  • Could you do a PIR Burglar test if you have a PIR? Please?

  • Set 1234 as tempraty code for test or if some is coming over to your house

  • what brand of alarm do you have? is it just the ademco it self?or is it with a alarm company?

  • ouch! that siren must propell them! nice video

  • I don't know too much about security systems, but I find it interesting that the System Sensor horn makes a constant tone and not a wailing sound that changes pitch or a dual ting dong type sound, most alarms I've seen with internal screamers do that, much like what your keypad is doing.

  • Will u make a test video about motion detectors.......!?oh yeah on more thing...Nice house!

  • Will u make a test video about motion detectors.......!?

  • That could've called the police.

  • very nice house

  • Rofl wow the burgler will shhit his pants when he hears that XD

  • ADT= Another Dumb Technician

  • Get an Ademco 702 siren to add to your system, they are only 27 bucks. What that sucker goes off you will nearly mess your pants. Sounds like a police car on your front lawn.

  • its so loud!!!!!

  • NICE HOUSE LOL

  • i know the code it is 12347

  • @tornadocone The code he set was 1234. Pushing the 7 armed the system to Instant. I know how it works, I have a very similar system.

  • where do you purchase the alarm 01 FRONT/GARAGE DOOR? does it protect JUST one door or protects other doors too?

  • Dude , I loveeeee your house !! . What are the rooms behind your kitchen? i man like if you turn right from at your front door . Nice house reply please

  • my alarm show me CHIME BAT some buddy now what is

  • =[ sounds like an fire alarm only... (^_^)

  • i love those alarm commercials for adt were they have a guy who cares so much in that 24 hour center and the woman says frantically no im alright and its some trying to hard scary guy and the door is loose enough to kick open. cracks me up every time

  • If somebody wired a panel like that for me, I would have it removed! That is horrible. Take pride in your work!

  • Yeah, the guys who installed it definitely did a half-ass job, as the wiring throughout the house is just as sloppy (the company that did it is now out of business if that tells you anything). Since the video, I've replaced the control and redone wiring in the panel, so it doesn't look as bad.

  • Thank you for the reply! The problem is that people like you and I see this crap all the time. But people keep buying the cheapest systems. They wonder why they have problems. Thank again!!

  • My god how many retarded comments can I get on one thing... Why the hell would I use my real code in the video? Does that make any sense?

  • lol

  • @buhaw12 Actually you could, but just film away from the keypad.

  • lol why would you show your REAL code in public shows or videos like this? of course you would of change it to it's defult code. then after the video, you switch it back to your OWN code... =] not to be mean or rude. just telling you how it goes.

  • @jw1999jw

Jeff, 1 2 3 4 was for the show... Why use your real code and send the video on youtube?

  • Ahhh ademco vista a good alarm system i have that too so user friendly + low maintinence =)

  • his code is not 1-2-3-4.

  • It is unbelievable that you took me seriously.

  • @doglover101991 showed not should

  • @doglover101991 Most people aren't that stupid, so that code is only for demonstration.

  • You should hear it with the huge siren horn, sounds like a cop car and echos throughout the neighborhood.

  • you showed us your code i hope that code is for test purpose only

  • Nope, I just leave it as 1-2-3-4 because other codes are just too hard to remember.

  • can you rig a fire pull to a house alarm panel

  • A standard, non-addressable fire alarm pull is just a switch, so you could wire one to most home alarm panels. One exception, though, is that they cannot be connected to a 2-wire smoke detector circuit.

  • is ademco cheap or excellent?

  • @Maccrazy1000 excellent

  • beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

  • dude when u purt alarm on if u exit alarm gone noise

    how come??

  • You know you can arm instant mode by pressing # 7 instead of entering ur code and then hit 7

  • Yes, that's called "quick arming". I have disabled that on my system (programming option *21)

  • The alarm sound is quite content beeeeeeeeeep. Don't you think 7 tone alarm sound would make difference? Because you can easily over hear beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Did you install this yourself?

