  • My Mosin Nagant can punch 1/4" steel no prob with bulk corrosive ammo @ 100yds... of course green tip will do it. It should punch through light mobile armor, believe it or not steel is a terrible thing to hide behind. Get a sandbag or two instead.

  • I have a RRA LAR15 Tactical Operator2, 1:9 twist, can I go with the 62 grain?

  • I love learning about ammunition, there's so many.

  • I am a firm believer in the 62 gr. tip; it's all I run through my weapon. I agree that one is best served by shooting 5.56 NATO as opposed the Remington .223 55gr. if your twist is a 1/7....

  • If you have a 1 in 7 twist barrel, you should be shooting the 62 gr ammo and not 55 gr. I saw a big increase in accuracy in mine. The 55 gr "overstabilizes" at that high twist rate.

  • Our local range, with steel target frames, has a rule: "No steel-cored ammo." And you can see what happens when someone breaks the rule! They've taken to checking ammo people bring in with a magnet. :)

  • my 22-250 has done this just with normal hollowpoint rounds. although it dose get around 4000fps

  • Ah, thanks for not using the SI-System!

  • Just picked up a thousand rounds of this ammo. It was on sale all over at Christmas. My Mini likes it and seems to shoot the 62 gr a little tighter than the 55gr..

  • best bullet hole sticker ive ever seen

  • Semper Fi

  • i wish i could shoot guns in my backyard :/

  • I just added 'green tip' to my wish list.

  • I just love some of the comments: " I doubt very much..." etc I doubt that doubt myself. No doubt. But that's just me.

  • bacon

  • probably 3$ a round or more.

  • Dude I love the KATANGGGG, then a split second later "boom"...LOL

    Seeya bro, nice demo

    Dude

  • I doubt very much that you need "penetrator" bullets of any type to defeat 1/4-inch mild steel with a .223 rifle. A hollow-point varmint load would probably make a slightly bigger hole and still exit the back of the plate with energy to spare.

  • @TheIdahoanShow do a video to prove that then...

  • @TheKodiak72: Good idea. I'm afraid we're out of 1/4-inch plate at the moment, and the local steel distributor is closed for the weekend, but I'll see if I can make that video sometime next week.

  • @TheIdahoanShow .22Lr wont penetrate. I weld on A36 steel all day in school and i also have to go through Metallurgy. A .17 HMR would ricochet right off. The Mil-scale alone on that steel gives a .01" layer over the steel. A JHP bullet may penetrate the steel but wont have enough energy to dig much more than 4" into a hardwood log.

  • @TheIdahoanShow the .223 hollow point wont go through the 1/4 inch plate steel they just hit and flaten out ....

  • @TheWhyness

Green tips wern't origionaly developed to be penetraters. The black tip was designed from the ground up to be.

  • What if you put a watermelon behind the plate- or show a standard 5.56 then a green tip.. fun box. Thanks

  • i bought a ton of that stuff cause it was cheap, good to know what itll do now

  • TNOD9: you should consider meeting up with Hickok45.

Okay, now that I've got your attention, nice vid ;)

  • dude hickok45 is so much better than you

  • Can I suggest a little cocoa butter hand lotion?

  • @TheWhyness are you gay or something?

  • @SgtBaker0707 - not interested but thanks. I'm sure there's a club in your area for that where you can easily find someone who shares your sexual preference and who also has no sense of humor. Perfect match : )

  • You need Black Tip. Green Tip is just a dodgy knock off of a penetrater.

  • @powmful - need it for what exactly? if by knock off you mean can cleanly go through 1/4" of steel and maintain some ballistic energy I don't to see an issue for pretty much any purpose.

  • God bless the survivor of Sangin, he took one of those to the kevlar. Though it went all the way through, it just spun inside his scalp. He gets to keep that kevlar, what a story to be told!

  • hehe the steel penetrator, thats my nickname.

  • I have a pink tip, no joke.

