I can't imagine what a nightmare it must be to have this guy for a father-" YOU DON'T HAVE A CHILD SUPPORT PROBLEM, YOU HAVE A SPENDING PROBLEM! THAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF!"
Mortgage brokers made a profit selling sub-prime loans! The gov didn't make them do that!!! Joe Walsh is a fucking liar! Only a small percent to mortgages were subject to fed review under CRA. The problem was the desire to tell people they could afford something risky because it was PROFITABLE. Then Republicans convinced Clinton to let Wall St sell those loans as investment products! VOILA! Global financial meltdown because of DEREGULATION!!!
All right, Dist 116. You go! My natural (?) assumption was that Walsh had tried to squelch it! I'd want to if I were Joe Walsh; I'd want to crawl in a hole and pull the hole in after myself. I want to see this video go viral. If he were my employee I'd fire him.
@MrTedvothjr It has already gone viral due to pirating because I had the 50 minute version marked 'no-embedding'. @MrTedvothjr One other thing comes to mind as I re-read your comment. I don't even have a contact number for Walsh. I'm just like everyone else having to call his office or sending an email to his .gov email address. Joe, I read these shameful comments about you and it makes me wonder yet again, why our citizens are so blind to the truth. They can curse, call you a liar, a dead beat dad and know nothing about you and your solid integrity. If statesmen such as yourself are not appreciated, our beloved country is doomed to Socialism. God bless you and keep the fire burning.
Shows he knows nothing, deregulation (repeal of glass steagall) cause much of the problems with the banks. What caused the deregulation was bank lobbyist in Washington to deregulate. Money in politics ans weak no nothing politictans or polititions putting themselves ahead without concern of our nation, country or our peoples.
i love the guy who says we should do racial profiling. since most serial killers are usually tend to be crazy middle aged white males like him, we should profile him as well!
Joe's arguing the wrong points. Both the government and the banks are to blame for the crap economy. But in the big picture, those banks own the government. BREAK THAT CONNECTION. We need to elect NEW representatives, and only the ones who promise that they won't take contributions from corporations.
*sigh*..........I don't have to agree with Joe.....I don't have to agree with Melissa......but I DO know how to RESPECTFULLY disagree with someone because I'm an ADULT. We all have opinions, so the odds of us agreeing on certain things is slim to none. After reading these comments and watching this video the common denominator is the lack of RESPECT we have in this country and this shows it smh...
by his own words, he endorses monopolies and there for an oligarchy... he would create a world that would require the people to rise up and revolt... he's soooo stupid.
I hope everyone that voted for this wacko has learned what exactly he's all about... doesn't pay his bills, and it's not his fault. No he doesn't think greed is bad, when infact greed is what caused all these problems... not government.
@kathyannlong you know kathy, i live in chicago and his district is suburban cook county and its the culture that exists out there that breeds guys like joe walsh. even when you go out there which is in the middle of nowhere btw, im talking like 30 miles outside of the city limits of chicago and these people are just total nutcases. basically they move out there to get away from the diversity of chicago. its called 'white flight' and sadly these people are a product of chicago's race politics.
Joe says, " Unions have tons of money and use it as they should." BS! I have been in the Illinois teacher's union for 23 years and we all know how broke that pension system is!!! The union has done nothing to help remedy the situation, but only give more monies to those union leaders that are supposed to be helping us. I'm in the trenches while others are reaping the rewards!!!
Reagan's sound bite, "government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem," has become a self fulfilling prophecy. Why do we want the people who are RUNNING our government to believe this? They then are not the least bit constructive. If they have no faith in government, to have them run it has been the exact recipe for the disaster we are in.
Republicans always flip out when confronted with facts. They think if they repeat a lie often enough it becomes truth. The Fed, the Wall St Journal, Business Week, congressional investigations have all come to the conclusion that CRA had little or nothing to do with this crisis. Most of the people who had subprime mortgages had a score high enough for a conventional mortgages. Most of the subprime loans were written by mortgage companies not subject to CRA regulations.