  • A basic system (Vista 10SE & 6137 keypad) was installed when the house was built 12 years ago; it only included door and window contacts. I upgraded it, by replacing the system board with a Vista 10P, and installing a new keypad, glassbreak detectors, smoke detectors, and additional sounding devices.

  • What security system would you recommend? Without the monthy fees. Also does the alarm on yours go off if someone breaks a window?

  • The most popular systems that can be self-installed are DSC, Honeywell, and GE. Each are fairly equivalent in so far a quality and price, so the decision should really come down to what system suits your needs.

  • As for glassbreak detection, you can either use shock sensors or audio glassbreak detectors to do the job. Shock sensors are very cheap, but you have to install them on every pane of glass to be effective. Audio glass break detectors run about $40-$50 dollars (really not that expensive), but are able to cover multiple windows in most situations.

  • @buhaw12 Are those audio glass break things prone to false alarms? Like if something heavy (not glass) falls over or something, would that set it off?

  • Which is better Ademco or ADT?

  • They're not equivalent. Honeywell (formerly Ademco) manufactures security systems, but does not install/service/monitor them. ADT does not manufacture systems (though sometimes its hard to tell because they slap their name everywhere they can) however they do install/service/monitor them. Many of the systems ADT installs are made by Honeywell.

  • do u guys not have honey well galaxy or menvier? ur alarms pretty ugly looking compared to the uk

  • Those are not sold in the US. Most residential security systems here are either Honeywell/Ademco, GE Security, or DSC brands.

  • oh right we dont have dsc so much, the design of these alarms just look really box'y and strange lol

  • I haven't seen any interior screamers like that one on the wall below the stairwell produce a constant tone like a smoke alarm, most of them produce 2 different tones.

  • Can you make a video of your external siren? (If conected)

  • What does Instant (button 7 probably) mean?

Does it mean when someone opens the door it automatically calls the central station? Can you unarm it before they call them?

  • Instant is the same as Stay except that any entrance/exit delays are turned off. So yes, if a door with a delay is opened, it will immediately alarm, and call the central station (unless a dialer delay is programmed).

  • But how do you get back to the house? Will they call you? Do you say Im OK? And do you know what MAX means too?

    Thanks!

  • You should not use Instant unless your staying in the house. Max is like Away except (again) the entrance/exit delays are turned off, so every zone is active. Max is not useful unless you have a key fob for the system, or unless you plan on leaving the house for an extended period, as the alarm will go off when you return.

  • What do you mean, "as the alarm will go off when you return."?

P.S. Sorry for a lot of questions. I just want to know my system features. :)

  • What "Vista" is that? Now, I read my user´s manual and my alarm is the Vista 15P.

  • What Vista is what?

To answer your previous question, by "the alarm will go off when you return" I mean that when you open a door on your return, the alarm will have no delay, and therefore start sounding.

  • Whoops. You already did.

    Cool.

  • I have a question.

Can you show us the fire portion of your Ademco burglar alarm system?

  • i dont like the alarm sound.. its kinda wimpy

  • dosent the police come when it rings?

  • Nice house.

But that noise would not scare me away, lol

  • Yeah I agree, the finished system has three of those mini-horns near the sleeping areas (mainly for fire notification) and a much louder outdoor siren.

  • Was the siren disconnected?

  • Yeah, see the video description.

  • if you were a burgalar youd probably be afraid of any siren. i know i would cuz you dont know if its hooked up to a central staion or not, i wouldnt want to stick around to find out

  • Yes one of my customers doesnt want a loud siren, so I hid the siren somewhere in the house. You can still hear it fine, it's just not deafening.

  • did you seriously just necro post a 9 month old comment? give me a break.

  • Nice House Certainly needs Security!

  • did wear ear plugs? if not can you stand the Piezo-Horn for longer time? nice house...

  • what do you mean wit that outdoor siren that is disconnected?.

  • Noting how the alarm says "ARMED *instant* You May Exit Now", I must wonder... how you you be able to enter if the alarm is set to instant, and goes off when you open the door? I thought, and please correct me if I am mistaken, instant was more you inside the home, as opposed to exiting of the home where away would be better suited.

