the drummer is Herman Mathews, ex Tower of Power drummer for about 3 yrs or so and 2 or 3 cds', and he doesn't make mistakes...neither does Bill Churchville on trumpet (on the right) alos ex tower of Power for many years.
No, there was no dispute on stage. Tom was just grooving with the band. I think this is the best sounding performance I've ever heard on You Tube. Great Telecaster playing too!!!

Actually Mometoe, the song was performed exactly like it was rehearsed for the show. Tom looked back at the drummer so he could time his cutoff punch movement with the drummer's final hit/cutoff. No mistake, no drama. Exactly as rehearsed. BTW: The MD is an ace on this gig and has been with Tom 17 years. Little hint, he's not the bass player.
As far as the Buddy Rich lecture and the spanking... I have worked with many artist that don't have a F*%$ing clue as to what's going on. And if you have ever MD'd you would know this!!! The band was spot on!!! The MD kicked ass!!! The bass player is world class in Tom's band and of course Sir Tom rules! Things happen, don't be so quick to judge!
This performance in my opinion was better than Regis and Kelly. GMA kicked ass. I couldn't believe the quality of the sound. Very powerful music, I did a cover as well, see vernonperry.

I love (!) Frank Sinatra, like Elvis, but Tom is the most longest stand-up-comeback-guy ever existed. Keeping up this powerful stage-act-style is hard, and not comparable to the smooth Dandy-style Sinatra had. Tom is the best, he's down-to-earth and he gets better and better. One day he will be longer-in-the business than any other major legen-entertainer/singer, with the most albums and the greatest long-breath-success. No doubt about this, the truth is my witness ;-)
