I'm not sure why that guy kept calling it a transmission...That is a Transaxle...because hence the name..the axle is inside the trans...Which is why its called a Transaxle...BUT on a side not, some older riding mowers used have transmissions and had a chain driven rear axle...Also anyone wanting to know what kind of mower that is..its a 80s model Murray wide body. six speed transaxle.

it a real bummer you dont live near me i have a undefeted mower but it a lot more built then yours by a loootttttt and it kinda tops at 65mph...

the motor is NOT stock it's a 12hp block with a 4 degree timing advancement and 10hp l head for incerased compression. it has a .190 degree exhaust cam and .210 intake cam lobit totle of 180psi of compression!

the chassie is offset for oval racing i also have a a quick change for reg racing. there is 4 pullys on it so yeah you lose =P nice though

Nope...It sure wouldn't...In the USLMRA some of those engine push out some major HP....Look up G-Team racing...check out their engines.

Haha, i built a gocart last year, out of the exact same ride on! I put the gear ratio up 6x by switching the pulley wheels!! Then i blew the gearbox!

That little hole in the tranny is no big deal, just wrap some duck tape around it and you're good to go!

Well that seems to be a murray mower i had one like it once before most murrays like his come with a 6 speed transalxe and they are usely peerless transaxles they are pretty good for racing but sometimes those murrays have a foote transaxle (Not good for going fast because they will blow up like his did) and by the way anyone making a mower faster should put gear oil in the transaxles with the grease!!

you should put a mixture of 50% 00 grease and 50% 90 weight oil in the tranny. when your going that fast the stock grease just flings off and doesn't lubricate. Also you might want to put some sealer around the 2 halves of the trans. case to keep it from possibly leaking.

dude thats sweet but it doesnt go 45mph it goes 45kmh theres a difference and for all u guys that want to make yours fast just get a bigger pully, 6 inch will get u between 65 to 80kmh depending on the engine,( i got 6.5hp) 197cc and i got 5 inch pully it goes around 65 more info just leave a comment in my profile... anyways nice work man hope u get that trans fixed soon lookin forward to more vids from ya :P

Yep, spiders are the weak link. Perfected my welding technique for them and and haven't had any problems. Darn things are cast and break easily.

Blew my tranny twice so far. Welded the spider gears, and they broke on me. Makes for nice holes. Luckly I have a couple of spares.

you have to be careful with welding the spider gears because when they break, the pieces can get thrown into the other gears and mess up more than you can replace. you will end up replacing the entire tranny.

When i put my hot rod Lawn Mower together, my dad said it would prolly be best if i just took a honda 250 engine/tranny combo out of a 1980's 3 wheeler for side shaft performance...and of course i'm sure that includes a few clutch mods, solid axle (with chain wheel) conversion, but ne suggestions or better yet, a guide? =O