  • Your correct, and you make a good point. It would make sense that Instant not have an exit delay, or for that to at least be programmable. With this system though, an exit delay is provided regardless of the arming mode, and so far as I can tell, that cannot be changed.

  • it's called a keyfob remote control

  • Let me explain, On all Ademco controls, an exit delay is provided on every arming level. And no, keyfobs can only be used to arm to stay and away, or disarm. Why? Ademco keyfobs use up hidden zones, and each button on the keyfob is a hidden zone on the panel, ie: 1 button on the keyfob is a zone, so you would set that zone to zone type 21 "Arm Away". AdemcoHoneywell 5800 series transmitter setup is very interesting, read into it!

  • Is this what the siren on the Lynx sounds like?

  • yep..my sister has LYNX and thats wut hers sound like when it goes off..that shit is annoying as hell...

  • Wasn't this house on the show, 'It Takes a Thief'?

  • Negative.

  • Comment removed

  • It depends on how many powered devices are in the system and the size of the battery(ies). Prior to my upgrading this system, we had an ice storm and no power for 4-5 days, and it never shut off. According to the manual, with a 7AH battery and 50 mA of auxiliary current (my specs), I should have capacity for 48 hours of standby plus 4 minutes of alarm. Should the system never go into alarm, it'd probably last another day, maybe two.

  • aren't the police suppose to be there when the alarm go off?

  • This system is not monitored at the moment, so no.

  • OWEEEEE it hurts my ears

  • I think you need to tidy up that wire in your panel. looks a little sloppy

  • Yeah your right, that was the original installer's work (security company called Rollins, since gone out of business). Since I did the video I've replaced the control (installed a Vista 10P) and redone all the connections... I guess I need to do another video.

  • you should make more vids of this system

show us what the chime sounds like on the 6160

iv got this same panel in my house and have 1 pir (but it broken) 5 door contacts 2 keypads (1 is a 6139 and the other is a 6148) and a wave 2 siren and a spectralert does anyone know ho many notification appliances you can put on this before you have to had a driver

  • A driver is only needed if you have speakers. This panel supplies up to 2 amps of 12 volt current for the bell circuit. Make sure if you are using a Spectralert that its rated for 12 volt use.

  • no i mean the speaker in the keypad on the 6160. on all of the other keypad there is a peizo sounder inside the keypad making the beeping sound/chimes. in the 6160 there is a speaker inside of it instead of a peizo sounder

  • That was my response to "does anyone know ho many notification appliances you can put on this before you have to had a driver".

  • oh my bad

no but you should make some more vids of this system

  • these alarm can open one door

  • Do You even have any PIR's or Glass-Break sensors?, Doors are not the only way into a property, Here's a few suggestions:

    PIR's x7+

Glass-Break Sensors, one in each room

    Microwave/Ultrasonic Sensors

    Shock Sensors on external Doors

A RKP (Remote Keypad) on each external door plus two upstairs in selected Bedrooms.

Do Not Have Pressure Pads as they have a tendency to fail after a few Years.

  • Like 1500 bucks? how expensive

i have an FTC SECURITY with one IR sensor and one door magnet if you place the sensor so that it covers all exits its enough

  • PUT A CONTACT ON EVERY DOOR!!!! What if you want to have the system on at night? You cant move!

  • Then youre an idiot just have a crowbar in your bedroom or AK-47 an when the come shoot! andv when youre not home arm it

  • Well, Obviously you'd have to program the panel to omit the zones for part set and the other upstairs detectors with it

  • 7 PIRs is really a bit of overkill, and adding additional equipment with any company is usually pretty costly. Brinks for example, door/window contacts are $75 each, glassbreaks $90-100, smoke/fire $150 each, etc. As long as you cover all the exterior doors, and maybe a glassbreak (in rooms with lots of windows) or single window contacts in areas that arent visible from the street, you'd be set.

