@starwarsjunkiie yes, there is a mouse builders club as well as a r2 builders club. To join all you have to do is go to yahoo. Select news groups and do a search by mouse builders and sign up. Most of the mouse builders are also r2 builders.

It's strange... in the old republic, the astromech droids would always have computer terminal slicers and built in combat system. in the clone wars... (r2-d5 and d2 for instance)... they removed the built in combat system and just kept the computer terminal slicers.

slideshow is supposed to be making a scale r2 but it is not to be rc controlled. To have your own full scale RC operational r2 you do have to build it.

It is actually metalic purple, with metalic black areas. It changes a little in darkness with the light.

it is only capable of driving around, dome operation, scrolling marquee on the logics on command, movable holoprojector with on and off lights, and of course standard lights and sounds controlled by rc. it is purely for entertainment.

The cost of one truely depends on the person and their abilities to make something. I have seen an r2 as cheap as $500 and some that are sever grand in price.
