Stumbled across it, and just thought it was so strange I never forgot it. Stuff like that, weird, strange incredible stuff that makes me take a second glance somehow stays lodged in my head. It's strange, I can't explain it, but I do get a kick out of it, as it somehow comes in useful later on.
No it didn't change the genre Mate. See People like Us and before that Set of Six. However, it is absolutley fantastic and the best by a mile and anyone who says otherwise is talking out of their John Ritter. Herring is superb too.
Good call. People like us was amazing, and has done more with the faux documentary framing than any comedy since. Most comedies just use it as a filming style, and the actors virtually ignore the camera, until they do their talking heads bit... see Parks and Recreation.
i swear the office got material off this guy for the idea of eating a potato in place of an apple! i think it was first season and they make a bet to see if creed would notice the difference
he played at the pub i work in tonight. he was quality. and a really nice guy too. got chatting to him. one of the funniest men i've met. very underatted.
Does anyone know the name of the comedian on the same episode, I cant remember if he was on before or after, but it was a young posh guy who made a joke about ticks on the side of boxes of toothpaste, and he had a calvin klein waistband on, but just the band no pants!

Really pitiful. Quite like FIst of Fun and TMWRNJ as a kid but this just makes him seem like a Zoo/Nuts reader with a tiny bit of wit and understanding of joke structure. Shame that a few people still like him when his journey in comedy led him from Morris et al to The fucking Pub Landlord.
Shame he can't say the same thing as he does on the Menage A Un DVD; "Don't make excuses for him, he's done it before! He's done it with Bilko! He should have learnt... What a fucking cunt!" Cracks me up every time I hear it. It's not one of Herring's more cerebral jokes, but the word 'cunt' has never sounded funnier to me.
In fact, Martin is a serial offender here, having misappropriated roles from Spencer Tracy (Father Of The Bride), Phil Silvers (Bilko), Peter Sellers (Clouseau), Clifton Webb (Cheaper By The Dozen), Jack lemmon (The Out Of Towners), and Bob Hoskins (Pennies From Heaven). All actors that made parts their own. Expect to see him soon in Tom Cruise's role in Top Gun.
@quasarsphere I went into my nearest HMV today. There was a total of eight Lee Evans DVDs I could have bought if I wanted. Do you know how many Richard Herring DVDs there were? None...
@padraic2001eire You can only get Hitler Moustache in HMV, go faster stripes website is the only place you can get his other dvds, also there is more awesome dvds there.

It is reassuringly safe to watch such a comfortable, seasoned stand-up; he looks so natural on stage that you know it is all going to turn out well.

Ummm, did he not know that if you hold your nose, and bite into an apple, a potato and an onion, that the textures are the exact same.
Oh god, I sound like David Brent arguing over Spock..

Nothing original about The Office? What other than the fact that it completely changed the genre of sit com?
