  • Hows Obamy working out for you now.......Snake oil anyone!

  • Can you just tell us what Obama did to "DESERVE" this peace prize, 6 months into office? Which meant the vote was actually casted BEFORE Obama became president. So, I am just curious, what did he do to deserve this honor?

  • I look forward for Obama getting a second peace prize.

  • Seeing as I'm swedish (although the peace prize is norweigan, the "real" Nobel prize i swedish), I'd like to give my opinion on the matter.

Obama didn't deserve the prize, most certainly. He'd been in office for 12 days when he got it, so he hadn't done ANYTHING to promote peace. It's not his fault though, because what'd you expect from the committee who also nominated Adolf Hitler for the peace prize in 1939!

The peace prize committee is a joke, and we swedes make fun of it, true story.

  • Expand the wars and start drone strikes in Pakistan and you win a Nobel Peace Prize. At least it's not as disgusting as when Henry Kissinger won one for blowing Laos and Cambodia into smithereens.

  • It matters not what Obama does, people will hate him. If he found the cure for cancer....he would be accused of witchcraft and millions would refuse the cure because he is a "Socialist".

Sad really, as a Socialist myself, I find it funny that Obama has more in common with Reagan than any Socialsit government or leader I know.

  • another obama maniac

  • Barack Hussein Obama? You mean Barry Soetoro right?and yes he did ask for it actuallly. There is an application process to win the Award. He won as a war time President. I think that is what people are upset about. You should win Awards for what you do not what you talk about doing. President Soetoros' owners are very grateful for dumb white women like you that will side with your black man no matter how much harm you see him causing. Obama is your pimp you stupid whore. Get a clue!

  • No one was mad at Obama for him receiving the peace prize, they were mad at the committee that chose him for choosing someone who didn't deserve it, by Obama's own confession.

  • If everyone in the next generation of Americans is like you, then I weep for the future of this country.

  • I'm quite sure Obama DID NOT want to have this peace price, because he KNOWS that he doesnt deserve it. But let me tell you something; of the board of 'nobel peace comitee', all except one is hardcore socialists, even in term of europe politican standard, what would you expect from dumb down, norwegian socialist politician

  • You are painful to watch in this video. You come across as vapid, clueless, and dense. My ears hurt after 40 seconds so I just paused it.

  • You're awfully cute, too bad your reptarded.

  • "We won." Obama's people worked hard for that so he "earned" it and he can act "surprised." When he added more "combatants" to the illegal occupation in support of opium, oil, and foreign military bases we should all be supportive. It is our freedom at stake after all. Who else is in as good of a position as Obama to suppress the rest of the world and make the U.S. feel good about themselves anyway..??? I feel bad for the genius types that truly earned this prize through their own hard work.

  • I think happy thoughts and have $5.00, can I have one too? Is it required that first you lie and violate International Law? Please just let me know where to start while the value of the Nobel Prize remains at an all time low?

  • I PLAN to change the world too. I PLAN to solve world hunger, end pollution, protect the environment, bring peace to every country, and modernize the whole world... I just haven't yet.

    Peace Prize Please :D

PS. I've only been in office for twelve days since the submission of my peace prize app. K thanx baiz.

  • Serious? This video wants to call out why people were upset and you don't even TOUCH on the reasoning?

And saying we should be happy for what we have won but not pay attention to the means... That is just so naive! So it doesn't matter that he was nominated for it 12 days after he went into office? When in that 12 days, he lied about lobbyist in the white house and started a war in Pakistan killing dozens of innocents in just those few weeks? Don't be a blind sheep, preaching morals!

  • Its really none of our business that President Obama won the Nobel Piece Prize, it sure wasn't paid with your taxes dollars...

  • Obama is a joke and so is the 'Peace Prize' today

If Obama wasn't such and arrogant piece of work, he'd turned that prize down to start with. I'm angry that he took it!

  • Hi MJ,

I think the reason people are upset is because.. Obama winning a peace prize, is equivalent to you or me "winning" a masters degree on the day you enroll in the program. He didn't earn it. He won it. Does that sound reasonable?

He might as well have won the lottery then at least he can use that to pay off a pea size part of the record deficit he is racking up.

