Unfortunately there is absolutely no one in Greece that has contributed to the revival of Pankration as an art. If you look , and you dont have to look that close, mosat represent an asian art. For example, Malia is from Tang Soo Do and it's all over his wall in his Gym, and he teaches Kick Boxing as that! Pankration's rebirth happened outside of Greece.
I've been pankration with the books by Jim Arvanitis (Demetrios), Pankration and Game of the Gods. There's a book called The martial arts of ancient greece which the authors have the pictures of the original techniques(which were depicted through statues, pots, etc.) and demonstrations which were very accurate, however I plan on mastering the art of pankration and going to greece to research more pankration styles and techniques, you have an awesome looking school.
Hi martialartstemple3, thanks for your comments.Unfortunately u will not find a pankration school in Greece, that teaches authentic Pankration other than Karate schools diguised as Pankration schools! Unfortunately Jim has not had a school for the past 15 yrs and the one in Boston is closed. The only world renowned Pankration school is ours at the Spartan Pankration Academy. U r more than welcome to come and visit and train with us there anytime as my guest.
i must say the same thing with you i love greece and i would really love to do my coutrys martial art cause i am greek... indeed kicks and punches were allowed but i have seen pankrateion practisioners make tolio chakki(tkd kick) base kickboxing stances and these things i really thing the only guy that knows is aris because i have seen him in human weapon and he is good it would be good help greece to have some educated schools with seminars
Jim Arvanitis learned Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and greco roman before he started researching for the grecian martial knowledge. He learned from looking at ancient pankration techniques on statues, pots, etc. Besides Muay Thai isnt the only system that consists of strikes.
There is PLENTY of archaeological evidence that depicts the art, and also there exist the names of the techniques, like "gastrizein" as an example. If you speak Greek, although it's ancient dialect that, it's very descriptive. They revive it as best as they can, chances are they are pretty close.
Even Zambidis' coach is involved in pankration's revival, just to mention some experts to give credibility to the attempt.
But of course, we can never know. Hope it helps you a little all that...
Hey everyone I tried one of them and it works great! Hey everyone I got it from their website,, just search goolge for martialarm! it seems like a Wing Chun Home Training Machine It will be good for jeet kune do and trapping hands
Πού βρίσκεται η σχολή? δεν είναι στην Ελλάδα?

Man, Pankration looks so cool and useful, wish it was more wide-spread in the World. Good thing that 300 gave it some attention. :)

It's pretty ironic, but it's almost impossible to find a decent Pankration school even in Greece. The vid description is very close to the truth