"Government bad...Big Business good".....funny how unconvincing that mantra is when people confront it with facts...no wonder Joe loses his temper and has to show his real bullying character.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I like Representative Walsh from Illinois much better than that foreign lying piece of sludge Obama that came out of Illinois but not from Illinois! We all know where Obama is from.
The problem with this country is that someone like Melissa doesn't get to go to congress but we literally have HUNDREDS of these ignorant assholes like walsh who run "my government"
What a fucking asshole. How can he defend getting into that woman's face like that? If he treated my wife like that, yelling at her two inches away from her, I would have been arrested 'cos I would never stand for that; don't care who he thinks he is. Little pricks like Jo-Jo are just bullies who will fold the minute you challenge them.
The deadbeat dad congressman has suppressed guilt that comes out as "passion." Hopefully he'll be voted out next time. And who the hell is he to shout and point at the guy to be quiet or he was going to ask him to leave? The guy was asking a question in a normal tone, Joe was the only one shouting and almost out of control. All his excuses are BS, just as his reasoning. THE GUY HAS GOT TO GO.
can't believe that older gentlemen actually compared the GOP trying to take away people's right to vote to the bogus foxnews story about the black panthers. He's the reason we have that dumbass walsh in washington.
Joe isn't "passionate" he's an ignorant loudmouth fool. He the lady and gentleman talking about att and the banks are 100% correct. Joe needs to be educated. Scary this ignoramus is running the government. no wonder this country is fucked
@ejhibbs the country is fucked because idiots like you want a nanny government to put in regulations to cover your phone bill - if your bill is wrong, sue them - regulations have fucked up enough and fucktardz like you want more because you are too pathetic to handle a fucking phone bill
Walsh lied, then silenced other when called out on it. What got us here is ending Glass Steagall Act in 1999 letting banks be their own debt. Also no regulation. Dodd Frank is impotent. Out of 400 provision, only 38 have passed. 38. Why? B/c corporate lobbyists, & corporate PAC $ won't let them pass without watering them down making em useless. This man is an economic idiot. He should study Keynesian economics. Friedman's Ayn Rand Free Market got us here, now he wants more of it
@Tranacria I have a degree in economics, but learn things daily. The Fannie Freddie lie as the only main cause has been promoted constantly by the far Tea Party right. It had a roll, but not to the extend your lies contend. The banking crisis is directly related to Phil Gramm pushing ending Glass Steagall Act. Look it up
@Bolgernow then sue the university that sold you that degree - because you are flat out wrong - without idiot democrap economists that had a theory to force bad loans, there would be no loans to repackage
@Bolgernow Congratulations! Regardless of your opinion “professor”, the subprime environment was created by years of statist government policies…starting with the 1977 CRA. Without the feds, the subprime market would not exist. Banks and private lending institutions, along with the largest real-estate broker on the planet; Fannie and Freddie were forced by federal policy and rhetoric to issue risky loans, they would not otherwise have made. “Red-lining”; look it up!
@Tranacria Right, a law passed in 1977 was the cause of the mortgage crisis in 2008, which was of course completely unaffected by the repeal of Glass-Steagall in 1999 (which allowed Too Big to Fail to become a thing) and the sale of bundled mortgages as securities.
@Tranacria you don't even know basic facts. The banks lend to whomever they wish. Fannie & Freddie give the banks incentives to lend & guarantee it, but ultimately it's the BANK that LENDS the $. They stupidly lent jumbo loans, 2nd/3rd mortgages, & refi's to people who couldn't afford it. The fault is both ways, but it's preditorial in nature. Address Glass Steagall Act ending, banks buying/selling credit default swaps, Wall Street shorting mortgages, & toxic debt being packaged as assets?
Melissa, YOU made this video worth watching. How you kept smiling as "Congressman Joe" yelled and over talked you, made your statements that much stronger! Are you sure you do not want to run for a seat in the Congress ??? You'd have MY vote for sure!
