He has condemned Western policy toward middle east in many of his lectures, this Fatwa event was exclusive for those who has claimed that it is lawful to kill Muslim and non Muslim innocent civilian in the name of their specific ideology call KHAWARIZM .. one khalifa for whole Ummah and whole Ummah is doing shirk so kill them as much you can .. I'm glad that a prominent scholar has come out and condemned that which is unacceptable Islamiclaly and universally. Many average Muslims have been condemning it too, but for him to say it is much more significant, and recognized. I hope it succeeds in showing both those who are suspicious of Muslims as well as impressionable Muslim youth that terrorism is not a part of Islam.

@JustPhilNY there are other people that have spoken out about this before him about this matter. Its just that in the last few years most rigorous form of fatwa have been released. I know of one work of 600 pages by a scholar in Pakistan that has dealt with this subject In DEPTH. Clearly showing that the people like the Taliban are not being Islamic at all.