1.9 trillion in NEW debit, that is enough money to give every single soul in the US about $8000! I pray he vetos that!

  • @ebuhs

A unique quality of the Nobel Peace Prize, in relation to other Nobel Awards, is that it is often awarded to recipients who have not done much in terms of establishing peace between the nations yet, but have made pledges and promises to attempt making progress in global peace efforts. The Peace Prize has been awarded to many in the past who have done nothing in terms of advancing peace efforts. It is because of this, that your analogy is completely irrelevant.

  • Natural blonde.

  • Watched twenty seconds and then hit mute. Pointless.

  • 2 cents!!!!!!!!!! I was overcharged!!!! Ehhhh but your kinda cute so I'll let it go.

  • I think every word you say. I am 100% with it.

  • It's not cool. he just won it for being black, but he is just as black as he is white.

  • Did you vote for Bush and McCain, lady ?

  • I'm sure would say that if Bush won the peace prize. "Oh, good for us!"

  • Comment removed

  • I posted a comment on a ditzy blonde's youtube video.

    THAT'S A PEACE PRIZE!!

Lady, we are not mad at 'bammy 'bammy for that, we are mad at the Nobel committee. But they have been losing credit since they gave the Egyptian president (who committed genocide) back in the seventies. And to Jimmy Carter??? History's greatest monster?? what's up with that?

  • I'm sooo bummed! I've been watching yur videos & really enjoying them until I saw ur Obama-talk. We are angry b/c the nobel peace prize has become a joke. U seem to be so together on other subjects, I wonder why u can't see that this Obama-mania is very disconcerting b/c the man is doing a lot of VERY anti-democratic and anti-American stuff.

  • So I check your channel after unsubscribing since 2008 election to see if you still a member of Obama's cult of personality and you are.

You are confusing angry with confused. Anyone who is angry isn't angry at him for winning they're angry at the politicization of nobel prize which shouldn't come to a shock to anyone when you look at the past winners. The prize has been a joke for a long time.

    Socialist Corporate Fascist

  • @VonHOG stfu

  • Your right, but honestly I think people are mad because he has spent and done so many things and nothing has come out of it.. He is more hated than ever these days, I think he has a better chance of getting Impeached than GW Bush did.

  • FUCK U OBAMAMANIACS! I voted for BARACK OBAMA but not that obamaniac to think that all the things are going through with him is RIGHT! ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! HES ALWAYS RIGHT! Dont u ever think like that shit! those Swedish NOBEL PRIZE COMITEE just liked him! and gave him the prize for the HUGE EXPECTATION OF WORLD PEACE! OBAMA HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT WORLD PEACE! that says it all about this crap! alright???!

  • @IloveUSA1941 ....you have to be the most ignorant cock sucker alive...who votes for a President and then bitch about something that have no bearings on his policies.....he didn't know he was going to win the award..jackass...and to give it back is the most stupidest shit i ever heard...he give it to charity..dipshit..

  • @salbella50 @salbella50 shut the fuck up u deep shit ass motherfucker. stupid fuckers like u shity ass ruin this great country. its nothing about Obama himself! its about stupid shity brains like u who crazily try to argue with people that 'our great lord Obama didnt know hes gonna win it~he just cant give it up~' what the fuck?

  • @salbella50 no reasons at all from those crazy motherfuckers and whores! just keep crying for "NEVER Touches him! Hes OUR GOD!" hehe stupid shity ass. grow up you are already fucking older than anyone but not just about fucking brain ablilty. hehe

  • we're not angry at him and the decision was far from unanimous

  • it's amazing how stupid you people are, blind to the simple truth. No they have Obama by the balls with this peace prize, you'll see the consequences soon.

  • I wish that were true. But, If you reward bad behavior you only get more of it.

They really only gave it to him to continue the illusion of change, when there really hasn't been any change at all.

It was more a tool of deception than anything else.

I think it has backfired on them. As we can see, a lot of people are outraged.

  • I think people suspect that in some way this was foisted upon the world because what is so obvious to everyone is that it was unmerited. This being the case, one wonders how the selection commitee failed to see what the entire world sees. And now the dreaded word must make its appearance at the risk of destroying this entire post's credibility, "Conspiracy."

