  • Changing mine even though I'm way under the miles at 140000. I've owned it since 19000, has been the best vehicle I've ever owned.

  • It's very critical that folks simply review the maintenance schedule in the manual. It is also recommended that the transmission fluid is changed every 30k and apparently the 04-09 models have defective spark plugs that won't last the 100k mile interval because the threads are to long into the engine. This allows carbon build up and seizing and plugs to break off. They can only be changed when cold to avoid breaking.

  • 204K 03 model f150, I don't think it's been changed either. I think I'll be changing mine today...I'll do that test as well and see what comes out

  • Will kill a fuel pump and I have seen this a lot because of the fuel pump going bad.Plugged up fuel filter puts a strain on the fuel pump.

  • @wafrederick +100% to that. My 01 F150 started to erratically fail to start, it was getting spark but just wouldn't start. Took it to the dealer, they said the fuel filter was completely clogged so they changed it. Also said the fuel pump might be damaged because of the suction pressure from the lack of fuel getting to it. Sure enough, 1 week later I had the same problem so I had the pump changed and the problem went away. Change that filter every 30,000 miles.

  • thats the good thing to do if you own high millage car and you dont know if the fuel filter change was done change it i only 10$ you car will run better and save your fuel pump which is pretty expensive

  • Those are the big problems on the 5.4s the fuel filters clog up really fast

  • I'm convinced. Changing my F150 filter (175K miles) tomorrow. Doubt it's ever been changed.

  • I didn't monitor mpg around this period. But you got me thinking! I miss all the gauges available while in the navy :o)

  • Did you get any better fuel economy.
