first, i'll list the bands that i disapprove of; then, i'll go through the bands i've seen live and tell you what i think of them; lastly, any remaning bands i respect, i'll list. [this will be a 2 or 3 parter].

i agree with you. im not too sure where voxtrot are from, but im guessing not from england, as theyre actually decent. uk music at the moment is awful, and supported by idiots who used to be chavs but turned "indie" because its the new cool. The UK needs some decent bands or all good indie music is gonna be dominated by the americans/canadians/europeans and we'll go back to been a laughing stock.

Umm, Voxtot is from Austin, Texas. And I LOVE English Indie music... In the US, it's really not the new cool, its more like wth, why don't you listen to the pussy cat dolls? haha, and American music usually does suck- rap for example.. But, there are good bands like the decemberists, the killers, voxtrot, yeah yeah yeahs, etc. The UK has great music, most of my favorites- The Kooks, The Fratellis, The Maccabees, The Wombats, Dirty Pretty Things, and many many more.

i have to agree with the maccabees, theyre ace. i think its just because of the exposure in england. literally every new english indie band here is called the next big thing, and completely overhyped, the charts just compiled of indie music, tv show winners and bad american exports. i doubt its the same in america.

exactly: hype. or rather, OVER-hyped. and most of that is thanks to the NME [no offense]; they really hail every "new sensation" as the next band that'll raise a musical scene to the next level. ugh. in america, it's kind of the same, but more in the underground community; two years ago, it was Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, a while back it was Wolf Parade [from Canada],

now it's Panda Bear- but to be fair, his album was REALLY good. so yeah, it's kind of the same here.

well i suggest you make more of an effort and look into

bands and artists that have real quality to them,

rather than... The Killers. The Killers? really, do you put them in the same field as The Decemberists or Voxtrot- let alone a calling them a "good" american band? no really, i'm not being a dick about it,

but are you serious about The Killers? really.

I love the killers, and yeah, they were overplayed but they are as good as ever. At least I didn't say like, Fall Out Boy or something(Jeez they are awful):P. The Killers are just a great band because I love the fact they had that whole spiritual-type renewal thing, and I think that they are just a truly good band. And yes it was kind of weird to put them in with some great Indies....

to me, the killers are one of the worst bands ever to come together and call themselves musicians. they're a bad copy of 80s new wave/alternative bands, a copy that's been copied again and again. what they put out is pure STYLE over SUBSTANCE- a formula that should be the other way around; they don't care about making decent music as much as they do about mainting an "image". and yes, that was kind of weird including them with some notable indie pop acts.