  • pointless slomo

  • Can we see a comparison between this and the M855A1?

  • gool

  • Wow. You can hear the bullet hitting the steel plate before the report of the rifle.

  • @Commiefornia Wow I didn't realize it until I read your comment. That's awesome.

  • Welding steel is a little on the soft side... Still, cool video.

  • I want a back yard like that..

  • Green tip ammo isnt good for ar barrels. They cut down the life of the barrel because they are harder than normal rounds. They are typically designed for LMG's. You can shoot them but over use in an AR will result in a shot barrel.

  • @sethbargo And where did you get this information i have Never heard before?

  • @Kylef7735 To all of you know it alls, this information come directly from Stag arms themselves. You see stag Ar's come with a lifetime warranty on their barrels, meaning that when your barrel gets shot you send it back and they send you a new one. When sending my barrel back the man asked me if i shoot green tips. I told him less than 200 probably. It was at that point he informed me what information i told you. Seeing as my information come from Stag arms themselves. I belived it.

  • @sethbargo I dont believe it in the slightest, because they are still copper jacketed, it will always be softer than the steel barrel.

Its a chemical impossibility to make copper harder than steel

  • @Kylef7735 You are really showing how vast your knowledge is. What gives green tip the ability to punch through steel? The copper jacket has nothing to do with it. What is beneath the copper jacket? A steel perpetrator that is harder than the typical 5.56 round. That is why when the bullet is forced down the barrel it doesnt squeeze through as easy. Also the reason why it wears down the barrel faster. So dont argue unless you know ALL the facts.

  • @sethbargo At no point does the steel touch the barrel, it is is barely half the diameter of the 223 round, just cause it has a steel core doesnt mean the outer covering of the bullet is any harder.

  • @sethbargo you're a moron, and Stag arms is wrong. This myth, and it is exactly that, has been debunked. Have you ever looked at a sectioned SS109 bullet? The steel penetrator is at the tip of the round. The area where the lands would contact the bullet is, you guessed it, all copper and lead. Helps to have all the facts doesn't it? ;)

  • @sethbargo

    That is completely false information.

  • @sethbargo Congrats you are a moron.

  • It looked like it nailed the steel plate to the tree!!!

  • check my videos and see me shoot throught 1/2" steel with PMC and my Stag Arms 2T... 1/4" is still quite impressive!

  • can i get thise round here in Commiefornia ???????

  • @OGKILLa9365 I'm surprised you guys can still even own guns in that welfare state.

  • I miss the days in the Infantry when we would get cans upon cans of green tip ammo and just go shooting, practicing marksmanship and CQB. Good times. Great video!

  • Ammoman.com

  • how much do those rounds cost?

  • @AaronMarbut depends on where you get them. Best bet is to get these in bulk. They come in their own .30cal all weather military ammo can. They normally come 420 rounds each on a 10 round striper clip and 30 rounds to a box from anywhere $130.00 - $160.00 or loose 1,000 rounds for $300.00 - $350.00 on Cheaper Than Dirt. As a matter of fact I just picked up the 420 round deal because they had a holiday sale.

  • And who says the 5.56mm round has no stopping power...

  • @jman9022 It doesn't, it has penetrating power. there is a difference...

  • @L0GAN811 Let me shoot you with a 5.56, then tell me that.

  • thank you for the time and effort you have put into these very informative videos. i'm subing to your channel

  • the 30 dislikes were logs hoping that the steel plate would save their friend.

  • @WeekendWarrior556 identification purposes, typically ammo is loose in the field so the green tip automatically identifies the round. Tracer rounds have a yellow/orange tip, and true M955 armor piercing rounds have a black tip.

  • I think the tip is green because it is one with the tree.

  • With my pinkie I can break your nose.

  • I was just wondering but do you reload your ammo be cause i did see the burnt marks on the shell casings?

  • @unit5099 i do belive the burnt looking is called anealiing, a process used to prolong case life. if those were reloaded you would see scuff marks on the case neck.

