Thanks a bunch mep, really appreciate it man!!!! I'm actually working on doing the more complete Las Vegas angle of the story to make it fully complete if you will. Thanks again!
@jfa42 You are welcome - I'll look forward to more from you. Anybody reading this with an interest in this subject - get this full DVD - it's really good and really real.
Good job - So many people know nothing about Chicago Outfit because of all the attention to NY and Jersey. That's due to Hollywood and the fact that Chicago Italians are often lower key and less flashy than the east coast Italians. There are still some embarrassing guidos but nothing like Jersey/NY. You could live next door to a capo for 20 years and never know it in Chicago. So fitting that in the movie, Chicago is never mentioned - it's just "back home".
you can find out more about film at jfafilms.com Will read that book. Bill Roemer makes Cain sound like some folk hero, what's up w/ that? I didnt know Michael was on Magnum PI, thats crazy. By all accounts he was a good guy.
@jfa42 Hey there - My wife saw my interest in this video and subject (my father was friends with many players "years ago" -) She ordered me this DVD as a surprise birthday gift - it was really great. Nice job on making it different and more personal. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer because it was so good. Keep up the good work and I'd like to see you do another one of these on the rest of the Chicago outfit.
No problem. Thanks for the info too. You saw the Image Union airing? Awesome! It started as a short piece on IFC/bravo then did a longer version for wttw... It was on netflix (talk about jagoffs) but they let the copies run out, but it's on amazon and ebay. I did write a great script about the outfit but these jagoffs in hollyywood wanna keep making there trash! i can send you a copy no problem.
Sorry for being foul mouthed and disrespectful you are one of very few people in here who knows what he's talking about seriously write a screenplay there hasn't been a good mob movie since 1995 I think you're the guy to change that
If you made this video you are extremely talented sir you should consider writing a screenplay I know people on both sides who would be happy to talk to you seriously if you made this you got talent and you want. To talk about tough try growing up in comiskeys shadow being a cub fan lmao read jeff cohens book he's a tribune reporter excellent writer
Here's something you will find hilarious jfa at least I thought it was funny did you know Michael spilotro appeared on a episode of magnum pi playing a FBI agent lmao ah the irony apparently from what I understand mike was a good kid easy going laid back it was Anthony who got him killed Michael was under the impression that Anthony got an ok to do what he was yeah i really don't consider Cain a cop he was a crook and a disgrace to the badge he put the r in cook county
If you made this how come the whole thing isn't there and why is it from bravo I saw this on wttw 11 PBS on a show called the image union which is for aspiring filmmakers I haven't been able to find it since yeah I know dick he was one of Sammy giancannas boys made his bones breaking into ups warehouses and boosting trucks
I get it!! I assure you, I know chicago (altho I'm not a southside guy) and I know many of these guys I've mentioned personally which is how I was able to do the film. The whole reason I did it is cause it's always about NY. I do believe Pileggi did his homework tho. btw, ever heard of "Dick Cain"? we can pm if ya want...
At the trial for nicks testimony anyway thanks for posting the video but if you really want to have this conversation we can I'm not really one for bickering back and forth on the Internet
Oh really jfa where are you from jerk off I grew up in Bridgeport I know of which I speak accardo was the boss Joe Amato Joe divarco and James torello Joey aiuppa al pilotto jack cerone Joe Lombardo Jimmy by the way assfuck nick frank calabrese Ronnie jarret and fecaroota were the hit squad for the Chicago crew present at michael and anthonys killings in bensenville were nick calbrese fecarotta marcello Louie Marino and Louie eboli I live here I grew up in that neighborhood I'm a cop and I was
I'm not sure you know what you're talking about: Joey Feriola, Joey Aiuppa, Fifi and Frank Buccieri, Jackie Cerone, Tony Spilotro, Frank Cullotta, Angelo the Hook La Petrie, Milwaukee Phil Alderisio, Lenny Patrick, Gus Alex, Herbie Blitzstein these were the real players in the "outfit" at the time...
As for pileggis book that dudes from fuckin new York he doesn't know shit about the Chicago outfit read jeff cohens book a thousand times better Anthony Doyle paul shiro frank schweiss nick calabrese Jerry ferracotta some fucker from new York wouldn't know about those guys and I'm probably the only one in here from Chicago who was Ronnie jarrett mother fuckers don't see any of you idiots mentioning him why cuz you ain't from here
remo gaggi is aiuppa who ran the mob for accardo at the time, the guy in the burgundy shirt is probably balisteri or even nick civella from kc because piscato the underboss who is bugged and has heart attack is carl tuffy deluna underboss of kc
Nicky Santoro's lawyer in "Casino" (you see them in the scene when they were walking together on the courthouse steps with the media) was in actual life, his real lawyer..and went on to become the Mayor of Vegas. Its pretty cool to watch that split screen with the actual media scene..History Channel did it, Pesci looks so much like him, its hard to tell which ones the movie..
@Obelisk2290 yes, it was actually a spoof of the pen scene which was completely manufactured for the film... so the point if he stabs him w a pen why not nail clippers:)
Gaggi's a composite... If you read Pileggi's book he goes into the fact that Allan Glick (Phillip Green played by Kevin Pollock) was first intoduced to Balistrieri in Milwaukee to get the Teamsters loan. The orders definitely came from Chicago no doubt, but Balistrieri is a definite player who was mentioned extensively in the book as was fifi Buccieri. Accardo was semi retired by the time the early 70's rolled around. Read Pileggi's book for more info...
if you read Pileggi's book he makes extensive mention of Fifi Buccieri and most of it is translated to the film as Rosenthals' interaction w/ Buccieri whereas Aiuppa doesn't factor in as much. However, it would be fair to say he's based on Buccieri, Balistrieri, and Aiuppa. However, Balistrieri looks the most like the actor playing Gaggi.
This is not very accurate.

Remo Gaggi's character is based on Joey "O'Brien" Auippa. Auippa was Outfit boss in early to mid 70's. Tony Accardo was pretty much retired by then.

Balistrieri is not Gagi. It's Accardo if anyone. Balistrieri doesn't give Chicago solidiers orders, it's the other way around.
