@antonis958 Technically yes but when moving around the kit the straps would affect his range of movement and preciseness and speed of movement in his arms. Whereas with his feet, he uses heel up (uses entire leg to produce stroke) so my guess is the chair didn't offer much support either, which would make double bass harder.

Plus it just didn't look like a natural playing position, which inhibits technique and can produce pain.
