  • When they let this loose on the sand flats somewhere in Britain it was awesome. Not a very good opinion by the boys first up but the ended up picking it over the Jag and Chrysler i think in the end. Clarkson loved its ability to do endless burnouts

  • @newfaqs19

They're the small cars. Where Grandma's and teenage girls go to buy their cars. As for the commodore, name one part made in Korea.

Sticky taped together? You're honestly trying to put down a billion dollar production range by the quality of their seats, which are as good, if not better than the competetors. As for "Hold On"... Are you referring to the torque output of the current range? The simple thrill of being pulled into your seat and the adrenaline rush of having to hold on?

  • @newfaqs19

    The Barina yes.

    But everything else... No.

Please don't talk when you clearly know nothing about Holdens.

  • come to stralia! these shits are EVERYWHERE

  • I love this show and always get a laugh but it was Aussy machinery on show and I got very nervous! We got a great wrap and so we should, SHIT YEAH!!!!!

  • He called it a "fat aussie slacker" when he is clearly driving a Vauxhall it looks exactly the same as a Vauxhall and it even has the logo on the steering wheel and rims :/

Despite everyone thinking this and I know I will probably have comments telling me I'm wrong, a Holden Monaro has a better engine than a Vauxhall Monaro. Unless customized they're NOT the same.

  • @MagicMirror981 where did you get the facts that the engine is any different in England than it is here in Australia

  • @VNFormula I know a guy who used to be a mechanic in Europe. :)

  • @MagicMirror981 lol :)

  • Aussie brute f**k yeah !!!!!

  • They need to Scrap Top Gear Australia and let Top Gear UK do an Australian special.

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy YES!! I don't know why they havn't come already. It's somthing they just have to do or the show will never be complete.

  • @ThatAdelaideGuy ohh hell yeah man, lets get the UK top gear to do an Australian special. with our WIIIDE variaty of cars. commodore and fords. HUGE variaty. -___-

  • haha, yeah. I don't have the Monaro, i got the Brother VX SS. But people do not relise the cars we make, and how well we do it. American engine, yes. But we made it everything, and we made it cheap! Best thing about our Holdens is that the Air con actualy works! Because it gets bloody hot here! Any americans reading, Thank you for the LS1/LS2 V8's. But that pontiac...Is a Holden.. and your welcome. Oh, and take a look at our VE serise. ;)

  • @Kizza350 my uncle had a hq and sold it coz of rust, but it had sick air con i was told, too bad he didn't keep it till i grew up, i mean i woulve bought it and restored it

  • try telling any USAer that they drive Holden from Australia not a Pontiac GTO from United States of we-make-everything-better-then-the-rest-of-the-world!!!

  • what season and episode is this ??

  • where's the falcon? oh thats right they don't test it, why ? cause its a piece of shit that isn't good enough to export

  • @freedomsoldier187 The Falcon is probably the worst thing to come out of Australia.

  • @MagicMirror981 i hate all aussie cars lol

  • @124simran Why? You can get some really good V8 performance cars as well as family cars.

  • @MagicMirror981 yea but he acceleration from 0-100 is crap, there are usually hardly any luxurys & the handling is carp!!!!

  • @124simran Yeah true, but just like any car there is room for mods :P

  • @MagicMirror981 but if ur an everyday person u dont mod cars

  • @124simran I think a Holden is good reasonable priced car for the everyday person with all of the stuff you can get with it. But hey what ever floats the boat. :)

  • @124simran go to australia, get an aussie car and then u know why we have them

  • @BaberJacks i am in australia u idiot and i dont need an aussie car cos i have a 2010 honda odyssey which is way better than any holden or ford you can think of.

  • @124simran a hq holden kingswood v8 will kick you cars arse anyday

  • @BaberJacks does a kingswood have leather seats, seat heaters, separate climate control for the front & back, adjustable arm rests, foldable centre console or 7 seats?

  • @124simran yer you can get it in leather seats, and it will still kick your oddseys arse, they were built it back in the day where they actually made stuff to last, and even then it would kick your cars are without all the extras anyways

  • @BaberJacks I don't think so mate. I own an HQ Kingswood with a 308 (Standard) and they are as slow as fuck. Theres no way it would beat an Odyssey. In their day, nothing could touch them, but not now. Only if there was a hotted up Chev engine in it or a really worked 308. I also own a BA Falcon (The Holden v Ford thing is bullshit to me) and a late model Honda Accord. All 3 cars totally different. To be honest, I would rather drive the Accord around most of the time.

