240p? Really? I love your video(s), but this awful, pixelated, ultra-low resolution footage is just PAINFUL to watch. Please consider an upgrade to 1080p? It would mean a lot to us loyal viewers.
Why risk winter? The question is... Why not? I ride all winter long as long as the roads are clear. I ride from Windsor Ontario to Louisville KY. in the first of March each year to see the truck show. The RT1200 RT (2009) is just the best bike I have ever owned and when I am ready for a new one, Well it might be a 1600GTL?
You are limited for winter, all depends where you live. If you have any ice or snow on the road forget about it. If it's cold you can wear thermal underwear and or winter gear. But you're on a heavy two wheel vehicle, why risk riding it in winter? Unless you live in mild climates like California.
I bought an RT brand new in mid-2006. 90K miles later it runs better than the day I bought it. I'd say it's maybe a bit pricey, and maintenance costs are a consideration. But, having said that... WHAT A MACHINE!!

I love mine. 800+ mile days are a breeze - and it runs forever on a tank of gas. Best bike I have ever owned, out of 7 bikes over 24 years.
I liked the FJR 1300, but I LOVE the BMW R 1200 RT.
If you can afford it, you won't want to ride anything else.

I rode one of these the other day when my R1200S was in for a service - I was blown away by it. It's considerably lighter and more fun than it looks.

I rode my bike in winter on with no windshield, fairing, heated seats or grips...very cold. This bike would be a dream to ride in winter!

Man, that's a cool bike! I'll bet they're dealing now that the economy is poor. BMWs commercial for this machine really makes me want to buy one.