The federal government operating outside its enumerated functions will muck it up. We now live in a post-Constitutional society and have only ourselves to blame. We’ve been dumb-downed by a corrupt media and shirked our responsibility to protect our own liberties provided by the Constitution.
Elected federal officials will honor their oath only if we demand it. The consequences failing to do so stare us in the face as I write this.
@Tranacria he's not going down swinging. he completely mis-understands the problem. the problem is unregulated business that brought this recession on.
@giovannito858 It is not the Congressman who is misinformed sir. Without the feds role in creating subprime mortgages, there would be no toxic assts to sell, bundle, or trade and the derivatives would have been sound. Unlike the chicken/egg quandary, we know which came first.
Has this ignorant fool started paying his child support yet? Maybe he should save the lecturing for when he can live up to his basic responsibilities as a parent and a human being.
What he is most adamant about, he's also the most wrong about. It wasn't the govt that forced people to sign sub-prime loans. Clinton basically handed the reigns to the banking industry and Bush paid no attention other than to tell people to shop, shop, shop and buy, buy, buy. The perfect one two punch and the banks got all the money.
What a class act.... He has no idea what a "representative" is... I'm rubbing my hands together with this one. I'm Frank McClatchey, and I'm running for Congress is The Il 14th (Joe's Dist) stop by at mcclatcheyforcongress. com
This Walsh is a real ding dong. Yelling louder does'nt make him right - it just proves how ignorant he is. He seems to think he is the only one who knows anything.
Republican Rep. Joe Walsh was the only Illinois congressman to be named a “True Blue” member of Congress for “unwavering support of the family” by the Family Research Council Action committee.
Walsh’s ex-wife says Walsh owes more than $100,000 in back child support for their three children.
I think Melissa should run for his seat in the next election! ....LOL!! She came prepared with facts and it seems she kept him on his toes the entire time with intelligent questions. .
God, what a psychopath! Seriously, this guy is a fascist creep with control and anger issues. Plus, he is just plain wrong. I hope this is used against him in a campaign commercial. What a creep.
The Glass-Steagall Act controlled banking for about 80 years. The Repub's and their Corp masters devised a Bill to rob the American public legally.
Look up the bill below.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, Pub. L. No. 106-102, 113 Stat. 1338 (November 12, 1999
So in a span of five seconds he says how he understands how Giant Corporations and the Big Government are swapping employees back and forth and are in bed together, then screams "But that's not the point!", and proceeds to rant about how everything is the Big Government's fault, and not the Giant Corporation's fault. Huh????
I rec'd (like) this but Rep Walsh uses physical intimidation and yelling to make his point. Good on whomever taped this, but Rep Walsh does not fair well in my opinion.
I'm just going to point this out for all you morons that think she was the only sane person in the room. In that entire group at the end of the video, the Majority Agreed with Joe "Not" her. And according you all of you Useful Idiots doesn't that mean she is wrong and they are right? Or is it only the case when the majority is agreeing with you? If that's the case, you all lose.
@ScytheGames Timmy, it's time to get off the computer. You know your father will be home soon and he doesn't like to see you in your underwear eating Cheetos in the living room. Go clean your room and stay off of the computer. Also, who is this Bob guy? Are you close?
@ScytheGamesMommy Wow dude talk about stalking and no life, you are at the top of that list. You are so bored and worthless you made an account just to post that message. What sort of sad life you must live. Are you still on your parents Healthcare? You should really get out and get a Girlfriend or boyfriend if you swing that way.
If Walsh's future opponent, whoever he or she is, can't get at least 3 or 4 commercials out of Joe acting like the whiny little child he truly is, I'll be very disappointed.
This Walsh guy is a total lunatic! He is years behind on his kid's child support payments, which are now $114,000 and refuses to pay it. Then, he has the nerve to rant against the very government that pays his salary. He tells a citizen he'll ask him to leave the restaurant they are in, but it's a public place and Big Joe Walsh is just a loud-mouth, corporate shill idiot.
What an asshat! Pay your child support, you deadbeat jerk! If I were one of your constituents and you spoke to me like that, you scum bag, you would have been wearing my coffee. Loser!
