  • inspirational!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love all his music . thank you for sharing this one.

  • A small guitar for a big man...Michael's music is awesome: many thanks for sharing it with us type 3

  • I saw this years ago as part of the VH1 "Montage", but never got to see the whole tune, only about twenty or thirty seconds of it. I wrote to VH1 about ten years later inquiring if that particular program where Hedges was featured guest/host, to no avail.

I am thrilled that you put this up in its entirety!

Today, it is Qing Ming Festival in China, I'm an American anthropologist here, and this festival is all about remembering those who have passed: I remember Michael Hedges.

  • Hey man, ty so much for uploading this. This song is just incredible...

  • as all hedges pieces and type3 posts, truly excellent.

  • It's amazing to hear how full it sounds even though it's so small. The slap harmonics sound wonderful. Even the artificial harmonics.

  • tuning is ''"D3 A3 D4 G4 A3 D4'' not ''D2 A2 D3 G3 A3 D4''

  • @rogiermusic I'm just listing the tuning as it's noted by the Stropes website. I guess it makes sense it might be an octave up on the parlor guitar, but I don't have any other verification.

  • @rogiermusic So the 4th and 1st string are in the same octave? They are both D4? I am watching this video and I can tell you that is NOT the case.

  • Very few guitarists can use such varied techniques in such a way that they are totally integrated into the arrangement and not a bunch of fluff. And by "very few" I, of course, mean zero.

  • This is amazing

  • You cant listen to this and not get wound. The Master.

  • Is it just me, or is his guitar insanely small?

  • @MrGameposter, It's called a "parlor guitar."

  • favorite tune next to Two Days Old***

  • my favorite tune of his next to Dirge

  • Brilliant song, love the version from the "Taproot" album also.

  • Thank you so much for posting this

  • Thank YOu SO Much !!!!!!

  • :) thx

  • keep in mind folks, that this was when

Vh1 was cool..... now everything on music channels is complete crap these days, and often doesn't have anything to do with music.... very sad.

  • Excellent!

  • legendary !!

  • This footage is priceless! It's too good to be true... Thanks for uploading it Type3.

  • Every bit of recorded video of him now seems precious. He's turned into something of a legend. I just wish I could have met, or just seen him play.

  • comment me back

    looking for friends lD

  • Geeez !Where do you find this stuff? This has to be one of the first recordings of Michael! Thanks so much-

  • I'd imagine it's late 80s, perhaps 1990 - prior to 'Taproot', one assumes.

  • sometimes I can not find the words for something so beautiful. thanks for this post.

  • Finally - something new! I thought there was nothing new out there from Michael - his is great. Thank you!!

  • Unbelieveable! Type3 pulls another one out of the hat. Keep em coming!

    Thanks!

  • AHHH!!!! More new footage!! Excellent! Is this filmed in his studio? Just curious. Thanx for posting more new stuff!

  • I know this is insulting, annoying and predictable: but if ANYONE has the tabulature for this song I'd very much appreciate a link.

    Thank you.

We now return you to the musical genius in question.

  • That was magic... Thank you

  • Thanks again! T3S - you're the most reliable Hedges source on the Internet!

  • Another piece of gold. Thanks T3S.

  • Thanks for uploading this Treasure! Keep up the Great Work!

  • Thanks a lot type3! This is the guitar he used for "Theme from Doodles" with Leo Kottke.

  • Amazing piece! "March" says it all, even if it is called "The First Cutting".

    Eoin.

  • Thanks for every thing T3S

  • I really like the sound of this, even if the audio is a little off.

Great find. Keep them coming T3S, we appreciate it.
