Why not freeze the BBC Licence Fee and force them to cut their bloated over-paid management - Director General on £800,000 a year. Freeze the local government grant but tell councils they must not reduce the quality of their services but reduce their bloated management instead
Yeah, yeah, we all know your real plan is to censor free file sharing content on the internet so that the companies you own can get money from more sales, which, haha, how surprising, goes to you.
The truth will come out Cameron.
People are only voting for Cameron because they want to piss labour off, well guess what? -- I'd rather have a crap party in charge, than a crap life with half the internet made un-accessible in the U.K...
I'm afraid cutting the cost of politics is just the tip of the iceberg, what about all the pointless and fictitious legislation that has appeared in this country over the last 30 years, has Mr Cameron even mentioned this??
The only law is Common Law, in other words hurt nobody and cause nobody loss, please learn about this and open your eyes.
The legal system is contractual only, you just believe that it's real because of ignorance.
That's the thing with any system of morality, which is something the law certainly is: it's only true if you believe it's true. The difference is, though, that the law is forcibly enforced. Also, you have the problem with defining the term "hurt" which is part of the very purpose of the law. While it achieves it with mixed success, it is far better than allowing it to be interpreted differently by every person.
Unnecessary legislation is certainly a problem, both from the perspective of the integrity of the legal system and from a financial perspective, saving money is only part of the message that David Cameron is trying to get across in "Cutting the Cost of Politics". What he is trying to do, simply, is to restore faith in the political system with a message that shows that politicians are going to be bearing the burden of the recession just as the rest of us are.
This speech is not a financial move at all, really, especially considering the tiny impact it will have on a £175bn defecit. It is just a move towards a system that people fell they are more able to trust.
The legal system is forcibly enfored whether you like it or not and that is plain wrong and is in itself against the law, go and watch the video it's an illusion by John Harris or bursting bubbles of government deception by Rob Mernard.
I'd love nothing better than to believe that David Cameron is Britains Ron Paul figure but he's nowhere even close.
He won't lift a finger to stop the EU fascist state then we'll all be toast.
Why are people on here saying Cameron has not talked about Europe? You're not following the debate.
David Cameron has said several times that one of the first actions of a Conservative government would be to hold a referendum on Europe. Most recently he said it at CameronDirect this week and he said it in an interview with the Daily Telegraph yesterday.
Well I am voting Conservative. At least Cameron is giving his line on MP expenses. Brown is still in his Bunker! Give us that Election Comarade Stalbrown
It's a good first step, but there is clearly a limit to cutting "waste". Taxes will inevitably rise during the next parliament in order to fill the huge black hole in the public finances.
Excellent speech, when I was on work experience in Parliament I also thought the food and drink were very inexpensive. If you look at the variation of food and they have three huge canteens and I mean HUGE! It's amazing, I'm not complaining.
Another populist rhetoric whirlwind tour-de-force! Why don't we just create the United Con-Lib-Lab Party and get things done for a change? Seriously now! Without the EU the UK would soon find itself facing another World War. A strong, diverse but united, Social-Democratic semi-Conservative semi-Liberal EU is what we Europeans need to prevent certain other powers from putting Europe into the dustbin of global poverty! Eventually a strong Trans-Atlantic Union between the US and the EU is the way.
The correct and necessary, in due time put question. Money it is necessary to save. In a policy the professionals prepared should be engaged. Reliable, dear politics
Hmm I can't help feel this is just another empty political promise, trying to score points for saying "the right thing at the right time". If he actually persues this, I'll be impressed.
Let me get this streight Mr. Cameron. Here, in Morgon's own Autobiography he claims that Gordon brown secretly recorded talks within Conservative party H.Q. and then leaked the recording to the Press. And, as far as I know, the Conservatives haven't even questioned Brown! Why on Earth not. This is the kind of thing Richard Nixon was kicked out of office for. Why hasn't the question at least been aired in public. The claim comes directly fromMorgon's own pen. Read 'The Insider.'
Have You Read Piers Morgon's Book 'The Insider'? In it Morgon Claims That Brown Give him a recording and said Somthing along the lines of: 'This is the Conservative Party talking about there Govermeant policy for the election. We Infiltrated them.' Morgon goes on to write that Brown seemed guelty looking as he said this.
Labour have allowed quangos to rocket out of control.
Why is Kenneth Clarke allowed so much say in the Conservative party? His terrible bad advice to the incompetent John Major and the wretched Lamont who followed their instructions was the cause of a Labour landslide .
Ken Clarke,Major,Lamont,Hurd and Heseltine should have been thrown out of the Tory party for causing a Labour Landslide.
Yes the people of this nation want their referendum NOW!! I think this should be on of the first things a new Government should do ask the people and move on from there.
At last a politician saying what we all know, we can't keep spending and have to make cuts. Our oil and gas money is fast declining so we haven't got the money and Labour have wasted it instead of improving the infrastructure.
Starting with government is a good idea, for too long they have been insulated from the real world. Credit to Cameron for having the guts to come out with this in contrast to Brown
who can't even admit cuts are coming and squirms like a worm on a hook.
This has been flagged as spam show

A strong, diverse but united, Social-Democratic semi-Conservative semi-Liberal EU is what we Europeans need to prevent certain other powers from putting Europe into the dustbin of global poverty! Eventually a strong Trans-Atlantic Union between the US and the EU is the way.

The correct and necessary, in due time put question. Money it is necessary to save. In a policy the professionals prepared should be engaged. Reliable, dear politics

David. You have to cut costs by more than 10% to get my support. Target 50%.

See John Major Black Wednesday.

Interesting speech, lead by example, etc
Who knows, maybe he'll even fix the rest of the wasted spending in this country and lead by example to the world

This is a token gesture to buy votes
I want a referendum on Europe along with the vast majority of people in Britain.
If you promise to give us a referendum, you have my vote in the general election.

I agree, its vital that the public get there referendum.