The apparently the Republican senator thinks he's some kind of pint-sized tyrant. Doesn't this fuckwit understand that in a Democracy he's responsible to all of us, not the other way around.
@miccheckoakland The United States of America is a **REPUBLIC** NOT A DEMOCRACY! LEARN THE DIFFERENCE! Just listen to the Pledge Of Allegiance, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with Liberty and justice for all! As I see it, you're the FUCKWIT! The democratic party is responsible for the existence of & damage done by Freddie Mac & Fanny Mae to this country. Bet you're paid by the dems.
@Ihatepoliticians2 OK I didn't go to Glenn Beck University or wherever you LEARNED THE DIFFERENCE, and I learned we live in a democratic republic. What is the difference and how does it apply to the banking crisis?
@treehornshrinks I didn't say it applied to the banking crisis. I was responding to a remark made by miccheckoakland who thinks we're a democracy. He said: "The apparently the Republican senator thinks he's some kind of pint-sized tyrant. Doesn't this fuckwit understand that in a Democracy he's responsible to all of us, not the other way around.
Change this screwed up system! Join Occupy!" I was correcting him on what kind of gov we have.
@treehornshrinks The difference between a democracy & a republic is:
Democratic system of govt: a system of govt based on the principle of majority decision-making or majority rules.
Republic govt: a political system or form of govt in which people elect representatives to exercise power for them.
Think of it like this, the democracy wants youtube to go away. There's a vote of the people & the yes vote has 1 more than the no vote, that means bye bye youtube because majority rules.
@Ihatepoliticians2 How does that affect the way you view banking? And yes, clearly we don't live in a pure democracy, it's a representative democracy and the representatives are constrained by the constitution, but why is it that the distinction between "democracy" and "republic" is so often presented as if it is a trump card to end all argument?
@treehornshrinks W/a Republic we have a constitution that guarantees our freedom & rights. With a Democracy, there is no constitution to make these guarantees. Our president & current govt is constantly ignoring our constitution which is the law of the land. We should impeach those govt officials but they are steadily taking away our freedom & rights so we won't be able to stop them. Get it straight, I'm not discussing my views on banking, just the difference between a Republic & a Democracy.
@miccheckoakland Capitalism isn't perfect by any means, but it is A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM! That's the way this country is headed. You will have a rude awaking if this happens. Do you think that you would matter to a communist government? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! Any government ruled by man is flawed & imperfect but Capitalism is the best choice out there. This country has faired much better under Capitalism than any other country in the world under any other system ever!
@Ihatepoliticians2 So is that why the global economy is on the brink of collapse and America is in decline? Because "Capitalism Rocks"? If capitalism rocks so hard why did banks need a socialist handout from the government to keep the global economy from collapsing?
Face it, government and capitalism have failed us. You can feel it in your bones that those who supposedly serve us in corporations and government just don't give a sht about average American. Either fight or slink away. Your choice
This guy is disgustingly deranged, his life is run by the money he takes. He's gone the extra mile other corrupt senators and congressmen have the sanity not to take, and that's to BELIEVE the baseless bullshit, big money pays him to spew.
No no no, Joe's kids don't have a child support problem, they have a spending problem. They're just looking for a handout...

We need to elect NEW representatives, and only the ones who promise that they won't take contributions from corporations.

Bolgernow 3 months ago 4
Tranacria 3 months ago
@Tranacria Right, a law passed in 1977 was the cause of the mortgage crisis in 2008, which was of course completely unaffected by the repeal of Glass-Steagall in 1999 (which allowed Too Big to Fail to become a thing) and the sale of bundled mortgages as securities.
treehornshrinks 3 months ago
@Tranacria you don't even know basic facts. The banks lend to whomever they wish. Fannie & Freddie give the banks incentives to lend & guarantee it, but ultimately it's the BANK that LENDS the $. They stupidly lent jumbo loans, 2nd/3rd mortgages, & refi's to people who couldn't afford it. The fault is both ways, but it's preditorial in nature. Address Glass Steagall Act ending, banks buying/selling credit default swaps, Wall Street shorting mortgages, & toxic debt being packaged as assets?

