  • Im pretty good at hypnosis now but have a question. When i do suggestions, my subject seems to be completely focused unlike this video where as your client seems to be well awake. He also forgets everything that happens. Do i have to tell him he is aware and awake to get the result you did?

  • You're brilliant atthis, really awesome! I want to be able to work and study, and not use the computer as much and not be as lazy, do you have a technique to help me achieve this? That would be the best :) once again, great work :D

  • Thank you for posting these videos even though they are not directed at me I find them very relaxing.

  • I wished i could be hypnotized. i could really use this for so many things to better myself .

  • The only problem I have with hypnosis is that every demonstration I have seen looks like a parlour game, and alongside this, clients are never induced to do anything exceptional.

Even in this demonstration the client doesn't respond vigorously to the trigger words, it suggests to me there are limits in the usefulness of hypnosis to the client.

I'm looking to make a significant change in my personality, how much can be achieved with hypnosis?

  • The video demonstrations posted here are meant to be visual aids to help students learn hypnosis and to help introduce the general public to hypnosis via informative and occasionally amusing/entertaining videos.

Thank you for posting your comments. You have asked a very good question. In order to answer you appropriately and thoroughly, I have written you via YouTube email because there is not enough room in the comment area to answer in such detail.

  • To learn more about how hypnosis can be applied for self-improvement, I invite you to visit my website at ParadoxHypnosis(dot)com, where there is information on the various ways hypnosis can be used to help you.

  • Educational. It's interesting to note how you use your voice and body language to help invoke a sympathetic response from your client.

It makes me realise that people are implicitly doing this kind of thing all the time in their interactions with others.

  • hm. that's interesting! do these suggestions erase themselves over time, or do you have to hypnotize him again to undo the commands?

  • Suggestions can linger perpetually in various ways, depending on (but not limited to): (1) the type of suggestion, (2) the way the suggestion was delivered to the client, (3) the depth of the client's state of hypnosis when the suggestion was given and (4) the level of suggestibility of the client. Therefore, it is always best to remove any recreational suggestions before the end the hypnosis session.

  • i would think in regards to jon that its not so much about speed that makes hypnosis important. It where it takes you i mean. Looking at some of your other videos opening up someone mine can help them with physical fitness and other important things. Most important thing i think is the experience you get out of a session so i think speed would ruin this kind of style of hypnosis

  • If you already tell someone to focus on red spot why is it necessary to do all the other stuff?

Isn't he hypnotised around 30 seconds... he looks it to me but then of course I wasn't there.

  • John, eye fixation is a basic induction that can help a client enter the state of hypnosis rather simply and quickly, but lightly (without additional work). However, the point of this video is to demonstrate a different type of induction that goes beyond eye fixation.

Traditional approaches to inductions begin with eye fixation (EF). Although, it is not necessary to use EF, it is considered an appropriate base on which to build many types of effective inductions.

  • Often clients enter a light state of hypnosis much faster than hypnotists realize. But this initial state might not be adequate for what the hypnotist wants to accomplish. For example, the initial goal of the hypnotist might be to guide the client to a state of somnambulism, or to establish a moderate state of hypnosis or to demonstrate/teach hypnosis (as is the case with this video--a demonstration).

  • I agree about the eye fixation the questions is does that in and of itself actually cause the hypnotic connection - for years Braid didn't use anything else, and indeed until Erickson it was the accustomed way to induce. I think that the words after the "stare at the spot" is actually a deepener rather than an "Induction". It's interesting to think when the hypnosis actually occurs.

  • When analyzing inductions technically, every induction (even a rapid or instant induction) is comprised of the initial moment of hypnosis followed by what could be deemed as deepeners. However, the entire process is called an induction. For example, the traditional Progressive Relaxation Induction is comprised of eye fixation followed by a long series of deepeners (relaxing each body part); yet the entire process is called The Progressive Relaxation Induction.

  • Although deepeners are integral to inductions, most people reserve the term "deepener" to refer to the various techniques used after the proper induction is completed. So, one might choose to use the "Progressive Relaxation Induction" followed by a "staircase deepener". When talking about hypnosis (non-technically), most don't refer to the progressive relaxation portion of the induction as a deepener, because it is the induction itself. The staircase visualization would be called the deepener.