  • I bought a 420-round can of these at the local Walmart (hate that store, but cheap ammo) last week. I was running low on my favorite Black Hills V-Max tip 60gr, which I can group inside of a nickel (no lie) at 100 yards regularly. I loaded up some of this ammo, and it has to be THE WORST ammo I've ever used. Brace-centered, the "group" is 18-INCHES at 100 yards! It's ALL OVER THE PLACE! High-right, low-left, it's a disaster if you're someone who relies on tight shot selection. This stuff SUCKS!

  • fast way to make a hole in metal. SCREW DRILL BITS

  • Crazy how such a small round can do that.

  • is the green tip standard issued in the military?

  • @aznwolf106 yes, its standard in the military for combat loads

  • Informative. I'm considering ordering some of this ammo; this video is enticing.

  • nice crayon man

  • @dalsepher26 The crayon is green, But it colors red.

  • โหววว

    รายเนี่ย

  • green tip nato rounds are my favorite

  • /watch?v=FGY_VzL6XCU hey, check out my 243. vs 1/2" steel!

  • for some reason I fucking love this video lol iIve watched it like 3 times in the last 2 weeks.

  • I'm a good lumberjack, i will bring a tree down with bullets

  • i bought a 45lb weigh lifting plate and 9 mm and 357 made chaulky marks on it. Greentip out of my mini14 went straight threw and the plate broke into chunks after 80 rounds.

  • Well made video, thanx for posting this. Quick question: is this the same green tip the Delta Operators complained about during Somalia? They stated the rounds would pierce through like a laser and the skinnies would just keep on running.

  • I'm gonna take a guess that this is not a round you want to get shot with.

  • i just bought 420 rounds of that green tip... havent show any yet

  • Hi, I have some 5.56 m858 round (green tipped) manufactured by PMC. However, on the bottom of the case there isn't NATO cross carved in on the PMC rounds. Does that mean those round aren't as effective once comes to penetration power?

  • Strange, I always though the greentips had a more powerful gunpowder mix in them and ordinary bullets because back in the army they didn't let us use them on the m16a1, only rifles with a reinforced barrel.

  • LOL at the Chuck Norris-sism

  • Let that be a lesson to AK loving knuckle heads that blabber over and over the 223 can't even kill a squirrel.

  • Are these one of the most bad ass 5.56 nato rounds a civilian can purchase? Considering it has that steel core follower, I think it would be. I am looking at a set of 10 in stripper clips sitting next to my laptop as I am writing this. They are just calling out my name to shoot them! Now! haha

  • who needs a drill for steel, you just need a good aim :D lol

  • After watching this demo, will these rounds penetrate the average to above average bullet proof vests? I've read on internet forums that they are NOT armor piercing rounds, but I'm confused because this guy just showed them go through a quarter of an inch of steel. Isn't that basically piercing armor? I know it all depends on the "thickness" of the steel, but how often is something going to be much thicker than a 1/4 inch? If anyone can give me some info on this it would be appreciated.

  • @Sennanchie

.... A normal 5.56 round will pierce an average bullet proof vest.

  • @Sennanchie 5.56mm ball ammo will go through all kinds of soft body armour very easily, although anything above Level 2 armour will stop it. I can't imagine there are too many types of wearable protective equipment that will stop these green-tip rounds, short of the very best ceramic plates.

  • :) :0 thats sick

  • 2:26 That's what she said

  • holy shit balls

  • heard the bullet "ting "on the steel, before the gunshot.

  • @thatbastardson

Reminds me of a quote from a TV show: "You never hear the shot that kills you".

  • @robert0380 Yea, I've heard something like that too. Like, "If you hear the shot, your not hit", or something along those lines.

