I was sitting watching TV in a hotel in Slovenia when the propriet9or rushed in and switched channels shouting 'It's the Erro sonk!'
My puzzled expression prodded him into asking 'What's up, don't you speak English?'
It transpired that he was talking of the 'Eurovision Song Contest' and this, by contrast, made me think of Viv. 'On the whole' I said, 'I'd rather watch the Bonzos.'
Haven't seen this for a while. Fantastic to see it here !! 5 gold stars to those responsible. THANK YOU SO MUCH for keeping the memory of Vivian Stanshall alive.
Not forgetting Johnny Plee for the great intro and the original BBC team for actually recording it in the first place! I LOVE it very much - it's heaven to see and here it again.
He was part of my childhood with "Do Not Adjust Your Set". Maybe if the "national treasure" label had been given to him earlier, it might have helped him overcome his demons.
i think that innes really wanted to be close to viv again, but was too different to understand in the end. neil was, and is, professional, where viv was, well, viv.
Am just reading _Ginger Geezer_ and don't think anyone can really blame any of Stanshall's friends for their personal decisions in this regard. Continued support can just end up facilitating the downward spiral, and alcoholics can destroy many lives besides their own.