  • I like to watch these videos, I follow your suggestions and feel relaxed :)

    Keep up the great work!

  • Terrific video.

I am still having a hard time with post hypnotic suggestions.

How long would those anchor words continue to provide the effect?

did you have to remove them after? or do they just fade away?

Any help on info on this would be great.

    thanks

  • I see what you mean by metaphore, or perhaps even code. I think where I get puzzled, is in terminology, "deep" for example, what's deep? If we go any deeper, we will be on the other side of me and in China. LOL I'm observant about language, and often end up confusing myslef more.. My interests were always in self improvements of some type, stop smoking, improve something, etc. Thanks , for your comments above on ethics, as theatrical stunts, and domination is a turn off.

    Fasinating stuff!

  • My fascination with hypnosis is exactly what got me to learn more about it. If you are interested in hypnotic/persuasive language patterns, hypnosis, motivation, and self-improvement, I recommend that you join my Hypnosis Newsletter at: KC2XL(dot)com.

My newsletter provides information and discussions about using hypnosis, language patterns, hypnosis classes, hypnosis training DVD's and more.

    Enjoy!

  • That was pretty good. The young man seemed to be very amiable. It is interesting how so much of what you say in induction is pretty much of the wall nonsence for regular conversation, followed with an outburst command of "SLEEP". I guess the subject figures you are somewhat in control to start with.

    Great video.

  • Thank you for taking time to write your comments. I appreciate the positive feedback and observations.

Conversational hypnosis appears to be general conversation, but there is far more going on. For example, none of what I say is nonsense. On the contrary, most of it is metaphorical. Notice that my client enters the state of hypnosis long before I say the word "sleep." This is because he is subconsciously reacting to the metaphorical language about entering the state of hypnosis.

  • You're funtastic. Love your voice. Do you ever run any seminars in Europe?

  • Thank you! Yes, there are things in the works for Europe. If you would like to stay informed of when/where I will be teaching and which of my hypnosis training products (DVD's, books, etcetera) are available, then I recommend that you join my Hypnosis Newsletter at: KC2XL(dot)com.

  • Ive have done it. THank you very much. I have finally hyypnotised someone enough to plant post hypnotic suggestions. I bought the book you suggested and it was a great help. I think I had a few negative beliefs about hypnosis I had to over ride before I could do it but self hypnosis does wonders. thanks you for all your help. and keep up the good work. cheers

  • Excellent! Congratulations! Please keep me posted on how you're doing with hypnosis.

  • I enjoyed your presentation. It was effective and informative without being cruel or demeaning, as with so many stage show clips. Have you any videos that directly address Ethical Hypnosis? I would like very much to see some.

  • Hiya KC, sorry about the "Are you the hypnotist in the vids" question. I've been watching a lot of vids lately, where people are uploading them as their own. Anyway, thanks for these vids, and keep up the good work. I've subscribed :)

  • maybe i didnt deepen it enough. I was wondering can you do the stage style suggestions on all people. or is it only sobnambulist that you can do the funny suggestions on after being hypnotised only once. any tips would be much appreciated

  • Traditional, long, stage-style inductions can be used at any time, but they are not efficient when used one-on-one unless you are just learning inductions. In simplified terms: A traditional stage induction (usually progressive relaxation) is meant to help a large percentage of the population enter into hypnosis.

Progressive relaxation, Elman and traditional stage-style inductions should be the inductions of choice when a hypnotist is just starting out (Continued below)

  • Once a hypnotist has mastered the basics of hypnosis and can consistently hypnotize people using progressive relaxation and the Elman induction, then (and only then) should a new hypnotist begin working on rapid and instant inductions.

You can give stage-style inductions to anyone who has entered a medium (or deeper) level of hypnosis and is fit enough to perform the suggestions (always ask whether your volunteer has injuries before making them do overly physical work). (Continued below)

  • Although it is archaic, the Davis-Husband Scale is a good tool for systematically learning to identify adequate depth of hypnosis before proceeding to more fun (stage-style) suggestions. This will help you learn when to deepen the hypnotic state to get to the results you need.