  • If he had done something, well, that would be something. But he didn't, and this causes consternation amongst those of us who question things that seem too good to be true. Are the people who make these selections idiotic? I doubt it. Then why would they choose a person who did not meet the bare minimum requirement that EVERY other candidate prior met, which is: they did something rather than talked about doing something.

  • I imagine that most object to it because, he's black, or he's a democrat, or he's a black democrat who they believe won the campaign because of his blackness and political party affiliation. I am not addressing the more base castigation, but rather would like to point out what rational, "respectful," people are objecting to is the precedent that is being set with this selection in that it sullies the honor associated with the award by making it seem like a popularity contest.

  • I don't object to Obama. I object that he was awarded a "prize" he didn't deserve. I know you card carrying liberal democrats can't FATHOM your guy taking a little flak but get over yourselves. Obama IS NOT GOD!

  • you know its funny republicans are against gay and lesbians having rights too in a country that is suposed to be equal to all yet your leaders are giving hand jobs to random guys in public restrooms great family party huh

  • You are stupid. He should've rejected it. Obama is escalating the war in Afghanistan. NO, not cool. We didn't win anything. Obama did.

  • Of course the only people that are angry that he got the Nobel are the haters & bigots that hated Obama from the start. Ignore them.

  • Lets take a minute and look at what you just said here. "the only people that are angry that he got the Nobel are the haters and bigots that hated Obama from the start." Really? So the only people that can be upset that they gave this prestigious award to a man who has yet to really do anything as president can be "haters" and racists? I see your logic as being deeply flawed.

  • Your video was sensible and comprehendible. There's no need for a hissy-fit here. What's done is done. All this does remind me of this Australian speedskater at the winter olympics who got the gold medal when the 3 or 4 infront of him all fell over. Gold medal is Gold medal. Yeah he feels weird for winning it. But what's the use of having a go at Obama?

  • Well he's not been George Bush for 9 months! I know thats not original. Anyway its not Obamas fault. Poor fella has been put in a position by The Nobel Peace people. I think this has brought the whole Nobel Award prize into disrepute. We need to see what his efforts towards peace during the Presidential term will be and then evaluate if there has been any improvement in world peace. Isn't that more sensible?

  • Nobel Peace Prize application deadline day was nine days after he was sworn in office?? Is that true? That's what I heard Don't you think he is already the President and it's already expected from him to be a true leader of peace?? Why win a prize when it's your job?? Jesus why do you help people?? Because it's what I do.... Also what about his executive pay... 1.4 million? I could use some of that Obama money to pay off a credit card or two...

    God bless America!!! Really.

  • Actually Obama was in office 12 days before the deadline for applying for the NPP. That means they were nominating him based on 12 days in office? No, they already had their mind made up, if he won the presidency, they were going to nominate him. This should not sit well with any GOOD AMERICAN. What a joke.

  • Nic Post, although I believe the Peace prize was given at a very early stage in his presidency, he does deserve it. As the leader of this nation, the man has fought through racism to become the first black president. Got to say congrats to the man, and lets hope he is one of the great presidents

  • Is it possible that the machine that bought him the election also delivered the peace prize?

  • For everyone's information: I've blocked three people in the last five minutes.

Watch your language. In case you weren't aware, vulgarity, hate speech and extreme swearing will not be tolerated.

  • I honestly dont know why people are sooo negative about this...cant we just be happy it is something good for America?

  • Interesting opinion, but I think you've missed the point on why we're furious about this award.

We're angry at the nobel prize people for being corrupt, and giving a prize to a guy who is still engaged in two millitary conflicts, a freaking peace prize. Nobody got angry because "Obama wanted the prize" We're angry at the political favoritism, and corruption of an award that once stood for excellence in improving the quality of the world.

  • Here we go again lets take down Harvard because Obama went there the best college in the nation. Now the peace prize how about you shut up you racist fuck

  • Oh ROFL

If I don't like somebody who happens to be black Im a racist?

Who is the intolerant/closed minded among the two of us?

