OMG, this is SO GOOD!! Wowwww...I definitley remember seeing this when I was a kid...is there anything out there that compares to this type of comedy - or just plain chemistry? I can't think of anything.
Man: What kind of ice cream? Waitress: All kinds of ice cream. We got plum and rum and bubble-gum, We got prune, balloon and macaroon, We got grape and ape and scotch tape, We got lime and grime and chocolate slime, Sasparilla, manzanilla, caterpillar And, of course, there's just plain old-fashioned gorilla. What'll it be? Man: Let's forget about it, lady. I'll just trot on over here to the laundromat and have myself a bowl of soap flakes. Waitress: Did you hear that?
We got a green salad Sardine salad Tangerine salad Magazine salad Jelly bean salad Blue jean salad And the special today -- gasoline salad. Man: Gasoline! Lady, you gotta be kidding! Waitress: No, sir. That is delicious. Every six thousand miles they change the oil On the dressing! Man: Forget about the gasoline. Maybe I'll just have a dessert. Now, surely you got some simple dessert. Waitress: Lots. Man: You got ice cream? Waitress: We got ice cream.
We got (a) ham sandwich Or a jam sandwich Like a lamb sandwich Or a clam sandwich Alabam' sandwich That's a yam sandwich Or how about a telegram sandwich? Man: This I gotta see. Bring me a telegram sandwich. Waitress: Sorry, I can't bring it to you. You have to eat it over the phone! Man: Forget about the sandwich. (Let's) see what else you got on the menu here. Oh, I know! You got salads? Waitress: We got salads. Man: What kind of salads? Waitress: All kinds of salads.
Man: You got soup? Waitress: We got soup. Man: What kind of soup? Waitress: All kinds of soup. We got beet soup, That's a sweet soup, Then there's meat soup, Parakeet soup, Shredded wheat soup, Concrete soup, And the special today -- dirty feet soup. Man: Dirty feet? Forget about the soup. Let's see what you got on the menu here. You got sandwiches? Waitress: We got sandwiches. Man: What kind of sandwiches? Waitress: All kinds of sandwiches.
i never realized that the EC starred, rita moreno, morgan freeman, and bill cosby... i'm like, rediscovering EC all over again... totally freakin' cool...
I love this bit. I cannot believe that one of the cast members from the new Electric Company told a story on The Today Show that a cab driver mentioned that he bought the classic EC DVDs for his kids and that they were so bored. First of all, even if that was the case, the actor from the new show should have NEVER repeated anything negative about the original show. You don't say negative stuff about Moreno, Freeman, Cosby, Graubart, etc.
Seriously, I think Rita is the last of a kind, from when the studios taught almost anyone who graced a screen how to sing, dance and act. I think we can count on one hand the people today, even in theatre, who can do all that as well as she can.
A true classic skit! And as funny as it is I have to ask, why is Morgan asking what Rita has when he has a menu right infront of him?

I'm guessing that since this is the 1970's the gasoline salad was expensive and frequently unavailable.

Yesterday, 12-11-2010, Mz Moreno became 79 years old, 'cording to the paper. In my mind, however, she will always be as young as she is here.

@tubafoole Do you remember the "Lemon and Lime" sketch (from E.C.)?
That one was hysterical!

@mwhite36 I wish I had the sketch about the lemon and lime cone. I remember that one very clearly and it was hilarious.

Why can't kids shows be this awesome anymore? What was it about the 70's that made people... awesome?
riffology 1 year ago 3
@riffology I think it's because despite their massive talent, there wasn't a lot of ego....and they had a great sense of humor.