Learn ethical hypnosis; stay away from suggestions that might conflict the volunteer's moral values; stay away from therapeutic suggestions (unless you are certified to legally practice hypnotherapy). (Continued below)

  • Keep in mind that that depth of the hypnotic state is not the only factor that determines whether or not a client/volunteer responds to your suggestions in ways that you expect. You must clearly and properly deliver the suggestion to your client/volunteer. Best of luck! Keep me posted on your progress.

  • Thank you very very much. finally some good advice for beginers.I shall look into this Davis Husband tool and shall practice doing progressive relaxation inductions first. I will join your news letter. And I cannot thank you enough. Thank you.

  • My pleasure. Start with progressive relaxation then move to the Elman induction (also refered to as the "Relaxation Method" by Ormond McGill). You can find good instrctions for both of these inductions and a copy of the Davis-Husband Scale in The New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism by Ormond McGill (ISBN: 1899836020).

  • Ive heard of that book Ill definetly get it now. Thanks for that. it might be a while but ill definetly keep you posted.

    Thanks again mate.cheers.

  • ahhhh finally decent information, that scale really helped, the only problem i have is finding people to practice with =/, and even if i do, after we finish, they won't let me try again with them, any ideas, the only suggestion i use to test if they r faking or not by saying their arm goes numb with a certain motion and unnumb with another kind of motion.

  • I also explained to them that it isn't mind control but that they just are more acceptable to suggestions and they will be aware of the entire thing and are in control throughout the thing, any idea why they are afraid of it?

  • If everyone you hypnotize won't let you do it again, then you're probably doing something consitently (without knowing it) that is either:(1) severely breaking rapport with your volunteers or (2) compounding/establishing fears.

In order to properly coach you, I would have to observe you in action. I recommend video taping yourself and studying yourself, or post a private video and have me review it. Record the entire session (everything you say to the volunteer--from hello onward).

  • Hey KC2XL I love your work. I am beggining in hypnosis. I have read lots on the subject and I have even been able to put people under using a rapid induction. but i have yet to plant any suggestions like when i click you instantly go back to this state.

  • Lots n lots of Flowers -Yes!

    hehe

  • wow you're really good!

  • Nice demonstration!

  • You are a complete pro man. You do it with so much style and its just, better than all the other methods.

    Good Job!

  • Great vids

I love your style of work, I am interested in how you learnt hypnosis,

do you mind if I ask can one really learn through books or is hypnosis something that can really only be learnt with college tuition? does this require a degree in psychology? In New Zealand theres a few places but most are very expensive

you will find what most of us already know

if you were to create an instructional DVD on Hypnosis it would be a great hit.

  • Thank you. I learned hypnosis on my own and then took classes to round-out my understanding of hypnosis.

You can learn a great deal from reading about hypnosis, but you must practice what you learn--over and over again.

Taking classes will help sharpen some of the techniques that you might have missed or misunderstood when reading about it.

If you plan to use hypnosis professionally, you should invest not only in books but also in good, reasonably priced classes.

  • random question for rookie.. i have only ever been hypnotized by myself (self hypnosis) and i want to try hypnotizing some friends.. i know it can be dangerous when dealing with suggestions on a hypnotized person.. anythings i need to watch out for.. and if starting out, should i be expecting results?

  • Before you hypnotize people, I suggest that you do a bit of studying if you haven't done so yet. I recommend The New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism by Ormond McGill (ISBN: 1899836020). Continued below...

  • The following is not an exhaustive list. I recommend that you stay away from:

    1. Amnesia

    2. Pain control

    3. Any subject that would normally be handled by a psychologist, doctor or medical professional

    4. Inducing strong emotions (anger, sadness, etc.).

    5. If you use imagery, stay away from things about which your volunteer harbors an intense fear/phobia.

    6. Do not attempt to make your volunteer do anything against his/her religion, morals, ethics, etcetera. Continued below...

  • Always remove suggestions at the end of the session and check your volunteer thoroughly.

    Some more considerations:

    1. Never let a volunteer fall without a proper spot.

    2. Do some reading about abreactions. This could be frightening for you and all observers and dangerous for your volunteer. As a beginner, You might not learn everything about abreaction immediately, but you'll at least be informed.

