ah, that sucks. And cause of some stupid, inssurance thing!!! it's ridiculous!! they won't let me compete (except for that one meet, for some strange reason) because i'm not from morris county. They say, they have no proof that I know what i'm doing and that if i get hurt, i can sue for millions. so they just don't let me compete. My next meet won't be until february 2nd, at league championships. Hopefully, by then, i'll be on 15-foot poles, going around 15' (=
don't let that bottom hand collapse. Push up through the vault. Create your high bar to swing on. create some space between you and the pole. Certainly work on the speed.
Who ever said would be bad? If they say that they're F'ing morons. Sorry to say, but watch some of the elite vaulters. You'll see that hand in front of them look like it collapses but it doesn't. They soon push up with that left arm thus creating a high bar for them to swing on. I'm saying push up, not straight in. Straight in will kill the energy that you put into, but by pressing up you encourage upward motion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but show some proof.
I always try to "push" the pole away from me, but it sounded as though you meant I should blockout, with my bottom arm. I agree with you, that that would kill the energy. My mistake, for misunderstanding you. What i'm confused with, is: how does something LOOK like it collapses, without actually collapsing??
6P: I actually marvel at your plant... it is excellent. It is definitely the best part of your jump. You are taking off free (for the most part), and may even start to be able to occasionally (almost accidentally) use a pre-jump within the coming months. I keep mentioning that your run needs work, and I will mention it again... YOUR RUN NEEDS WORK! You need speed! The action at your midmark looked okay, and that goes with your outstanding plant, but speeeeed!
I know you were getting over being sick, but still, from 6 you should be able to get a little more. What running drills do you do again? How often? I'll PM you about that maybe, and I guess I'll check your blog for that. I really think you should post the link. This stupid character count is no good for me... I'm a blabber!
In case you don't: Yes, the trail-leg is screwed up, and so your extension suffers. You do manage to get into a nice position, and maybe could've gotten more that day...
thats really funny you the westfield kids. hope your doing well joe.

my bottom arm moves freely, with the pole. I don't apply any pressure that will effect its natural movement. that'd be bad

Hey joebro391, greetings from Germany. Nice jumps and a good basis to improve. One Tip. Uphill-Runnings as much as possible. Helped me very much.
My vaults are from 1983. Long time. Good luck.

What exactly is a 'left left'? ;)

HA, are you kiddinh me? i could do 13' from 4 lefts! Possibly 3!
I haven't really been doing any running drills cause of the poor weather, aside from regular sprints, bent on fast cadence/short stride-length.
Yea, i like my take-off too, i just wish i could pop that drive-knee up EVEN more.
After that, next thing i'm really gonna work on is swinging my left leg, LONG!!
now i'm gonna go read my emails haha. peace
