I know him. I was in masterclass with him when he was at the University of Kansas, and he did my drumline camp for my high school as well. I auditioned for him at KU, but he moved to IU Jacobs school of music before my freshman year of college. I was bummed. Awesome guy! Does a good James Brown impression.
I met him back in 2000, at a Missouri PAS Day of Percussion; attended one of his masterclasses. My college instructor hired him to give our percussion studio private lessons and masterclasses for the next few years, so I got to spend a lot of time with him.
He's a great teacher & a great guy. He gave me many opportunities. We also used to hang out quite a bit. It's weird -- now he's like a celebrity in the marimba world! I actually haven't seen him in years. I miss him (tear...)
Well there was a Marimba Festival here in Canberra (Australia) and Both Kevin Bobo and Gordon Stout were there and they are really cool guys. Bobo is just insane on the Marimba. Absolutely crazy.
Ha, that's cool! I actually study at Ithaca with Gordon right now, believe it or not. I just finished my first year. Bobo came and gave a clinic during the first semester. It was pretty cool.
Nicely done! It's finally nice to watch a video of this where someone doesn't try to bust the tempo!

I went to Ithaca College with Kevin Bobo. Great guy. As you probably know, Gordon Stout was his teacher at IC. Neat coincidence.
