i'm ashamed to admit it but i too fell for edward cullen, c'mon he's hot, but fortunately i was raised on interview with the vampire and buffy the vampire slayer and vampires are creatures of the night god damn it...lets keep it that way! sorry edward you ain't got shit on lestat, to be honest twilight hasn't done any favours for the whole bad ass vampire thing, joss whedon and anne rice should be pissed at what twilight has done to their beloved creatures!

@QAF4life I was raised reading Bram Stoker. And then, in 1993, My father purchased Interview with the Vampire. It was a year before the film came out and about several months after I finished reading it...The film's trailers came out. Oh, and Anne Rice called the Twilight Saga "A failure of the imagination" go to MTV.com and read the interview.

@QAF4life The Twilight Vampires, aren't even Vampires. They're freaking faries, haha! Might as well be! Stephenie meyer said they didn't have fangs, they sparkled in the sun, and they went to school. Hmm, more like supernatural louis Vuitton models rather than Vampires themselves! Ugh, I hate how that awful series ruined the Vampire Metaphor and mythology. God! What is with that woman. Anne Rice's Vamps are more dark and adventurous.

I was at San Diego Comic Con three years ago when she and the rest of the cast were promoting the first film, and this is what Stephenie Meyer said, "Oh, there was no inspiration for this novel other than my dream. Uhm, to be honest, I never liked Vampires, or any type of horror. I never researched them...this is how they came to me." There in lies her failure within that statement.

I love the movie (and have it on VHS, watched it nearly every night since I got it).

I wish I had the sequel, "Queen Of The Damned" (Don't know why they had the former villain as the hero in it though).

I wish I had the soundtrack (Elliot Goldenthal's wild ride of incoherency and randomness is always great!).

And I wish i had the books.

But sadly no. I don't have them.

@pheo99nix I'm sorry, I'm only being honest-not mean, but Queen of the Damned was so stupid. It ruined Anne Rice's work. They combined The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned into one film. They reversed lines, reversed the original material and had awful casting. Tom Cruise read the script and and said he didn't want to participate in it and Anne Rice tried to stop the studio from making the film because readers wanted a film based on the second, The Vampire Lestat.

Anne Rice's vampires are what vampires should be. While I like vampire stories, none will be as good or as deep as hers are. I would love to be a vampire from her novels. Maybe a vampire from 5000 years ago. The characters are so well developed that when I was reading her books, I could not put them down.

I read 'Interview with the Vampire' for my senior english class in High school, and could not put the book down. I could read that book a dozen times, and not tire of it.

@japanimefan02 Have to agree with you! Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles is an amazing series! I remember reading Interview with the Vampire and then seeing the movie 2 years ago, must say both the novel and film were amazing even though the novel has more detail. Best series i've ever read and to this day i often go back and re-read the novels.
