hmm...i think '05 Buckeyes were better than '06 Buckeyes, but it's just my opinion. and the '06 Buckeyes were better than the '07 Buckeyes, again, just an opinion. remember that after Tressel pulled in that great class in 2002 everyone was pointing at '05 as the year to win it all... then he went out and did it three years early. :D
I actually think the opposite. Although I agree that the 2002 Buckeyes were downright amazing, I think '07 was better than '06 and '06 was better than '05. After a slow start, much like the 2005 Penn State Nittany Lions, the 2007 Buckeyes just practically steamrolled over everyone, including Wisconsin, Penn Stae, and Michigan. In 2006, although Ohio State was dominant, at least one win was due to lucky breaks. I think in '06, the Buckeyes on the field did better against Michigan than Penn State.
BTW, how did Illinois get that safety in 2005? Illinois sucked so bad that year that Joe Paterno gave them a sympathy touchdown with 2 minutes left in the game and the offense took a knee for the entire second half (except for a kickoff returned for a touchdown).
Illinois got the safety because of a bad snap on an extra point attempt... there should have been a penalty though...
at any rate, '08 is the best chance since '05, even though we made the BCSCG the last two years. there are 47 4th and 5th year players on this year's roster. there will be at least 15 guys drafted next April.
First time I've heard of that happening in a real game. I've seen it happen a few times in a football videogame, though.
I think that in 2008, the Buckeyes will win most of their games in dominating fashion, but get a couple scares, and may even lose 1 or 2 games (to Illinois or Penn State or both), but will continue the winning streak over Michigan.
Right now I have Illinois as my dark horse pick to win the Big Ten in 2008. I see the Illini losing just one game, possibly two.
I just realized how similar the 2005 Ohio State Buckeyes and the 2006 Penn State Nittany Lions were. Let's compare, both lost their marquee OOC game (05OSU - Texas, 06PSU - ND), OSU lost 10-17 to PSU in 2005, PSU lost 10-17 to UM in 2006 (but I'd say it was more similar on the field to the brutal 3-13 PSU loss to Wisky), both won bowl games they were expected to lose (OSU vs ND, PSU vs TENN), and both had some close wins over teams with a much worse record (OSU vs UM, PSU vs Minnesota).
hmm... i'll give you that but Penn State was better in '05. they were basically one extra play from going undefeated. and i think that the Buckeyes were better in '05 than the Nits were in '06. for the simple fact that the Nits lost three games in '06. you forgot that they lost to Ohio State... and the Buckeyes were favored against Notre Dame in Las Vegas by 4 points or so... but yeah, there are definitely some similarities.
True, Penn State was 1 second away from a perfect season in 2005, and I'll always believe that they could have beaten USC or Texas. The 2005 Buckeyes were about the same as, or maybe a little better than the 2006 Nittany Lions, but IMO most teams in 2006 were stronger than in 2005, and except for the Notre Dame game, the 2006 Nits played them all pretty good. I remember the Buckeyes in 2005 being favored, but most I talked to were saying that Notre Dame was going to embarrass Ohio State.
I'm not so sure. Ohio State was better in 2006 than they were in 2005 and in 2006 Ohio State had their toughest game in the Big Ten against Penn State. I think although '05 Ohio State could have beaten '06 Penn State, it would have been close, and could have gone the other way. Penn State in 2006 only lost one game big (Notre Dame), and it was only because of mistakes by Morelli.
2005 Ohio State was a good team, I'm not denying that, but would have had their hands full with 2006 Penn State.
Are you serious??? The 05 team was WAY better than the 06 team!!! Morelli was horrible for most games!!! And our secondary was rather wek in 06; just the front seven was strong.
Wait a second. I never said that the 2006 Nittany Lions were better than the 2005 team. I was talkin about OSU. I think the 2005 team was the second best PSU team of the 21st century.
Just saw the preview to "Perfect Effort" about De La Salle's 12 year winning streak. It looks like a pretty inspirational movie. Search for it on youtube or it's website perfecteffort (dot) com

'05 Ohio St. would've kicked the shit out of '06 Penn St. '05 Penn St. is a better comparison.

And the O-line was very young and struggled.

u made the movie a little late, i mean the season starts in a month
and all u did was put a bunch of the highlights from the same games together, u have to be creative a little bit
and by the way the song in the beginning is REALLY annoying