  • To answer your other question: Yes, if you take the time study hypnosis thoroughly, you should expect results. If you attempt just to copy what you see in my videos without understanding the ideas and techniques, then you will not have learned enough to do hypnosis correctly or consistently.

  • I recently saw your videos and I have to say they are amazing! I do have two questions to ask you. Do you know when you'll have your own site up? My other question is does hypnosis work better on kids or adults?

  • Thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying my videos. The first version of my website will be up by the end of February (End of Winter 2007/8). There are already several pages of the site done. Once it is all completed, the entire site will be released to the public.

Of the two groups, children tend to go into hypnosis more easily. However, many adults drop deeply into hypnosis just as quickly as children--some even faster.

  • One more question, will your site explain the basics and/or advance ways to learn hypnosis?

  • very very impressive!

  • Nice videos , you really know how to do this stuff ,u must have read a lot of books about hypnosis

  • do you know why you keep doing that? No? Well i need you to put your hands together like this again and SLEEP! ... completely and fully - deeply, down... --- Textbook man, love the vids

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you very much I love your work. Cheers Mate

  • KC2XL May I ask was this the first time the guy was hypnotised.

  • Yes, this is the first time he had been hypnotized. Please keep in mind that there is far more to hypnosis than using a random induction or a series of "tests." I used this type of induction for Ryan (the person hypnotized in the video) because, while chatting with him, I found that he reacts well to non-threatening imagery and associations (metaphors).

  • KC2XL - can suggestions be made to train harder, change attitude or stop feeling depressed or even feel no back pain if one has back pain?

  • Yes, suggestions can be made for all of what you mentioned. When dealing with pain management, a hypnotist must get a formal, written release from both the client and the client's treating physician. Otherwise, the hypnotist/hypnotherapist could be held liable for negligently masking/eliminating pain that would have been an early warning sign (or possibly the only indication) of a critical health issue.

  • Im very paranoid, so i try to keep suggestions simple. I'd never trust myself to help people with something complex, or even something slightly more than simple (unless I get the text prewritten in a book). I just use it to entertain and understand. and

  • Excellent video as always. Well done.

  • Another awesome video KC. You have to be one of the best hypnotists i've seen on youtube, if not thee best. Thanks for another fantastic video.

  • Thanks for your kind words, jami3r00. I'm glad you enjoy my videos.

  • can we know what state you're in, I'd love to take lessons. You're sort of my consultant for any questions I have.

  • FLOWERS!!! lmao

  • At 3:09, after you said "Deeper down now", your subject can be seen to be entered into a deeper trance... Why is that so, is "Deeper" a key word for him...? Anyways, what is his name, and maybe include a clip of his interview after the session?

  • I would also like to add that I like your attitude towards treating each person, and you are always so happy in hypnotising someone...

  • At 3:09, the volunteer (Ryan) responds well to my saying, "Deeper down the path" because he has subconsciously accepted my metaphor of "walking down a path" as representing "drifting deeply into a state of hypnosis" due to context, etcetera.

This is an overtly metaphorical induction for demonstration. Metaphors that are far more subtle than what are shown here can be used effectively when creating inductions and suggestions—if they are tailored to suit your client or volunteer.

  • LOL....ur hilarious. I say if u spray paint them its gona look really good. Very urban like furniture.

I recently had a subject that teared ...first time for me. In you experience how common is this? Is not I was surprised or anything...I have read about it before...just curious about how many times you have seen this.

  • I usually find that my clients' eyes will get glassy and occasionally red, but it's rare that tears roll down their face when they aren't crying.

If tears are streaming down your client's face, immediately check whether she/he is experiencing a quiet abreaction, which you must address quickly.

  • nice vid KC...very good demo....but um....u need sum real filing cabinets! lol

  • LOL There's a 1.25 foot wide alcove next to my desk where nothing else would fit except the crates, so I used them efficiently! (I should spray paint them black).

If you find 1.25 foot wide filing cabinets, PLEASE let me know. I need them.

  • hot!!!!

You keep us all frustrated as I would have post suggested something else..grin

  • Another great video from my favourite hypnotist... I would like to go camping sometime... Haha...
