Alright so after rewatching this anime... I still dont' understand 18:27 to 18:46 When the hell does that take place. I haven't seen it in the anime at all. Could it be from the novels? Or is there more to the story that's not in the anime?

The story focuses on multiple characters' viewpoints and eventually you will see how each character's story intertwines with the others' stories. Not to spoil anything, but yes, some characters are immortal and some are not. The story is mainly in the 30s, but the dates always bounce around to give you flashbacks from different character perspectives. It gets pretty comlplex, but you'll get it. Definitely one of FUNimation's better shows. Sadly it's a short series.