Oh and by the way, I am not a republican, nor a conservative, so if by "your leaders" you mean Bush and Gulianni, and Mccain, I'll have you know that I knew Bush was going to be a disaster in 1999, before he got elected

The world isn't divided into republicans and democrats, some of us actually believe in freedom

  • RACIST? ARENT U BORED TO USE RACIST CRACK POT SHIT? I said it then u still think Im a WHITE RIGHT WINGER ASS RACIST? I M NOT THAT AT ALL U RACIST FUCK!? IN UR FUCKING STUPID SENSE, what about GIVING HIM AN EMMY AWARD or OSCAR for the best celebrity of the year~ huh? WHAT a dumb short thinking kiddo.

  • thats so right man. NOBEL COMMITEE is not like before it has been. they re just left bangers.

  • @MelissaJenna take the stick out of your ass

  • The Nobel Peace Prize is irrelevant at this point anyway. They could give it to a Hitler Zombie, a tree stump or a frickin' wind turbine and it wouldn't make a bit of difference to the world.

  • Multiple choice question:

What did president Obama win the Nobel Peace Prize of 2009 for?

    a) Continuing and expanding war in the middle east.

    b) Renewing the terms of the Patriot act and continuing to spy on American Citizens.

    c) Giving another bailout to Wallstreet.

    d) Changing the term "Torture" to "Advanced Interrogation Techniques".

    e) Appointing all lobbyists to his cabinet positions, when he said he would not appoint any.

    f) All of the above.

  • Or you could be honest...

    g) I hate black people.

  • What the hell does that mean? HONESTLY, he didn't DESERVE the NPP! I wouldn't care if he was green with orange spots! STOP playing the race card! Believe it or not some people just state their opinion based on FACTS and nothing else. I love black people, it's ignorant people I can't stand!

  • My grandfather was black Cuban, and I loved him very much. I am 1/4 black and I don't hate any part of myself. Sooo...

Would you like to debate the facts or just blurt out false accusations.

    I didn't think so.

  • Since it looks like I'll lose if I choose facts, I'll opt for false accusations.

  • :-)

  • wow! they should give YOU a peace prize.. thanks MelissaJenna!

  • I agree as well. I'm not American and I don't think he deserves it as he hasn't done anything tangible yet. But the crazies who are actually angry are just bizarre.

These are the sorts of people who made the rest of the us (aka the world) dislike you folks. Maybe the American people deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for finally doing away with your 2000-2008 mistake.

  • Comment removed

  • Orthodoxy is unconsciousness.

    We are the dead.

  • still wished the dude would just release his birth certificate and end all the other questionable stuff.

  • As an individual from another country (Australia), I feel like Obama does deserve the Nobel peace prize. So many countries had become very vocally anti-american during the reign of bush - suddenly so many countries are pro-america again. There are simple reasons for this such as Obama's clear, logical, and fair international policies. You might not see him as doing much - but the rest of the world does. To many of us, Obama is already close to the level of the amazing JFK. Congrats Obama!

  • Agree completely. I don't understand where all of this anger is coming from. Congratulations to your President!

  • LOL ... Obama doesn't deserve the job he's got much less any awards .. he's as handy as a soup sandwich and hasn't done SQUAT (that is, if you don't count him quadrupling our national debt and training sheep to sing praises of Socialism)

  • It's nothing to do with a particular presidential accomplishment, like so many people keep thinking (and hence why they think he doesn't deserve it) .

What he DID do however was spread hope and a newfound effort for peace to countless countries/people. How many individuals do you know of who are capable of doing this on a global scale?

But, when you're talking about people who literally cheer when we lose Olympics bids and such, can you really expect them to be happy about this either?

  • Well said , I find everyone around me this week following their blind anger and spreading it to others like a bad cold.

  • I agree. I don't understand why he got it either but people aren't doing any good bitching and they're just putting down the committee's choice. What's done is done! It's not that big a deal. It's not like he demanded it and it's already happened. Get over it!

  • lol, aren't you just sweet and soft spoken. I wonder if you would still hold this view if George W Bush had won? Hmmmm....

And you know what, this notion that everyone is angry and somehow that's bad, I find it AMAZING how suddenly everyone is supposed to be composed and taking their soma and denying reality. When Bush was in office "dissent" was the highest form of patriotism. It showed true Americanism to protest, scream, chant, disagree with one's government, etc....

