  • One of my favorite guitar riffs of all time, by any band. Look how far down the neck he has to position the capo to duplicate that ringing sound of the original recording.

  • Love those Harrison songs with John and Paul harmonizing...Taxman too.

  • Mind blowing!!

  • all right there lads.

  • When can I see you live in the UK (2010)? chris

  • @nchfgy11 They're coming over in the first week of September, slightly different line up, but they're in the Lake District on 3rd, 5th and 8th

  • Great George, excellent song!!!

  • These Guyz never cease to amaze me...SO WHEN R THEY COMING 2 CLEVELAND?? Their George (james) plays a C-series RiC 360-12 which is very expensive guitar...maybe he gave it a rest. The DANNO-12 sounded superb and I belive the DAnno also has Single-Coil Pick-up, so It nails the RiC tone. Nice Job. Stu-Eppi still taping you guyz ?? :) John

  • Thanks for the great comment. This was shot during the Cavern Beat's 2008 UK tour and James borrowed the guitar from the Merseybeat Legends guitarist, who were on the same bill on this night. I've got him aRiccy V360/12 ready for this years trip, and I'll be taping the shows whilst the guys are over here. I believe Stueppy has taken a rest for a while Best Jonty

  • Stu is coming over with the boys though isn't he Jonty?

  • wheres theyre drum kit and his beatiful rickenbacker 12 string ? :(

  • The Band were on the bill with the Merseybeat Legends at the Eldonian Suite in Liverpool, and used their drums and the twelve string for their sets. Sounds good though, I'll make sure the Riccy's in place for 2009, just for you

  • Thanks :D good information, good to know:) brilliant band, best tribute ive ever seen! no matter what they play with, they sound amazing, the 12 has a nice beatle-ish jangle to it :) and the drums are nice :) thanks for the info .. peace

  • Great version. You know, Harrison wrote this after listening to The Byrds.

  • I always thought The Beatles borrowed a little of the Byrds 'round '66 or so, but I've since read that The Byrds didn't use a 12 string Rick until they saw George playing one. Anyone know the whole story?

  • McGuinn saw Harrison playing one in the film A Hard Days Night, and couldn't figure out how he got that sound until he saw Harrison standing sideways and figured out it was a 12 string.

Since McGuinn came out of a folk background he was very acquainted with 12 string guitars and the sound you get with one, but this sounded different. Rickenbacker had strung Georges guitar differently. Thus that wonderful sound was born.

If I Needed Someone was Harrison copying the Byrds.

  • @Soujurn Good point. Give a listen to McGuinn's guitar riff on "The Bells of Rhymney" and then to Harrison's on "If I Needed Someone."

  • @skrason....In the movie A Hard Days Night George is seeing playing a 360-12 string Rickenbacker guitar. Look up either I've Should have known Better, If I Fell from the movie. That was Roger McGuinns introduction to that guitar. When he saw that movie. Either the same year or the following year 1964 or 65 Roger purchased one. George's guitar is a Fireglo color and Roger's is a Maple glo. I own one myself, check my video of "Honey Don't"

  • You've zoomed right into this pearlies! That's an amazing camera! :O

  • very pleasing guitar work...

  • Bless James!