  • a 223 (civilian 5.56 mm differ sammi spec) in a hunting rund can do that to twice the thickness

  • better bullets for better murder! gonna need more pour souls. good thing plants feed on dead bodies

  • ive had a 55g . 223 go through a 1/4" before the point of the green tip is to be lethal after it penatration

  • @reddevilcichlid What? Can you arrange your words in a sentence please?

  • crappy slo mo

  • That round moved the whole tree

    DAMMMMMMMNNN

  • @pdxjason503 its a log...

  • @pdxjason503 not a tree a log

  • @pdxjason503 no.... it was the log -.- learn to listen

  • @VickeLang I didnt watch the whole video. Learn to shut the fuck up and play with your airguns like a good 10 year old. Merry Christmas!

  • @pdxjason503 Merry Christmas!

  • @pdxjason503 that was a tree stump...

  • NATO uses this ?

  • @croatiaa4ever U.S general forces are issued this. I think the badass guys (seals and special forces) get even better shit.

  • Cashero...

  • Chuck Norris can flick a marble with more force.

  • @mr1000rx GAY JOKE

  • I've seen Chuck Norris penetrate 1" of hardened steel with a spitball he made by chewing the rusty nails he pulled out of an outhouse door with his teeth. The outhouse stank really bad till Chuck got there and scared the $hit out of it.

  • @mr1000rx Chuck is a softcock! Bear is the real deal as he drinks his own piss!

  • @akhaladi2 i think it's a reload

  • hello guys

could tell me why sometimes we see the bullet ,(i mean the brass) is like a half burn color?the upper part has a different color,it seems to be burnt, isn't it?

thanks and sorry for my bad English

  • @akhladi2 It's called an annealed case. Heat treated brass.

The process makes the neck of the case look discolored.

  • @soulstodeny05

    ok,thank you very much!

and thanks for your nice videos as well.

  • @akhladi2

Excellent question about the brass discoloration. I have some of these rounds and wondered about that myself but never asked anyone.

  • @robert0380 the discoloring is annealing of the case neck

  • fuck, I always thought 5.56 were crappy bullets...

  • Well... there goes my idea of a steal exoskeleton...

  • A standard ball round will accomplish the same effect on 1/4" steel though with less penetration into the wood. Now a a green tip on 3/4" to 1" steep plate would make an interesting video. ;)

  • you can buy M855's in bulk for around $160-170, i use them to practice with at the range, and i use them to hunt Feral Swine, because the steelcore goes right through the "shield" on the shoulder of the hog.

Federal XM855LC1 AC1 5.56x45 62gr. FMJ BALL 420 RD. Stripper Clips, comes with the stripper clip loader in the ammo can. they are stamped the same as the "green Tips" i used in the Army as an Infantryman. i love 'em!

  • @vipervenom1000r - Thanks for your insight. It's always interesting to hear from folks in the military that have experience with this stuff. I can tell you, that Federal XM855 has some serious penetration through steel. I posted a video of a test we did and it is serious stuff!

  • white power!

  • Comment removed

  • @skateboy159 steel core

  • @omgiTsmeJon oh ic thanks for telling me

  • So can easily get through Abrams tank :-)

  • i love how the camera captures the sound of the bullet hitting the steel plate before it captures the sound of the gun being fired, amazing

  • @thmaeder

found it really interesting too, when you calculate it (yeah i was that nerdy), the distance between both noises is nearly 0,15 seconds, while sound needs 0,2 seconds to travel the 80yards/65meters.

would mean the bullet arrives 0,05 seconds after firing, compared to the 0,2 seconds the bullet was 4 times faster than speed of sound, that is 1360m/s!!!...but could also be a effect caused by the inbuilt camera mic that pushes the volume level down after the impact...

  • @fitzeflinger

oh i mean 72 meters :D that makes 0,21seconds before the sound arrives, doesn't make that much of a difference though...

  • @fitzeflinger haha wow great job! my mathematical knowledge is specialised in statistics since i study psychology, so i'm impressed! that's very interesting but you're right that's what i thought too, it could be an effect caused by the mic in the camera. whenever you travel to switzerland with a gun in your bag just swing by and we'll do some experiments ;)

  • Needless to say that steel and steel can be two completely different things...

