  • I love how David looks all cute and cuddly, but he's actually a fucking bad-ass ! lml

    Looks can be deceiving.

  • @xMustaineIsGodx so gay lol

  • @aryagamis

Lolwut? If you think I'm gay, you're obviously wrong cause I'm a chick. Dipshit.

  • i love dave ellefson

  • donde esta dawn patrol?????

  • @MerolMasterOfVodka Excelente pregunta.

  • I'm glad you included the little lick in the middle of Take no prisoners. For some reason this lick always makes me snigger

  • ELLESFON EL PUTO CRAK DEL BAJO !!!

  • Ellefson is the best bass player of metal :D he´s such a good bass player ,my favorite bassist of all time

  • peace sells intro is my fav bass line from the whole megadeth discography :o

  • yaaaah i'm going to see them at sonisphere festival :D

  • the bass is so under rated =/

    it can do so much

  • MINI DAVE!!!!!!!

  • Cant wait to see Megadeth and Slayer and Testament in San Diego!!!! GONNA BE KICK ASS!!!!!!!!!

  • he is the best bass playing

  • what are those songs in order?

  • @choppermattoc 1. go to hell 2. five magics 3. peace sells 4. poison was the cure 5. lucretia 6. take no prisoners 7. holy wars

  • DAVID FUCKING ELLEFSON IS BACK IN MEGADETH!!!!! oh my god this is amazing

  • Bahaha I know right?

  • Jason and David are both very good bass players

  • Despite Megadeth being mostly around Dave Mustaine, since David Ellefson left, Megadeth doesn't say anything more to me. Maybe I'm just picky but David Ellefson made the difference. It's just weird to see Megadeth playing and not seeing David rocking the hell of that bass.

  • Megadeth is just about my favorite band and i still agree with you

  • friedman was what made the difference to me, dave should really change the name at this point though i think

  • @flaviusaetiuspt

Yeah, same here. Everytime I listen to Megadeth I'm like "Yeah! Dave Ellefson on bass guitar". It's weird not seeing him in Megadeth.

  • Kinda makes me wonder what Pantera would've been like without Rex. Sure his bass lines weren't exactly masterpieces of themselves, but they really made that sound in the band. I still can't believe how selfless Dime was to allow that much bass in the EQ. Gave me a whole new respect for him when I became a bassist and realized the sound that was there.

  • @guitargodfromhell yea, i think the guitar should sound as sharp as possible and let the bass fill in the bass feel, i dont like guitar players that make their guitar sound bassy lol, cause if they do then y have a bass player if the guitar player is gonna make the guitar sound like both in one lol

  • @flaviusaetiuspt same here, i love ellefson but after buying the last album holy shit its great and have the same respect for them

  • and what bass is that at 2:40?

  • Comment removed

  • Jackson I believe

  • Both Jacksons... the one on the right is a 5 string.

  • @AustralLord is Lucretia

  • And yeah, Jason isn't as good as this guy...at least not in the way he is needed

  • Nice Bass in these songs, I especially like how it goes along with the guitar! Is it me, or is he slapping some of it while playing with the guitar?

  • wake up dead is one of the best =)

  • Lucretia is one of the greatest, hardest and coolest bass line ever!

  • really? gotta look that up..

  • davids growling gnarly basslines kick ass especialy on rust in peace

  • I think that rust in peace is where he showed everything he had, like honestly every song in that album had an awesome bassline but their other albums were still great with him.

  • Good but, what about bad omen, my last words, etc, that are good ones too.

  • great picture at 1:04

  • lol

  • David Ellefson is mutch better than jason newsted

  • why did he leave anyway?

  • from what I've heard he when dave got in an accident and damaged his right hand, ellefson tried to sue him for loss profits, claiming he was trying to fake his injury so that he wouldn't have to be in megadeth anymore.

  • david ellefson needs to come back to the band

  • Now he plays with hard rock/heavy metal band called F5 and he played in some songs of the Ripper Owen´s new album. You should check them out. But I agree James LoMenzo is great but I prefer David Ellefson.

  • and whats the song at 1:42?? im new to megadeth

  • at the beginning, its go to hell, and at 1:42 its poison was the cure ; )

  • whats the song at the beggining, ive never heard it, its AWESOME =D

  • go to hell

  • how do they get that tone?

  • They play with a pick.

  • 210 is lucretia

  • i just picked up a jackson concert v bass. I LOVE IT!!!!

  • whats the song at 3:20?

  • uheuaehuaehuaehaua mix

  • take no prisoners

  • take no prisoners

  • take no prisoners

  • five magics

  • bad omen

  • anyone know what kind of bass he used to use back in the day? (the Jackson)

... and don't tell me "CMG concert bass" cuz they don't make those in neck through and he played a neck through

  • It was more then likely a custom bass built by Jackson.

  • its called a custom shop....

  • a: Jackson "What"

  • what bass is that on 2:10

  • Lucretia,,

  • what song is at 2:00

  • sure, the song is called poison was the cure

  • OH MY GOD!!! I OD'd!!! AAHHH, GOOD MUSIC OVERDOSE!

  • Ellefson is awesome.... just awesome.... needs my last words

  • what song is that at 2:17 :o

  • That song is Lucretia

  • This is great !!!

  • Ellefson owns!

  • Q pena, faltou a intro de Countdown to Extinction.

  • what song is at 3:46? eith the little bass solo?

  • take no prisoner

  • Ellefson owns!

  • what is he doing now? he is a great bass player.

  • He plays with F5

  • David was the coolest guy in Megadeth.

  • i agree, ellefson owns!! love him!

