  • Theo is one of best drummers I've ever seen. He used to jam with my friend Dave in Thousand Oaks. This is like, 1988-1989. He used to do endless solos.

  • how much did yours cost? and are there any famous shamisen brands? i was also wondering where do you get the strings?

  • hi! i'm from california, and i as wondering where could i get a "traditionally" made shamisen? and how do you "exactly" tune one?

  • Shamisens are basically sold in Japan. They are tuned three different ways. intervallically1.) root-fourth-fourth. 2.) root-fourth-fifth 3.) root-fifth-forth.

Tradiitonally the shamisen is unbound by any key and is designed to flow swiftly from low to high tunings. However recently the root note of C has been adopted as a standard. The most popular modern tuning then being C-G-C.

  • How are you picking the strings at the beginning of the song? Are you hitting the neck with the bachi?

  • yeah, I think it was kind of like a combination of the bottom of the bachi and parts of my hand. thanks for posting! oh by the way did you get a message I wrote you?

  • yesh i did. thank you for responding.

  • that's a katoh-shamisen mugen21 right?

  • I like this one as much as the longer version from a few days ago.

  • yeah! Mugen 21! made by Shamisen Katoh in Tokyo! (2005 I think...)