  • slow-mo? more like lagg-mo

  • GREEN TIP OR not any223,5.56 ammo will go through 1/4 steel. i used all 55 grain ammo good ammo and crappy ammo and all had the same effect. in and out like butter.

  • If you get a twig and stick it in the hole you can check the depth of penatrtion .Welding rod works better.

  • metric system is for europeans n shit god bless America!

  • @SuperYeastinfection What has god and shit to do with the question?

A lot of people cannot see the reason to stick to old and rather confusive measures.

It makes you look like a bombastic stereotypical F150-truck-driving redneck, which of course you are not. :)

  • @SuperYeastinfection It's still way easier and less confusing.

  • you dont need a penetrator to get through 1/4 normal steel like that, you dont even need penetrators to get through 3/8ths hardened steel, movable target at 200 yards.

  • you get shot with that your dead

  • @Sh4tterdL0g1c sorry , nope. it wont even deform.

  • I'ts a DEMONIC BULLET !

How can i be safe from a terrible threat like that ???

  • 5.56 mm sucks, sucks sucks sucks!

    W 30-06 Springfield!

  • This is the guy who made the selena gomez has control of my mind video is swear.

  • hell ya 5.56 is fucking bad ass then am i ever going to have to shoot thru a 1/4 inch of steel

  • a cacausin mens pinis is that

a 50 cal bmg or (black men's groin) is black dick

and alas the 9 mm belongs to the typical asian men

  • @sprig3432 you have a fallace obsession. i.e.: youre gay

  • @sprig3432 Bullshit. It's the balls that matter.

  • @Skullchaser08 for u not for tha bitchz

  • @sprig3432 Female orgasm is just like your opinion.

I don't fucking care about it.

  • Amazing! How it can penetrate to that thick steel. The arm forces should use heavy metals on 556 instead of just steel core... like thungsten or depleted uranium. Those sucker will go through any hard object.

  • Like the fact that the tree tried to run away

  • "Green Tip".....swore to god I've spent the last few years calling it either ball, match, or tracer.....

  • You want to see something even cooler then this, shoot that same piece of steel with a 45-70 govt. model rifle slug. It will go through that steel also, but it won't make such a pretty hole, it makes a giant rip of a hole. A big rip of a hole. And the interesting thing is that a .223 that is not the steel core will not go through that steel, almost, a nice crater, but no penetration.

  • @Delticola Regular 5.56 55 Grain FMJ punches through 3/8" mild steel at 100 yards no problem, trust me I tear up plates all the time, but since I get them free I don't worry about it. Now if your talking AR abrasion resistant plates of Brinell 400 are above 3/8 inch will stop it, but its expensive steel.

  • @VapoRTraiL111 yeah, I was just about to say that I've put regular FMJ rounds through quarter inch plates before... just like butter... and they'll go through eighth inch steel at quite a steep angle as well :) my experience falls short when discussing the types of steel though :P

  • Don't let it's size fool you, it'll drop an insurgent no problem

  • how about trying that on a helmet shape. on that its more likely to come back as a ricochet :D

  • Im in the Corps and we use these to pick off Iraqis from about 250 meters away.

  • @ximowilson -.- how FUCKING stupid you are?

  • @puiselo Why, and it would be:

    how Fucking Stupid are you?

  • @ximowilson you in the corps? BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA XDDD

  • holy shit! moved that dead tree back

  • nice nails dude lol

  • OMG !!! You hear the bullet hit , then the gun shot !!! WOW

  • Ecological ammunition ... Recycling ready xD

  • Be careful doing this fellas, that steel core can come back at you if it doesn't penetrate. The same will happen with any steel core ammo such as 7.62x39 or 7.62x54 even black tipped 30-06 armor piercing rounds if the plate is too thick