  • @payferrymen i opolize then, not gonna stop me from getting 1 some day, my uncle had one the idiot sold it a while back, fuck and now i want it. anyways, holden vs ford = bathurst (i pologize if my spelling is shit), honda accords r good, my other uncle has one, but i think ill go for the hq and do it up/do a resto on it

  • @BaberJacks No worries mate, you don't need to apoligize.I was lucky, I got my HQ as a hand down from my father,so I know its track record.Ive spent loads on it and its mint. They are a great car and if you ever get your hands on one, never let it go.Theres gonna come a day when they will be worth gold. Mine comes out of hibernation now and then. I use the Accord as a daily driver and the BA Falcon XR6 as a go away on trip kind of car (Ive got a car for every occasian LOL)Good luck finding an HQ.

  • @payferymen yeh if i get my hands on 1, i wont let it go coz there a hard find, and i just wished my uncle didn't sell his one foe 300bucks due to rust, and i was maybe 3 or 4 when he sold it if he wouldve kept it i would've bought it off him and fixed the rust and done a rest on it. too late now

  • @MagicMirror981 Not Quite. The P76 Leyland was the worst. At least the Falcon is still around. Mind you Kylie Monogue is up there.

  • @nodaterequired Leyland... Point taken.

  • @freedomsoldier187 holdens all the way

  • GO AUSTRALIA, CANT BELIVE THEY LIKE US!

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva fords suck balls and Holdens aren't ugly there just to sexy for your eyes!!!!!!! And that monaro is siik

  • Continued that is the greatest Australian muscle car and everyone that doesn't agree well u have probley never driven one

  • Finally they do a Aussie car and if they think that's great they should get behind the wheel of a torana

  • faggots....my vt calais supercharger will smoke them and there pommy poofy cars to the shitter.

  • go aussies!!

  • Anyone know the start song??

  • aussie rules!

  • Made in Adelaide!

  • Pontiac GTO it's the same car?

Corect me, if I'm wrong :P

  • @Mek00071 Yeah it is. It's also the predecessor to the G8. Holden ran a limited production 2 door of the Commodore and named them Monaro during the years 2002 to 2004 roughly. They hark back to our Kingswood ( 4 door ) and Monaro ( 2 door ) of the 60s and 70s.

  • lol i liked the ending

  • @aimtofire, I live in michigan right near detroit and the only thing i ever heard about when they brought the holden to the U.S. badged as a pontiac GTO was complaints about its styling/power/etc. Personally I love the thing but unfortunately the average redneck american with typical american taste in automobiles doesn't...

  • @treesleavedents maybe you should watch Holdens V Ford at Bathurst ??? ( its a track , as opposed to an oval ) , and they hammer the hell out of supercars ( well over 500 bhp , and NOT fit for average joe punter on the road )

  • the funny thing is they sold it in america and the americans hated it, dunno why its got a chevy V8

  • @treesleavedents I dont think they do hate them. my dad works for Holden's and they have been told that Americans wont a tun more as polices. Um 2010 holden Calais the highest end of the holden model range

  • @treesleavedents Not all Americans hated it, I'm one of those Americans that actually likes this car & wish they hadn't discontinued it

  • that's probably because it's ghastly to look at...

engineering and quality aside, australia, i must freely admitt, produced some aesthetic shockers...

if there's another australian in this thread they'll agree with me, AU falcon anybody?

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva get stuffed mate. some of the best cars made are from australia. amazing, tough looking cars. you prob like daewoo lanoss and cintron 2CVs.

  • "produced SOME aesthetic shockers"... "some" being the key word. australia has produced some great looking cars in the past few years, the BA/BF/FG falcons are beautiful, the VT/VX/VY/VZ/VE commodores are great too...

but when it comes to making the odd minger, australia has the competition sewn up. the AU falcon and the early-2000s HSVs prove my point.

...and no, i hate the two cars you listed. no need to be insulting. you always know you're irrational if you begin with "get stuffed"...

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva i dont find that irrational if what you've said displeases me and insults my countries car culture

  • lol, it's my country too, moron...

...also, i wasn't insulting anything, acknowledging that your own country has produced some ugly cars is not an insult, but "get stuffed" is. =)

  • @FormulaOneFan4Eva hence why i said it "moron"

  • its good to see Australia's Holden getting some recognition rather than Vauxhall. Australia all the way!

  • @mattomatty627 yes finally the australians have done someting and done it really really right , eve though its got an american engine

  • @mattomatty627 Yer im sik of seeing a Vauxhall when its really a HOLDEN

  • funny how top gear rabs on about ohh this cars good but crap, andwith holdens they say it's fantastic, and theres nothing wrong with it. GO HOLDEN!!