The federal government operating outside its enumerated functions will muck it up. We now live in a post-Constitutional society and have only ourselves to blame. We’ve been dumb-downed by a corrupt media and shirked our responsibility to protect our own liberties provided by the Constitution.
Elected federal officials will honor their oath only if we demand it. The consequences failing to do so stare us in the face as I write this.
God bless you sir, for going down swinging.
Tranacria 3 months ago
@Tranacria he's not going down swinging. he completely mis-understands the problem. the problem is unregulated business that brought this recession on.
giovannito858 3 months ago
@giovannito858 It is not the Congressman who is misinformed sir. Without the feds role in creating subprime mortgages, there would be no toxic assts to sell, bundle, or trade and the derivatives would have been sound. Unlike the chicken/egg quandary, we know which came first.
Please educate yourself.

bigshirtlessmat 3 months ago
What he is most adamant about, he's also the most wrong about. It wasn't the govt that forced people to sign sub-prime loans. Clinton basically handed the reigns to the banking industry and Bush paid no attention other than to tell people to shop, shop, shop and buy, buy, buy. The perfect one two punch and the banks got all the money.

treehornshrinks 3 months ago
@miccheckoakland The United States of America is a **REPUBLIC** NOT A DEMOCRACY! LEARN THE DIFFERENCE! Just listen to the Pledge Of Allegiance, "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with Liberty and justice for all! As I see it, you're the FUCKWIT! The democratic party is responsible for the existence of & damage done by Freddie Mac & Fanny Mae to this country. Bet you're paid by the dems.
Ihatepoliticians2 3 months ago
@Ihatepoliticians2 OK I didn't go to Glenn Beck University or wherever you LEARNED THE DIFFERENCE, and I learned we live in a democratic republic. What is the difference and how does it apply to the banking crisis?
treehornshrinks 3 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@treehornshrinks I didn't say it applied to the banking crisis.
Ihatepoliticians2 3 months ago
@treehornshrinks The difference between a democracy & a republic is:
Democratic system of govt: a system of govt based on the principle of majority decision-making or majority rules.
Republic govt: a political system or form of govt in which people elect representatives to exercise power for them.
Think of it like this, the democracy wants youtube to go away. There's a vote of the people & the yes vote has 1 more than the no vote, that means bye bye youtube because majority rules.
Ihatepoliticians2 3 months ago
@Ihatepoliticians2 How does that affect the way you view banking? And yes, clearly we don't live in a pure democracy, it's a representative democracy and the representatives are constrained by the constitution, but why is it that the distinction between "democracy" and "republic" is so often presented as if it is a trump card to end all argument?
treehornshrinks 3 months ago
@treehornshrinks W/a Republic we have a constitution that guarantees our freedom & rights. With a Democracy, there is no constitution to make these guarantees. Our president & current govt is constantly ignoring our constitution which is the law of the land. We should impeach those govt officials but they are steadily taking away our freedom & rights so we won't be able to stop them. Get it straight, I'm not discussing my views on banking, just the difference between a Republic & a Democracy.
Ihatepoliticians2 3 months ago
@miccheckoakland Capitalism isn't perfect by any means, but it is A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN SOCIALISM/COMMUNISM! That's the way this country is headed. You will have a rude awaking if this happens. Do you think that you would matter to a communist government? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! Any government ruled by man is flawed & imperfect but Capitalism is the best choice out there. This country has faired much better under Capitalism than any other country in the world under any other system ever!
Ihatepoliticians2 3 months ago
@Ihatepoliticians2 So is that why the global economy is on the brink of collapse and America is in decline? Because "Capitalism Rocks"? If capitalism rocks so hard why did banks need a socialist handout from the government to keep the global economy from collapsing?
Face it, government and capitalism have failed us. You can feel it in your bones that those who supposedly serve us in corporations and government just don't give a sht about average American. Either fight or slink away. Your choice