  • Dave Ellefson is one of the Greatest Rock Bassists of all time!

  • Anyone knows who are the models of Jackson Bass Guitar that Ellefson shows from 2:08 to 2:43?

  • Jackson CMG Concert Basses.

  • the job that effelson did in Rust in peace was really great!!!

  • can someone tell me the list of the songs

  • whats the song at 3:26?

  • Take No Prisoners

  • the song at 3:26 is Take no Prisoners

  • take no prisoners

  • yea they started making Jackson basses again but they they don't have the same pick ups as daves!

  • i think anything from rust in peace has good bass lines

  • i recomend the music man stingray 5...or like any type of jackson i have a jackson with two EMG's in it and i love it

  • go to hell is a sick song

  • one off my fav riffs

  • when playing any type of music, play whatever bass feels good to you!, then a BIG part of the deal is what amp you are using. if you don't have a good amp for the style you are going to be playing, everything will be uskess. i play all types of metal(to many genres to list) and use a Ibanez SR506 bass, and an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro w/ 8/10 cab. it's everything i could ask for in a bass and rig. Just play around and see what fits you the best.

  • get a jackson cmg concert bass, cant get more metal than that

  • Tobias has some amazing basses.

  • hey the song that starts off this vid is from bill and ted's bogus journey!!!

  • maybe a Warwick. I have one. Pretty nice :D

  • i would say wrwick esp or ibanaz iheard dean bases are pretty good although its a matter of taste What looks metal esp basses and dean basses

  • ellefson ows!!!

  • Killing is My Business, Peace sells = Rich Mockingbird

SFSGSW, RIP = Jackson Concert XL

  • Interesting now Dave works for Peavey guitars now!

  • lucretia

  • can anyone tell what bass is that at 2:09

    plz I'm dying aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh

  • Well its definitly a jackson

  • most of the songs in rust in peace and killing is my business (and their new albums) are very fucking hard to play, i admire david ellefson, plus, his live bass solo is fucking awesome, it has way more melody than most of the stuff other famouser bass players ever wrote, and its fucking hard to play

  • You should have put the bass solo from Chosen Ones, the opening of My Last Words, and about any part from Killing is My Business; mainly when Dave is saying "help me" with the bass interlude. From this seems like you don't listen to enough older Megadeth. Only song I saw before Rust in Peace was Peace Sells cause everyone who heard Megadeth heard that song. Killing is My Business if you ask me is their best. If you don't have it pick it up. It'll blow your mind till metal comes out your ass.

  • Sorry I mean Skull Beneath The Skin not Killing Is My Business. I was listening to Killing so I typed it by accident. Actually if you ask me personally Skull Beneath The Skin is the best Megadeth song in my opinion. Well up there with Set The World Afire. But thats off topic. Old school Megadeth is the way to go if you ask me. (Pre-Countdown To Extinction).

  • nice to see different point of views, that's one of the main points of youtube, well, indeed KIMB is a hell of an metal album, but I rather go for middle megadeth, so as you say I dont listen to much to older megadeth, because their songs are not as ear friendly as RIP's or CTE, and Mustaine vocals sound better in that albums, shame he lost his voice

  • Can't really except metal singers to keep their voice anyways. Well Mustaine probably has kept his singing voice the closest to what it was in the 80s. Hell look at Tom Araya and Chuck Billy compared to the 80's their voices went out the window. I actually suggested to my friend we should make a tomb stone and put "Chuck Billy's Voice" on it. It's hard to say what album I actually like more, Killing or RIP; they're both amazing. Everyone has their own opinion anyways. But stay metal dude.

  • l never liked Megadeth much, and yes l prefer metallica, but David Ellefson is awesome!

  • I saw a ellefson vs newstead video where it only played the intro to peace sells compared to a newstead solo, Ellefson kicks ass, you need to get the bass solo from chosen ones in there.

  • What's the song that starts a few seconds before 2mins? That bassintro is awesome!

  • I believe you are talking about poison was the cure, cool song BTW

  • yeah and wheres fuckin WAKE UP DEAD!?

  • Where's My Last Words? You forgot the best of them all ;)

  • The best Ellefson bassline of all time, in my opinion, is his all-over-the-place one in "Bad Omen".

  • he should have sticked with his jacksons or fenders.

  • !DAVID COME BACK TO MEGADETH!

  • wats the second song called ?

  • the first 2 are go to hell and the third is the five magics intro

  • you forgot Five magics, The Skull Beneath the Skin, and Chosen Ones!!!

    chosen oness!!

  • actually five magics is in this clip

  • go to hell from hidden treasures

  • wat song is that in the begining?

  • the song is "go to hell" really haha

  • Hes great.

  • Surprising how most songs on this list are from the Friedman era, with albums like cryptic writings hardly making a mention. Also the bass on United abonimations has very little presence.

  • agreed.

  • Thats because effelson didn't play on united abominations

  • thats not ellefson newb

  • that is him iddiot

  • time to use that lump above your ass you refer to as a brain: im saying that he didnt play on united abominations. Good job.

  • Ellefson's bass break in "Take No Prisoners" was ruined in the remixed, remastered album. There's no grit to it and it sounds out of place. Good show, using the old version.

  • fucking yes, I think it was unfair the sound used in the remix version

  • you should have some of the even older songs aswell, even more impressive bass work there if ya ask me... My last words \m/

  • nice pic at 1:04

  • One of the best.

  • OWNS

  • ELLEFSON OWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lomenzo is great.

  • Go To Hell, Lucretia, Holy Wars, and i think 99 ways to die are the ones i heard so far.

  • WAT ARE THE SONGS IN THIS VIDEO