  • i was a huuge holden fan but i dont like how they out source their engines, gear boxes and then sell their final product off to have it rebadged and the credit dissapear. Turning into a bit of a falcon guy now cuase they atleast have aussie motors

  • @Paiste402

too late sadly as they will wrap up soon too, if only more holden fans realized how aussie the falcon was.

  • @beaudjangles

agreed everything is made in Australia, and you cant get it anywhere else and they run rings around commodores. shame the are going too

  • they had pretty good aussie accents except for the word "car" it sounded more mlike "core"

  • Not only are holdens powerful, they also have heaps of room. i'm about 190cm tall and can stretch out in one.

  • well thats that car fucked !!! y would u drive it on the beach then thru beach water ???

  • @boozedupbarfly Simple. it's not theirs :P

  • Its so simple! In Australia we do it the right way and our latest Fords and Holdens are making loads of power nowdays. I like American cars too tho but i personaly think Australian is better as our cars arnt to big but are perfect for a V8 or the xr6 turbo we got

  • @fpvshitsonhsv We're finally getting our act together with more powerful v6's and handling. However, in spite of the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger, we don't have many rear-drive performance sedans like you guys do. I can't wait for a used G8 (Commodore) or when they come back via Chevy...

  • @culcun For sure the 03-04 Mustang is one of my all time favorite cars but with a 5.4L conversion would be my dream. American v8s are great and i even like the big yank tank cadi's who couldnt. But i do think the VE well G8 and our Aussie fords do have a better shell for touring cars tho. Just you get a mix of a Euro saloon with American v8 muscle if you know what i mean

  • @fpvshitsonhsv we had your Holden for a moment (via Pontiac, the G8, as well as for three years your Monaro, our new GTO), but that is it. Ford has shown great promise here with the new V6 and V8 engines for the Mustang, but it would be nice to have a Falcon 4-door with the same engines. Chevy will have a Holden-derived police car, but GM is not as easy to get their police cars available to civilian use as Ford is. BTW, I did just sell a '80 Caddy, but it was slow with a 368 Cadillac :(

  • @culcun see that's why Australia is so great your cop car will be and is available to buy right now :)

  • @VNFormula I can buy a used GTO or G8 already, LOL--as far as the cop car; in a few years, police departments will sell them off at public auctions!!

  • @VNFormula Someone should investigate why you're such a fucking faggot.

  • @freedf6typhoon Yeesh, did sand get up your vagina, Captain Serious?

  • @freedf6typhoon lol wtf

  • @fpvshitsonhsv good to see your not bagging on holdens like another post i saw i love holdens and ford i cant see why aussies have to have the hate between each other lol we should join together and hate jap crap

  • @VxSlacker Yeah thats the way i look at it becouse at the end of the day they are just both as good as each other. Altho i wont lie becouse i dont mind giving my Holden mates a bit of shit but its all in good fun.Yes i do have Holden mates and i drive a Ford so they give it back just as much. Im proud of our Aussie cars as i think there great and but dont get the credit they deserve. Aussie and American cars either Chevy ,Ford or Holden are real man muscle cars

  • all hail the holden

  • a commodore hopefully will never turn out to be a european 1 cylinder piece of shit that does 9000 revs at 35KM/H in 6th gear downhill.

  • Its called the GTO in the US, and you can find them for around $16,000 used now with decent amount of miles on them. ;)

  • The car you get in the US is the equivalent to a standard Holden Monaro. This car is a HSV GTO/GTS coupe.

  • Welcome to the great cars we have down under. We take the American v8 and put it in a car that you can have endless fun in

  • In Australia we dont make sports cars we make muscle cars

  • holdens the way to go.....AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!! OI! OI! OI! ..... lol

  • @Geegor123 pft peices of shit they try hard to handle and fail

  • Australian i presume? Torana wasnt that liek a 80's model not sure, But hey the PFV F6 E thats a nice low profile 310kw car, not a sportscar tho haha

  • @mayhemSWG yer 280kw an rear twin turbo...V6

  • Ahha but a 4 door :O meh tbh if the Focus here in Germany gets the RS with 305 Hp on the front wheels, then car design as we know it has been blitzed lol, and the new torana looks like a berlina (if they made a new one) simply the commodores smaller brother.

