I like Shiny Toy Guns before they started their commercial work for Lincoln. All tat aside, it takes a lot of work to make original work, and its not easy to recreate a cover either. However, I have witnessed bands performing their own work live where they decided to change the song even more drastically than this example here. It all comes down to opinion. I couldn't pull this kinda thing off, and I respect those that can.

I love this song!... the original song that is. this "tribute" is not too bad. but still, why couldn't they come up with an original song to exploit their band? this version pays a somewhat nice tribute... i suppose. at least it gets new listeners to value classic rock.

Yeah, exactly. My first reaction upon hearing this "What the hell is this?" Whatever it is, it's not good. I know it's a different genre and the band put its own spin on the song, but, even so, I just don't think it's good. I guess I understand why a lot of users on here dislike the cover for the robotic thing, but if you're reasonning is because its different than the BOC version in that its echoes and uses a voiceover, then just listen to the BOC version. To me, a cover is a bands OWN version of a different song. this song screams STG, im sure they could of just re-dod the sing, w/o any effects, but then there would be no point in trying to imitate the song. The cover is meant to recreate, not imitate.

The major tom did a good job of adding a new perspective on the song. This is more of a copy and doesn't do the song as much justice because the voice doesn't carry. It's to compact and the techno like robot thing just doesn't fit the song.
