Hey. Time to shoot that watermelon full of Vodka, and stroll past the cops, into High Park, to watch a Lighthouse concert. Happy May 24th fellow Canucks !
Just to let you know that Lighthouse is still performing and sounding better than ever. Check out their website for tour dates and a history page that really fills you in on the band from the very beginning till now. They have a new CD/DVD that in the band's opinion is there best recording ever.
And thank you for posting this. This is one of those songs that nowadays, in spite of its quality, is just one of those that you only hear on one of those countdown shows for this date in(fill in year). You look around and find most songs fade from the airways wthin a couple of years after release, some for better reason than others.
way back in seventys our local radio station would play a 2 second sound clip of a song and if you phoned in a guessed the right band and song you could win money They played the part between.123 and 125. I won 123 dollars lol i was 8
I was a toronto native, and a friend Wolf Mueller (Curved Space) who was somehow involved with this group, and they payed a few parties for us - loved it
Wow - there was confusion between Lighthouse and Lighthouse Family?? Lighthouse Family were nowhere NEAR Lighthouse, in any way, musically, songwriting, etc. I think it's almost an insult to compare the two. Lighthouse were one of the finest bands in the world, from any country, ever! Lighthouse Family were just a poppy, schmaltzy "me too" outfit that offered nothing new or original to the music world.
Just came back from the 40th Anniversary Concert at the Queen Elizabeth Building in Toronto!!!! (Feb. 13th 2010) It was FANTASTIC!!! So was the AFTER PARTY!!!! Nice People all around!!!
A lot of musicians from the 60's and 70's were classically trained. Listen to the horns from B S & T, Chicago, Grass Roots, Malo, some Doors, Bo Donaldson, etc etc.
dont you think they have the right idea because all the man has planned is a police militiaistic world give me the sunshine f the police state and military world and global economy for 120 people!!!
It was a much simpler time back then. Just trying to bring a little of it back. Hope you find what you're looking for. The world has its problems, but it sure beats the alternative.
@garageband66 Right you are.......the best thing to do is just lay back and enjoy......this song means SUMMER to me, and I play it full blast on the first hot day. And on the coldest day to give me hope.......!
@garageband66 Bleh, maybe you were alive back then so you know better than me, but I hate when people say things like "everything was simpler back then" and "movies were better then" beacuse really it's only the important stuff and good movies that last, people don't like dwelling on crap. Music however, much much better back then.
This is perhaps my favorite summer song. It's a great song to listen to whether it's summer, or it's -30C out here in frigid Alberta, Canada. And besides, they're Canadian-what's not to like?
Than why did you bother searching for it on youtube? Thats like me saying "I hate getting beat up" than going downtown and picking a fight with twenty guys.
Good analogy, but I didn't search it. I was listening to Star Baby by the Guess Who and saw this in the related videos section. I wanted to make it known that this song drove me crazy every time I heard it at work. That explains my rationale.
Did he say that in the first comment? Maybe you could tell me why I didn't use my psycic abilities to forsee his response to my comment, or why I didn't use them to find out how he found the video. And shit, CLICKING A LINK TO A VIDEO YOU DON'T LIKE WOULD BE LIKE GOING TO THE BAR YOU LIKE AND LOOKING ACROSS THE SREET AT THE DIVE WITH THE WHORES AND GANGSTA'S AND SAYING "THATS WHERE I WANT TO BE"
No they had a few others but the law suits between the original Lighthouse and Lighthouse Family probably contributes to the confusion of just which band is responsible for which song. I have always liked "Pretty Lady" as well.
How I love this song... this is my and my hubby's marriage song. We listened it first the night before the ceremony on the radio and we loved it! Sunny days..... eh.....
When I was young my mom told me our generation's music wouldn't last like her generation's Big Band-era music would. I figured she was right even though I preferred unapologetic rock 'n' roll. Looking back, I know now that I lived though the greatest days of music ever, including songs like this one, without realizing it. Kudos to the present generation for, unlike my mom, not having too much pride to admit the truth. LOL.
Great song, too bad almost everyone of my generation aren't even aware of how good classic songs like these are (I'm 17). Comparing the songs of yesterday to today's, no competition.
Only one Original Lighthouse featuring the Late Bob McBride and Skip Prokop not the 2000's American Group who call themselves Lighthouse. As Jon Bauman aka Sha Na Na Bowser says before Supreme Court about Stealing Group Name Identity Theft Violations.
I never worked that hard when that song first came out but I did dabble in a few of those questionable activities. Man that seems like an eternity ago.
Hint: I found it too when the instant I wanted too. Here's how: If you even have a Dead Sea scroll fragment of memory of a lyric go to Gooooogle and typer as much as you can remember and any key words then types, 'lyrics'. Here I typed, 'Sunny days Sunny Sunny Sunny days radio' Gooogle found it for me. 'Lighthouse' >>>Go to Youtube >>> Youhave it.
The next time you talk to your uncle could you ask him if he sang the lead on the studio version of Pretty Lady. I have been having a running argument with someone for years who says that Skip Prokop sang the lead. I say it was your uncle.
Oh Not to worry garageband,3wives in 25 years is a charm first wife lets just say my son was worth it. The second was extreem long distance. The 3rd. Shes the meanest looking redhead, She has more brains then i do and i would never change her for anyone.

That's why I do it, so no one forgets. There's a lot of great stuff that never gets played anymore. Bruce was right when he called it "Radio Nowhere".