  • But hey i found this on wikia, quite surprising.:

The Opel Commodore was an executive car produced by Opel. It is the six-cylinder variant of the Rekord with styling differences. The Commodore nameplate was used by Opel from 1967 to 1982. However, its lineage continues with the Australian Holden Commodore.

and next: It was the Opel Commodore that formed the basis for the first Holden Commodore in Australia, xD

I LOLed Essentially the Commodore is GERman LOl meh we invented the car so eh, :)

  • you invented a shit vt/vc version. its moved on alot. u made the name, actually its a kinda cool name. but man you are defencive, going through comments i have picked up that 1 you feel the need to defend your country and opel. 2 no aussies give a shit we made the commodore a good car from vc onwards and 3 what the fuck dude. chillax and the focus. yeah its bs you guys make a really nice car and they suddernly decide not to bring it over to aus wtf. like the forcus rs or somthing cant remember

  • Shit?? well for now standards maybe, but show me a car in the late 70's australia even had that came close to the Opel Commodore and yes Commodore is a german Rank in the Military, was once anyway, It was the S class of GM back then, Rekord was its donor model, But TBH im over this thread lol. The Omega was taken by UK and Lotus thought 'hey lets give benz and audi a run for their money' so the Carlton Lotus came out, The Omega A shape wsnt even in Australia :) Omega B however was (VT)

  • well said in the last few seconds there

  • lol. aus now designs the engines for us cars.. hell holden makes motors for europian supercar manufactures..

  • sure about that?

  • yep. the hq on the mainland does alot of work internationally. personally i think gm usa is holding holden back. and the aussies and europians are the ones keeping gm alive atm.. they have been showing a blind eye to what people want for 2 long.. and now look.

  • Ok smart one, Which European Car at all has a GM or fro that matter Holden engine? A opel is essentialy GM But no other vehicle here in europe uses a Holden motor nor Design, ie. Astra, Corsa, Omega, Vectra, VX220(Opel speedster) Those vehicles bear one thing in common the GM mother badge, nothing else no engine no chassis, the VT as we all know was copied or transfored from the Opel Omega a german vehicle.

  • @mayhemSWG holden aloytec moter 6 is designed an made in australia

  • The alloytech V6 is made in Australia, i know this, however its purely used in Australia, a 4litre or near 4 litre engine is considered ferrari Standard size here, or M3 or a Benz, That engine is not *green* enough for germany or europe, the Monaro got damn lucky under that pricetag, as so few V8s do these days in europe.

  • @mayhemSWG an the US

  • ha, then lotus made a car that looked strangly identical to our group a vk ss that brockie made..? , holden has a branch in australia that designes alot of stuff for alot of people no need to get defensive, just chill out, your monaro is one. infact i think we have just about everycar you guys have rebaged (from that era) apart from the little speedster, dont give a fuck who made it im just saying alot of cars are designed and most partly designed in aus and we do make motors for europe

  • yeah it would wanna be for the cash you forked out for the stroker kit but nun the less been in the cv8 and iam very impressed with how much power its got and how quick it picks up speed ide hate to get in yours if its got 500+ youd need some sort of carbon fiber nieck brace just to drive to the shops

  • @speeddemonphil1 .fast5fullofshit is talking shit mate, check out the comment i left him, you will see

  • Comment removed

  • @fast5os no you don't dickhead!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • ur fuch head i bet ur ford lover

  • the new 09 commodore is even better. its true we dont have that many car manufactures, but you can't say that were doing it wrong.

i honestly think that holden make the best cars in the world for there surprisingly cheap price range.

  • @wonderpuppet ur calling it a heap of shit?? if topgear says its a good car, then its a good car, they know more about cars than u do.. let me guess.. ur a f6 typhoon person... go shove it up ur ass nooooob

  • pontiac gtooo

  • ya man australia has the best cars in the world and im a aussie to man go the aussies and the holdens.

  • it is a VXR fast5 your should know that and im not an aussie

  • lol, its a holden monaro, built in australia and sold to vauxhall, who jsut re-badged it and threw in a few little extras.

    thats it.

  • its a monaro gto or a gts not a vxr they fucked our car mate and they sell gts and gto monaro and the cv8 monaro to in australia to and not the us pontiac gto the monaro gto ok

  • damn so vauxhall calls theres a vxr but the same car in australia is just a base model?

  • its a holden gto monaro not a vxr and im a aussie to

  • @fast5os you might want to start deleting your comments from the other channel, so no one sees your bullshit

  • Comment removed

  • @fast5os LMAO..oh if your where in a your night club you would kill me???hahahahaha too funny...you always use the fagot alot, i think that you must be a POOF!!! you got a big mouth but i doubt that you got any balls at all... the only balls you would have, are the balls of your GAY lover deep down in your mouth...

