I don't have the url bookmarked right now but someone pointed out how there would be an estimated $150,000 a year in revenue boosted if the corporate tax loopholes were closed. We're about as close to the "fair tax" as it gets, and a flat tax would probably even increase what corporations are paying atm, and tada, it doesn't work in any way.

exactly. Many of the founding fathers were "socialists" (they called it FAIR). Jefferson said he wished for "an earthly paradise paid for by the contributions of the rich alone". Madison sought to tax the rich & help the lower classes towards a more equitable middle.
And the ultimate irony is that Thomas paine was the biggest socialist of all. He thought everyone should recieve 15 pounds sterling on their 21st birthday and also tearly payments upon reaching the age of 50.

There is no such thing as corporate taxes. The taxes are factored in to the selling price of their goods. YOU and I are paying the "corporate" taxes. If the corporate tax rate gets to high, (We have 2nd highest in the world) it makes our goods cost too much in the world market and makes it much harder to compete with products made overseas.

Here's a breakdown on federal personal income tax.
Top 1% pay 32.4% Top 5% pay 53.3%
Top 10% pay 65.7% The Bottom 50% pay a grand total of 3.4% of Federal Tax receipts.
That means that the top 50% of income earners pay 96.6% of all federal individual income tax receipts.
Only moonbats think that is an equitable distribution of tax liability.
The liberal moonbats continue demagoguing the "Evil Rich" and the "Big Corporations" that don't pay their "Fair" share.

Yes, facts are stubborn things. The top 400 incomes in 2004 paid just 17%. There is nothing equitable about that.
And the wealthiest 1 percent of families owns roughly 34.3% of the nation's net worth. One of the great things about American capitalism is that it builds HUGE fortunes at the top. And, as in Jeffersons day, he thought that wealth added an additional responsibility. They SHOULD be paying the lions share: they have lawyers & accountants & priviledges we can scarecly dream of.

If I understand your opinion, you believe that the wealth should be spread around to all. What are your thoughts on spreading responsibility around to all? Eliminate the antiquated tax code. (all 68,000 pages.) Replace it with a flat consumption tax. The more one spends the more one pays in taxes. That way ALL citizens are supporting the government. What about personal accountability. If one does not prepare one's self to enter the job market, why should that become your problem or my problem?

No, I don't think wealth should be spread around to all. I do think the wealthy should pay their fair share. 17% is not a fair share. The wizards of Wall Street give themselves 100 million $ bonuses & were supposed to side with them because otherwise is "class warfare"? Give me a break. And really, the fairest tax of all is the inheritance tax, because it is on income YOU DID NOT EARN.
But the idea that the poor do not pay taxes now is erroneous. I would be in favor of changing the tax code.

What could be more fair than a flat consumption tax. That way the more you spend the more taxes you pay. As you pointed out rich folks spend allot of money on tax accountants to avoid paying as much tax as they can. Eliminate the IRS completley. Everyone pays the same tax rate on goods they buy(cars boats caviar etc) except on food and medicine. The rich buy more and therefore pay more in taxes.

Don't talk about things you don't know. As of now the senate race was so close they that have went into a recount. The initial status was Norm Coleman won, but as it stands the recount shows Franken ahead of Coleman, keep in mind though, the recount is unfinished and is still up for grabs. (I like to give the news without being bias like Fox)
