Nothing's gay on Diorama. Diorama and Neon Ballroom had most class of all their albums I find. NB is more like black and D is more colourful. But both are very creative and beautiful. I must admit I liked the heavier times too (musically). And I'm also not a fan of most of the Young Modern songs. But I think you have to like a job if you do it your whole life. And if you're fat up with the old stuff as an artist because yourself and your life has changed, who wouldn't try something else?

well you do have to remember that nirvana was only breakthrough for like 3 and half years or so. Silverchair has been together on a major label for like 15

The more poppy they got the more fans they gained from the general audience and the more they lost from the metal-heads and such. I love their earlier stuff but I gotta say I'm pretty iffy myself about Diorama and Young Modern.

@fizzlemcdrizzle I now learned that. When I wrote that comment I was listening to their discography in order and I hadn't listened to Diorama or Young Modern yet. Both are very good albums, especially Diorama (it's become my new favourite album. But I still stand by my comment that they lost alot of they're original audience (but gained a new one) because of those albums. I have a buddy who loves the first three but hated Diorama/YM, but he's a metal/hard rock purist. I still love Silverchair.

But seeing them live at Big Day Out shows they still put on a killer show and I got into all of it :)
