Thought you might like to know: I featured this video of yours in my article, "Retroland: Disneyland Through the Ages - Part 1" (I'd link if YouTube allowed).
I'm a big fan of your virtual ride-thru DVD. I bought it years ago when it first came out, and have treasured it ever since. In my article, I point people to your website and let them know the full-length version is available for purchase.
Nice job. Looks almost identical to the actual ride. I thought that was one of the coolest rides in the park when I was there at the tender age of 13. Wish I could go back and time and see the old park as it was "back in the day". Such good times...
@sonic619760 . I like how you picked that line up. We go to Disneyland all the time, and during the firework show, when he says Magnification, I don't think anyone has a clue where it's from. It was a great ride that used to reside exactly where Star Tours is now.
@chumbersdee Thank you. Ah lucky! Haha, its been hard for use to go alot since we been broke :(. Anyways, I never been on that ride though, it looks cool. Actually, disneylands tomorrow land back then was more futuristic I think. What was the ride about anyways?
@sonic619760 , It was a ride that you first entered thru a giant microscope and it was seem as if you were getting smaller. First you'd see huge snowflakes, then molecules (which everyone called the Mickey Mouse heads), and finally a huge atom. then you'd return to normal. Near the end you'd see a big eyeball looking down at you, like we were the specimen. It was my favorite ride of alltime at Disneyland. I'll always have a grudge against Star Tours, just for the reason that it took it's place.
I bought this just to support this wonderful crazy person's fabulous efforts! Thank you so much I played it in a room full of people and we all cried. BUY IT!
I was pretty small riding this ride, but it completely enthralled my imagination - that's what tomorrowland was then. That's why Tomorrowland was my favorite place - Inner Space, Mission to Mars. All the things we could look forward to doing, a whole universe to explore. Then it all turned to shit. Without Walt, all the MBAs could do was make it a marketing tool - to promote the movies! Now Tomorrowland is a sad sad place. No soul or imagination or hope. NO HOPE. Miss this ride and the old days.
I was born right as this ride closed...looked interesting. But from what I've heard they'll be adding two new places to go in Star Tours finally! Something to go along with Captain EO!
I love it! Excellent job on this. I loved that ride and miss it. Stupid Star Tours replaced it and was a ride that was suppose to change over time with new films, ect. Still the same ride 22 years later, which was longer than Inner Space lasted.
Good job on this. Adventure Thru Inner Space is my 2nd favorite ride in Disneyland history (1st being the Mine Train thru Nature's Wonderland). Adventure Thru Inner Space was truly an awesome ride and I think I rode it about 12 or 13 times, including twice in one night once when there was no waiting line, I went back to the entrance and got back on it again. Tearing it down and replacing it with the inferior Star Tours is one of the many horrible mistakes they Disneyland management has made.
Nothing can ever replace the sights or even the Scents of the ride. I do miss the smell of the gear oil and grease. Lmao! But this is as close to the sights as I can ever get again, so......
This was my all time fave! I still grieve a bit every time I visit the park. I bought this virtual DVD and show it at parties and my friends totally LOVE this! Haven't they realized by now their blunder of removing it? Please Tony Baxter, this needs to be re-imagined and brought back! I keep hearing rumors about this, but you know how rumors go. Thanks so much for posting!! Peace!
We went to Disneyland this past Wednesday. During the "Fireworks Spectacular" show, they play a snipet of the audio from Innerspace. Good to see still a little tribute to a classic ride.
wow. I went on this ride in 84 or 85 when I was a kid...it was my favorite! I made my parents ride it about 10 times...good thing too because it was GONE the next time we went! :(
I still have to buy this! I thought I heard on Extinct Attractions or the DPN that the great Tony Baxter had seen your DVD and congatulated you on it. That's incredible.
Yes. Tony and his friends loved it. He used to work in the attraction long ago and knows the ride well. I have talked with him many times and is a really nice guy and very personable.
That's right! I almost forgot!! Paul Barry's huge archive of the isolated sounds were mixed to 5.1!! I still have all those audio files, back when we CMs were "bootlegging" (er, "file sharing") them and passing them around on cassettes (of course, now I've got the digital versions). Next month, I'm going to have to buy this, because my computer has a big 5.1 setup, and then I can relive my old pre-adolescent memories.
I bought the complete simulation that this video clip is based on, and it is outstanding. Anyone who rode the original will recognize this as "just like being there" -- or at least as close as can be had.
I like Star Tours a lot, but I do want to ride this ride. Maybe it could replace the ever empty Innoventions. It could be a new thrill ride version of the ride to!
I loved this ride when I was a young boy, it was so interesting and different from any other ride. It holds a special place in my heart. Thanks for posting this, great job.
the movies are taking over tomorrowland. what a shame. this ride was my favorite. this video is great, it also has the retro people mover on it. awesome!
This was one of what they called "dark rides" make-out rides. This was such a treasure....too bad kids today need more thrown at them. The voice you hear is the same man who did many voice overs for Disneyland including the haunted Mansion. His name is Paul Frees. He did many cartoons as well.
Even with the hidious youtube compression this clip is far better than anything Extinct Attractions has produced. You are my hero for bringing this attraction back to life. This was my favorite ride of all time. For a ride that was,for the most part, projections it got my imagination going. It was a ride where you could see something you've never seen before. Disney will never do that again. EVERY ride now has to be tied in with an animated project. Bummer for them.
i completely agree. Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse is now Tarzan's Treehouse. Submarines, are now Finding Nemo Submarines (Though I have gone on it and it is a great ride still). Pirates of the Caribean now has Jack Sparrow. Tom Sawyer's Island was changed to have elements of the Pirates of the Caribean movies.
Next theyll change the Jungle Cruise, to Lion King Jungle Cruise and the Haunted Mansion to Monster's Inc. Haunted Mansion or something stupid like that.
God, i remember how disneyland used to be so pure with rides like this...and peoplemover. Now it's slowly turning into flash and slickness to satisfy the short attention spans of todays kids.
Unfortunately, the idea of Disney being an ever-changing destination means that beauties like this will have to go. But as long as we have our memories and our imagination, well...
The idea behind Adventure Thru Inner Space was far superior to Star Tours. If they were to bring it back with up to date technology I think it would become an instant classic.
This video is spot on perfect! I remember this ride. I loved this ride. I wish you had recreated the whole ride...the eye looking in through the microscope, the throbbing red nucleus.
Hey John Lassiter, bring this ride back as high tech version like Indiana Jones.
I bought this and am always amazed at the level of detail. I wish you would do other rides with the same thought to the ride.
