Why is it in America we require our police officers to pass a psychical and be in good shape but once they get that badge they can get as fat as they want and couldn't run down a cow never mind a person.how is it a bad thing to expect they stay in good shape.love the pooch and the horse just feel a bit bad for the load they have to carry.

@nooodles865 for (at least NJ) there is an annual physical fitness standard which is on par W/ academy standards. unfortunately most cities (like NYC) don't have such a standard unless they work for the ESU (SWAT) or other specialized units

I always think the relationship between dogs and horses is interesting. One of my dogs is a Cane Corso and he hates dogs outside his family, yet loves horses. It's really strange.

@vegas2990 I have a crack theory: When there were wild horses and wolves in Eurasia, horses must have been a regular food source for them. That doesn't mean he wants to eat horses, but that horses might smell very nice, foody and unthreatening, evoking a good feeling. Like people do who scent theirselves vanilla or chocolate or oranges, yet you wouldn't want to EAT them usually.

I don't think they're too overweight to be riding the horses they're riding - these particular horses are well suited to their size - and let's face it - an English saddle makes anyone's butt look big if it isn't very slim to begin with! Like people have said before me, much of the bulk is vests and such. But I agree, kind of heavy to be police officers?? Funny how that works.