In your lies, you always say that your motor is a stroker.....you must do a lot of stroking in real life...you dont stroke motors you stroke men

  • if i was in a night club i will? really. please post your adress so i can mail you condoms.

  • that last bit Jeremey said was absolutely right. Go the Aussie's

  • see us australian's make good cars and no thats not a gm car.

  • I think that European cars are the best but australia has its moments of brilliance too.

  • @1994AaronSmithcars but its shares 90% of the parts of the gm car...

  • @feAr636 and a majority of those parts, designed in australia

  • @ncardw09 And thats why it was discontinued

  • @1994AaronSmithcars no huh , it has a chevrolet corvette engine it might be a mazda

  • @MrAlexprm its not a fucking mazda you dick it's a Vauxhall but it's really a holden

  • @1994AaronSmithcars dude didin't you understand my sarcasm

  • The best Car!! =))

  • American engine =]

  • ya and the 5L's are such a great motor lol.

  • :) they are 100% right about this car! it puts a HUGE smile on my face. i have the GTO and i love it. all my previous cars have been american, but this one feels so much different. it doesnt feel as crappy as normal american cars. it stays together. and it handles beautifully for that much power. all that and it STILL gets 19 mpg in the city. i drove for 3 hours straight on a highway drafting behind a truck and got and average of 35MPG. thats why i love this car.:)

  • The engine is only a tiny part of any given car

though we are grateful for your wonderful gifts

  • Calm down you fat Muppet! Americans make good engines and...that's about it.

  • You know why we use American engines?

Its cheaper to import them to here then it is to build a plant and make them ourselves.

  • why is it ford australia cant have a falcon in the uk.not good enough for us i'd say.

  • hahaha buddy, aussies built your pontiac gtos and your new generation camaros..... yanks just rebadge them.... if its balls to the wall, kick in the pants, screaming out of sheer joy muscle motoring your after.... Buy a Holden

  • even better buy a fuck you.

  • oh wow your hilarious an other gems?

  • Pontiac body? Mate, we make the body here in Australia.

...and to the guy down the bottom a bit. They did make a V6 Monaro, its a Supercharged version.

  • wow holden and aston martin have similr sound!

  • Pom's give me the shits

  • fuck oath.

Fuck all there austun martins etc id rather this any day!!!!!!

  • aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi

go aussies we make the car with raw power no shit wiv eco this n eco that its either go fast or dont go at all

  • Its just a corvette engine with a bootleg suspension and a pontiac body. Horrible.

  • Sorry mate, it's not a Pontiac body, Pontiac bought them from Holden.

  • That's a GM car

  • Yep cheap car good value for average joe,but I find them plain and trim is too cheap bit like belly buttons where I come from

  • There is no Australian version of the Monaro. It's an Aussie original. The rest are versions. Vauxaul didn't build them. Pontiac didn't build them otherwise they wouldn't have had to buy 60,000 of them.....which was the reported figure at the time.

I'm an old school Monaro owner. My last being a 1972 HQ 2 door. The HQ was the last of the real Monaros. The only true Australian sports car with the Aussie built V8s and I'm currently in the hunt for another one.

  • Ford falcon GT? GTHO series?

  • What about the GTHO? That's not a sports car.

  • Closest thing in All of Australian Motoracing History to being a road legal V8 Super car was the GTHO 2 and 3 the 1 was a mind boggler too, sadly Ford USA decided After buying so many companies that all need money to produce cars, that funding needed to be cut to the True blue Oval, such GTHO vehicles will never again be seen on the road :(((

Well In germany however it happened again :) Mercedes Benz CLK AMG DTM closest thing to a DTM vehicle on the streets.

    Greetz from Germany

  • It's still not a sports car. It's a 4 door saloon. The Holden Monaro remains the only true Australian sports car.

  • Ok OK under your Logic i bring a comparision, BMW M3 2 Door = Sportscar? but the 4door doesnt?, Same with Mercedes E class and E coupe, A sports car doesnt Need 2 doors to be a sportscar, the monaro was in effect a musclecar, which in turn All are 2 door, same with the new Monaro, But muscle liek the Charger or Magnum have more than 2 doors, or the Holden Statesman caprice with the Big massive engine Is still a sportscar/musclecar. Fine lines my friend, seeing as the Cayenne is a soptscar too :P

  • Traditionally a sports car only has 2 doors. Muscle cars and sports cars are 2 different things. The only Chargers I know have 2 doors. Holden Statesman is a luxury car. Not a sports car. Are you saying a limo with a big V8 is a sports car? My fathers Galaxy with the 390 V8 is a sports car?