    HYPOCRITES!

  • lol i always crack up when she says I'm MJ

  • obama gets a NPP while there is A WAR GOING ON?!? anyone else see the irony? but, on the bright side, good job obama.

  • he's done nothing to deserve the nobel peace prize. obama's right. he doesn't deserve the nobel prize. I think most people are being as respectful to obama as people were to bush.

  • You are right, they are haters. They hate on everything.

  • as always...I couldn't agree with you more!

    -Brandy aka FairyFrenchfry 5WW's

  • well said MJ

  • He could have turned it down and nominated someone worthy instead.

  • Did he accept it though? Yes? Then he's slightly a douche. Though in defense, he might of felt rude to decline them though they deserve a slap in the face for it.

Not necessarily upset with Obama though. It's just pathetic of the Nobel committee and those defending why he should get it.

  • Nobody seems to understand that this is an "aspirational" Nobel Peace Prize -- there are two types. It's not an award for what he's done so much as an encouragement to do what he is trying to do and wants to do.

  • Talk is cheap. That only matters if he affects others and then others do something due to his influence and I don't see any of it that merits a Nobel Peace Prize.

  • THANK YOU. I am currently in a position in which I am surrounded by people who are so filled with hate that they have forgotten how to take pride in their country, and it's nice to hear someone making sense again. It's good to have you back, MelissaJenna.

  • Surrounded by people who are so filled with hate that they have forgotten to take pride in their country.... you mean like Michelle Obama just one year ago?

  • I'm not saying there's anything wrong with hating the government. It's just that some people have blurred the line between hating the government and hating the country.

Take the Olympic bid for Chicago, for example. The right was thrilled that we lost, nevermind that this would've been a huge win for the country. The only reason they rooted against it was because Obama was involved. They didn't react this way when New York lost the bid for 2012, even though Hillary Clinton headed up that rally.

  • The majority of the people, around Illinois, are happy that Chicago did not receive the bid for the 2016 Games because of how many times we have been lied to about them. I don't have a big problem with Obama on this one. He wanted the Olympics because they would have been in the US as well as being in his hometown of Chicago. The real person to be upset with is Mayor Daly. He lied and lied and lied about the bidding process and the people had enough. Only 46% of chicagoans wanted the games

  • Now there's absolutely nothing wrong with that answer. If everyone else who cheered when Chicago lost the Olympic bid had that same opinion, I'd be happy with that. Sadly, that is not the case.

  • cheer when the united states lost the olympics there you go way to root for your country

  • MelissaJenna: I totally agree with what you just said!!

  • Thanks M.J. You said exactly what I was thinking. Some think we ought to give the prize to arms dealers because they are truly the ones that keep the peace, peace through war that is.

  • How can you tell the haters??? They're the ones with tin-foil hats!!! Let the conservatives throw their hissy-fit. Just a few days ago, they were hooping and hollaring after we lost the Olympic bid. Conservatives... ever hear of something called karma???

  • melissa don't worry about nattering nabobs of negativism. your first mistake was assuming that people at there core disrespect a president on the floor of congress could have a logical discussion about anything. information and facts don mean anything.

  • HE HASNT DONE NOTHING! that says it all u dummies! Obama is our president? its a good news for all of us? that doesnt mean anything to buy it!

  • It's for defeating the evil republicans.

  • Comment removed

  • Three cheers for pres Obama and the United States of America. For those that know the Lord keep our nation and our president lifted up in prayer, together we stand devided we fall one nation under God

  • I hope the prize encourages him.

  • what's that thing on the shelf in the background? something slimy moves around in it, a fish??

  • It's fascinating. Someone recently mentioned that this is one of the biggest divides our country has faced in a long time between political parties. Some people are glad we weren't chosen for the Olympics, some people are angry Obama won the peace prize. In the 30's and 40's when we were suffering bad, we thought of ourselves as a collective, now it's people who are taking pride and being progressive and ton of others who are in a whiney tizzy over everything.

