@gundamWWW As much as I am for taxing the rich and not letting a few elites get hold of a ton of power over everyone else, I also believe that in tough economic times a government must be fiscally responsible and cut taxes when it needs to. What the NDP doesnt realize is that its businesses, especially big businesses that create jobs for ppl. Its the rich businessmen on Bay St that are paying for most of your health care and education!When you tax them too highly how will u pay for your unions?

@gundamWWW The NDP just wants to spend spend spend! How do you expect to create jobs if you just dump millions of dollars of tax money into public sector jobs. You have to have a balance between private and public sector. And also a balance between social justice and fiscal responsibility, which is what liberals care about. Without one, you can't have the other. The NDP however doesn't seem to realize this...or they dont care. The NDP in power scares me almost as much as the Harper dictatorship

Ok so you've explined to me your positions.

However I don't think that everyone in the NDP wants to raise taxes and spend like a druken sailour.

People like Brian Topp, Thomas Mulclair and Paul Dewar are the embodiment of straight up boring old men.

If the leadership of the party is control what is their to worry about?

It's not as if Libby Davies is the leader?

@gundamWWW umm, yes the NDP does spend like drunken sailors, they tax the rich too much, and look out for the poor while everyone else (people who went to university and worked very hard to get to where they are, and studied something useful) all get fucked. If you don't see the difference between the liberals and the NDP then you don't see that difference. p.s. why are you suddenly talking about leaders?

Leaders are very important in the political process. Political parties in the modern age can rise or fall with a leader.

This was clearly demonstrated by the Liberals with Michael Ignatieff and the NDP with Jack Layton.

Individual Mp's have less and less power in this very centralized parliamentary system.

@gundamWWW yes, leaders are important in the political process in canada because unfortunately some people have this idea that elections are nothing more than a silly little personality contest. Michael Ignatieff has a PhD in history from Harvard, he had personal life experience outside of canada in Europe and in America, he traveled the country with Pierre Trudeau when he was young, he's written almost 20 books i believe, why wouldn't anyone vote for this man?

@gundamWWW The answer: Michael Ignatieff wasn't "charismatic" or he "rubbed" me the wrong way. Why did they vote for Layton, because Layton WAS charismatic. How stupid is that? Youll have to excuse me for not being completely overtaken like the rest of you by this man's little cult of personality that he spent his entire life cultivating, he was nothing more than a demagogue, basing his policies on nothing more than fluff. People liked Layton for Layton, not his policies, which is more important

@gundamWWW the conservatives on the other hand go to the other extreme and just cut cut cut, NDP spends spends spends. conservatives cut cut cut, dogmatically. both parties are extreme, the old progressive conservative party used to be good but ever since they merged with the Reform party they're all a bunch of wing nuts now.
