Ubuntu 11.10 will NOT have Classic Gnome Desktop at log-in they are removing it for good. The new numbers show that the popularity of Ubuntu is dropping , and many people are switching to Linux Mint . We told them Unity wasn't a good idea , but they didn't care what the community had to say .
The window snap thing has been available for Linux for years, but you have to add it as a command to Compiz Fusion . I think that the "global menu" in Mac , and Ubuntu is an out-dated idea that has no place in today's world , and only works well for small screens or if you only have one screen . GNOME is also way less buggy than Unity , and in opinion GNOME is way better . GNOME3 is cool , but I like GNOME2 better .
@winsevenholic with 1.5 GB ram, it would run perfectly because it doesn't take that much of resources. Linux is light and fast so with that much ram you have it will run perfectly without an issue.
@winsevenholic The performance is perfect for me on my system with no bugs no errors. They built this release pretty amazingly. I didn't have any problems quite yet.
@TechChater how much your ram..? and your processor..?
and, i want install that on my OLD laptop.. with 1,5GB ram and celeron 1,7GHz with total HD is 67GB and now just free 24GB.. how much ram i need for ubuntu..?
@winsevenholic I have 4GB ram with my Dual Core 3.06 GHz and 1TB HD. I would say around 1 GB ram would be just fine. In your case with your 1.5 GB ram you would be fine. But if your laptop is old your laptop would revert ubuntu 11.04 into the classic version instead of the Unity interface. But that's only when your computer wouldn't be able to process Unity. To run Unity your laptop would need a graphics card or even on board graphics.
who watched this video just to look at his background?

@TechChater ok.. between this version.. and 10.10
which look better from performance and easy for use..?
winsevenholic 10 months ago
@winsevenholic In my personal opinion I think Ubuntu 11.04 is easier to use because everything you need is on the dock for fast access.