  • I'm with you on your point that people shouldn't be mad at the President. I don't think it is unpatriotic (like one of the comments was suggesting) to hope the most qualified person be awarded. (regardless of their nationality or status of fame)

Hope Obama puts the prize money towards helping his fellow nominees achieve their goals.

I was really touched by the one guy that started building schools for Afghan girls.

  • do I think he should have gotten it, no. but I do think the anger is a bit mis-placed. be mad at those who voted for him to win it, as it would seem they are now discrediting the value of it for all those who won it before him. Personally I look at things objectively on our president, and I dont see him having had either a, enough time or b, done much of anything super special other than being popular on a world wide scale. which isnt what thats about.

  • PS: On the subject of the neocons: Jeez, our president gets a Nobel Peace Prize, and they're outraged? Where's their patriotism? DO THEY HATE AMERICA?!?!?!

  • We had a war-mongering idiot as president for eight years before Barack Obama. Now we have his polar opposite in Barack Obama. It would be interesting to see if Barack Obama had gotten the Nobel Peace Prize if he had succeeded someone other than Bush. But hey, if the rest of the world likes us again, I'll take what I can get.

  • I think we can ALL agree on ONE thing: MJ is hot. Nuff said.

  • Its really kind of surprising but well from now on he must fulfill his promises he made to his people and the world for the nobel peace prize.

  • very well put, melissa

  • I totally agree with you! Thanks for your sanity.

  • It is supprising that Obama is awarded with Peace Prize, given he is so short into his term.

But I don't see anything wrong of his accepting the Prize. After all, he is trying his best to make pease.

  • Good one. Like the wife-beater (that sounds bad).

  • I really will never understand all the anger. What good does it do? They aren't going to take it away from him just because people are griping about it. Life will go on even if President Obama has an award.

  • Yeah you're right. It's not Obama's fault, and the right show themselves up by getting so angry. BUT, that doesn't change the fact that hardly anybody in the world thinks he really deserves it yet. It's almost as if they are working with Glenn Beck!

  • I don't think he feels he doesn't deserve it. But he didn't ask for it. If someone offers you the Nobel Peace Prize, you take the damn thing and say THANK YOU!

  • Yeah, like when someone offers you some kind of ethnic food you've never eaten. You just eat it and express your appreciation regardless of whether or not you were hungry in the first place.

  • I am seriously amused how many republicans don't know the basics of tact and civility. If you receive a gift you take it no matter what it is and you don't throw it back LOL

  • "...people's decorum has kind of gone out the window..."

Woah woah woah. At some point people acted appropriately? MJ don't start publishing lies now.

  • You made me actually laugh out loud. I LOVE dry humor.

  • This is a good example for your Principle Series. Yeah there are several people who believe Obama shouldn't have received the Peace Prize but they should at least be respectful about it and not flame over it. I 100% agree with the message given in this video, thanks for a good watch.

  • I suppose he could have politely refused to accept it. I'd have be impressed by that.

    Peter

  • Congratulations, MJ!!!!

This is as much yours as it is America's !!!!!

    Never mind the negative Nellies.

  • A lot of the anger is rooted in the elevation of style and "hopechangey" rhetoric over substanative details and real accomplishments. What about protestors in Iran who risked, and in some cases lost their lives to oppose a fascist regime? How much consideration did they receive for this award.

It is true that Obama didn't nominate himself for the award, so he shouldn't be blamed for the Nobel decision, but neither should he be congratulated for being handed something he did not deserve.

  • Uh, Reggie1971, Iran is not a fascist state. It is a theocracy with a democratically elected President. Just because the opposition's votes aren't all counted, that doesn't make Iran fascist. Corrupt, maybe, but not fascist.

  • Dear Mr. Obama:

Have a million dollars. Please don't bomb our country.

Love, The Rest of the World

  • Oh yeah, on my Facebook, my neocon friends put up hissy fit. Last week they(neocons) cheered that American did not get the Olympics but now today they went into total fit of rage.

  • i agree, mj! nicely put

  • you should earn the nobel hottie prize for being so lovely

  • I feel like "haters" are so emotionally unbalanced. They need to have some bearing on thier words. Sometimes they act like animals, its repulsive. When they disagree with something, they should atleast speak with some bearing.

i've found that some "haters" dont realize that they sound like wild animals w/ access to a keyboard.

i'm only referring to those just dispicable emotionally off blanace comments, not to the person who chooses to disagree w/ some sense.

