you protest too long and too loudly for comfort, UK State forces will come after you.

Maybe the sandal eaters will realise what actually goes on in the world after viewing this and reading the story. Or maybe not.

  • fool

  • One of the finer things about the UK is that police officers are (or should be) merely citizens in uniform, operating without masks or political bias. No policeman in Britain should ever go about his business with his face covered. If 'Captinbritish' would prefer his life to be controlled by a paramilitary gendarmerie perhaps HE should go and live somewhere else.

  • As those that promote CCTV and ID cards keep telling us: if you're doing nothing wrong you've got nothing to fear. The same rules must apply to police officers. I don't know what kind of Judge Dredd type of secret police state 'captinbritish' dreams of but it doesn't seem to fit with the British tradition of 'policing by consent'.

  • Your right... We should mask the police so they are free to beat and kill members of the public in safety.

It's not OK for members of the public to attack innocent people, but when the police do it, it's fine?

  • The police are only human they make mistakes. But can you find another riot/protest police unit in another country where they dont wear masks. And i will think you will find every knows whos in who in the police they do wear I.D numbers that why they have all been caught.

  • i feel sorry for you

  • "The police are only human they make mistakes"

The same applies to everyone else. Are you an anarchist? Based on the fact that you're obviously not advocating the abolition of the police force, I'm gonna go ahead and assume not. Then I'm also gonna assume you think its ok that when a member of the public makes the mistake of maiming or killing someone with a deliberate attack, there should be consequences. Should the police be held to a lower standard than everyone else?

  • IMO the police should be held to a higher standard. However when you look at all the crap the police take the times they are abused spat at.If a police office were stabbed how much coverage would it get, the police are treated like crap . If someone is shouting in your face calling you whatever would you take it ? or would you snap out. I know i would have snapped.

  • "IMO the police should be held to a higher standard"

Well? How does that square with your assertion that they should be let off the hook when they gratuitously attack someone because they 'make mistakes'?

  • Well lets put it this way . Could you stand there and take that with out snapping ?

  • Possibly not - but then, if they hadn't resorted to kettling it would have been a non-issue.

  • That not the policemens fault that what they are told to do they are following orders.

  • Then they should refuse their orders. Mutiny if necessary.

  • Like that would ever happen. And risk losing thier jobs?

  • In which case I have sympathy, but its the same issue as with military conflict - soldiers often aren't acting by choice either, but that doesn't mean you don't defend yourself from them if push comes to shove. For good or ill, their choice of profession makes them combatants - they just have to pick a side.

  • No i have sympathy for the police they were told what to do they did it (maybe they were heavy handed ) . Police officers shouldnt be held accountible for these actions it should be the poeple who issues such orders

  • I'd ideally like to not punish anyone at all, and in fact if I have anything to do with it then the coming of the revolution will wipe the slate clean for anyone who's committed even the most unspeakable acts in the past and give them a chance to start over - hell, even Rupert fucking Murdoch will have another chance if he doesn't croak before then. But unfortunately in the meantime we have to push for penalties against any power figures who abuse that power, in order to deter their colleagues

  • Not what was decided at the Nuremburg trials. Following orders is not an excuse.

  • You are right, the police do have a hard job to do, and I have nothing but respect for thoes who go out and do their job propperly. However, I am fairly sure "beating civilians when their backs are turned" is not in the police handbook. They are ment to be there to protect the public, not take any chance to take up violence, which is clearly the case in a lot of these reports. They are human, and do have a hard job, but they knew what the job involves when they took it.

  • Scuse me everyone, does this look like an admission that if a cop covers his face its because he's expecting to commit acts of brutality?

  • look around you, everything we do is controlled and monitored. do you really want to live like that?

  • I would rather live like this than what life we be like under green peace.

  • Like where bitch

  • What are you even talking about??

  • About "If people dont like it they can go live some where else."

So, are you gonna answer my question? Like where, bitch?

  • Where ever you like i've heard Canada is nice.

  • Not heard of Stephen Harper then I take it?

  • maybe because they are holding their hands in the air in demonstration of the fact...

  • What happened to those idiots dancing on the police van? Why aren't the police dealing with people like them? There must be a law against climbing on a police van.

  • Someone should tell GreenTV that midnight is NOT 12pm...

  • The worst offending Police officers in this film have hidden their identity with masks and balaclavas. Unless there is a risk of fire (and no petrol bombs are being used here) there is absolutely no reason for an officer of the law to conceal his/her face... not unless they intend to do something they know is wrong. Looks like it's the TSG that are the culprits (again).

  • It disgusts me to see the police acting like this. I hope all those involved in attacking innocent peaceful protesters are brought to justice.

Also, why do the police wear masks to cover their faces? Is it so that they can get away with attacks like this? You bet you it is.

  • Its so they can get away with attacks like tear gas (ie, without falling victim to it like everyone else). But I'd imagine the reason its opaque is so they can get away with more brutal stuff as well, yeah

  • No they are not a 'bunch of hippies', they are intelligent people that can foresee the damage that is being done to our planet, and are using their right to protest peacefully about Climate Change to get something done about it. If we left the decision making to people that shared your outlook the planet would really be in the shit... and I bet you would be one of the first to be moaning your arse off about that from the comfort of your chair.

  • Thank you for making this film and to the brave individuals who participated in the protest and behaved impeccably throughout. You are an inspiration.

  • That was an excellent film - I salute the people who filed and made it.

  • Kenigmatic - I hope you get smacked in thje face soon mate.

  • Don't rise to it. Its not his fault he's ignorant...well, not entirely anyway

  • It was a protest after all. The polices role is to facilitate your right to "peacefully" protest, not to whack a shield in your face.

I don't think they where troublemakers, I may / may not support what their about but I know that the police should not be acting in such an aggressive manner. Some members of the Met's TSG seemed to have acted in a very disgraceful manner. Of all the Met's units the TSG officers should be the one's who can cope best under the pressure, not cave in to rage!

  • Haha TSG is the offspring of SPG. They're known for their appetite for rage!