  • i can understand the intentions in how giving Obama the Nobel Peace Prize could perhaps influence future decisions made by the President, and may have been a somewhat delicate, persuasive, and very subtle power move by the Nobel Award people in trying to have Obama be held up to more peaceful resolutions in the future and coming forth on his promises.

i don't however agree that he actually deserves the medal in any way. and would disagree with anyone who thinks he had the merits to be so.

  • I think Obama should give the $1,000,000.00 prize money to ACORN...

  • for your comment alone... I WILL donate $50 to ACORN tonight.

  • thank you, it is a start...

  • Perhaps the world has become such a bad place, that a person who does nothing is considered a hero!

  • I agree that Obama shouldn't have even been considered for a Nobel Peace prize. But I would personally give him a prize for driving republicans crazy.

  • Now I hear that Sarah Palin is being considered for a Pulitzer, for her stated intention to read a book sometime in the future!

  • Comment removed

  • Yea, I think it is funny that Obama got the peace award when he is facing a was with Iran...I think that is quit funny...hmmmm

  • he should have turned down the nomination....Simple as that...2 weeks into his presidency...

  • there was no nomination... No one but the Nobel committee voting members knew Obama was on the list.

  • MJ, you are being quite naive wrt this situation. This is nothing for America to be happy about. BO has done nothing - even by his own admission - to deserve this. So one must logically ask, "why was he awarded it"? One plausible explanation: Because in doing so, it hampers and possibly even cripples BO's ability to conduct military operations as needed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and potentially against a nuclear Iran or Korea.

  • As of right now, he is being asked to put 40k additional troops in Afghanistan - but how can he add this type of firepower to the region after just being awarded a PEACE prize??? He is now between a rock and a hard place.

  • I mean those Obama did a lot in those first 2 weeksl He passed Executive Order 13489- Where no sitting or former president has to disclose personal records such as: birth Certificates, School records, employment records, etc..

After he passed that he was nominated for the Nobel Prize...

  • You have not been up-dating the facebook fan page.

  • Ouch. You got me on that one. You're absolutely right, I have been super-slacking in that regard. What would you like to see more of?

  • Obama was NOMINATED 2 weeks after he was elected. Because of his great achievements he has accomplished. He now stands next to:Cordell Hull (initiator of the UN);Ralph Bunche;Leon Jouhaux; ALBERT SCHWITZERl; Martin Luther King;Rene Cassin; Henrry Kissinger;Sean Mac Bride;Menachem Begin; These people spent a LIFETIME to get a Nobel PRize; Obama was Nominated 2-weeks into his presidency; And you still feel this way???

  • Every President seems to have his haters. Those haters have some impressive media power. It was the same with Clinton and Bush.

I agree this prize is more an incouragement. This has tradition...I mean Arafat won the Nobel peace prize too.

  • President Obama was voted in as a peace maker, so I think it is fitting.

If the president can solve the problems that currently face our country, he will go down into history as the greatest American President.

I do not believe another President has ever been faced with so many different challenges.

  • Obama was nominatted by the committe, 2 weeks after he was elected....what peace keeping did he do his first 2 weeks?????

gitmo is still alive and well

    Iraq is still on

    afghanistan is still a warzone

the might as well given the prize to FDR :D

  • Who's angry at the prez? I think the award has lost some credibility due to stunts like this... and its disappointing that an iconic symbol of peace is so carelessly disseminated. im frustrated with the shift in spirit towards a political tool.

  • Hey MJ, your message was spot on and my quick comment about the haters is how can people who are so full of hate ever expect to contribute anything positive to our country?

  • conservatives don't want america to win anything unless rush says so

  • :takes a deep breath: ... He was awarded an aspiration (Nobel) peace prize. I just read an article on how it might backfire on him and all the goals he has set up for his administration. Maybe it was too early to give him one since he has doubts on how to face the Afghan/Pak conflict. But like the article said, it was based on aspiration and as a leader of this nation he is more likely to inflict a positive change.