  • it's not that much when You do it Youself however if You had a monitored and/or contracted system I can't advise on You installing it Yourself, Not only would You piss of Your provider but they would cancel YOUR service.

I personally think that it's a rip off and if I were You i'd get a system new or from flea-bay.

  • It doesn't matter which colours You use as long as they match on the other side from the panel (Other side meaning the wire to detector).

6 wires typically Red,Black,Blue Yellow Green and White

red and black are Your 12v 1A power feed

blue and Yellow are Your "ALARM" feed

And Your "Tamper" is Green and White

Typical Diagram but may differ from one to anothers choice same with ALARM.

Blue From Panel Zone C1 and to Alarm C1 on detector

Yellow from detector to panel ALARM C1

    -->

  • or ZONE.

    Tamper:

Same as ALARM or ZONE but it's for Your 24hr Alarm which will activate regardless of the alarms State.

Some cheap Systems rely on just one tamper circuit to cover the System, BEWARE of this type as they cannot tell You where the fault is located.

ALARM and TAMPER are basically an open/close type circuit ie: if You open or close the circuit, The alarm will activate.

Known as N/O or N/C, most are N/C

    "Normally Closed or OPEN.

    to recap

    ----->

  • Panel Zone 1 "Blue to "C" and Yellow to N/C, Then Go to detector and put "Blue"(Which is "C") to ALARM "C" and yellow to ALARM N/C then do the same with the Tamper circuit but use GREEN and WHITE, Green is the "C" and White is the N/C and there You have it, You have saved about $400 on an alarm System.

Simplest circuit in electronics, Now You too can turn coin or two with this knowledge.

Door contacts same idea, Blue to Brass screw 1 and yellow to brass screw 2 and twist the tampers together

  • Love Your House, Really Good Alarm

  • why you not record a safnsound alarm

  • my crazy apartment manger just replaced our 10 year old fire light system with the loudest wheelocks you know the one with the strobe on top and the horn below it kinda boxy

  • Ademco's styling is right out of the 70's. They have some of the ugliest gear on the market today. I much prefer the DSC line of security products. Much nicer looking in the home and at least as good as Ademco.

  • I guess you mean the keypad right... DSC's new line (new line only) does look good, but I disagree that Ademco's line is ugly; I like their simplicity. In addition all of Ademco's keypads have displays of some kind; both GE and DSC sell LED models that look both cheap and unattractive.

  • DSC is much more simple to operate, the LCD keypad I have from 5 years ago is way more stylish than any bulky ademco keypad, but my favorite thing to do is bypass a zone on an ademco system. It takes like 10 seconds for the "brain" to understand. DSC...split second.

    DSC all the way!

  • Mine takes about 2 seconds to bypass a zone, but who's counting (not to mention my system's control panel or "brain" is 10 years old).

And whats with all these Ademco bashers/DSC supporters being Canadian? I realize DSC is based out of Canada but still, they both are decent systems as far as I'm concerned...

  • I have an update on this comment... The delay you describe in bypassing zones in Ademco systems is by design. When the user enters their code and hits the bypass key, this delay allows for entry of multiple zones at once. This way, for example, if you want to bypass zones 1,3, and 4, you enter your code, bypass button, and 01, 03, 04 (instead of re-entering the code and hitting bypass button for each zone). [-> continued]

  • The user (if they want) can hit the * star key to terminate the delay and the system will immediately bypass the zones entered.

  • I should hook up my PA400W to my house alarm

  • That's EXACTLY what I want to do!

  • But I wonder if brinks would be okay with that...

  • Well, if you talk it over, I think they will find it acceptable. The only thing is if the PA400's sound pressure level rating is too low, like 85dB, they might not allow it. You might have to use a louder NA.

  • actually the PA400W is 95db @ 10 feet

  • Holy Sh*t! No wonder I hated fire drills in 4th grade! LOL

  • yeah it is pretty painful when it sounds especially with the rapid beeping they have

  • That's louder than a household 9v smoke! Much louder!

I am not sure if it is louder than a Spectra on 3000Hz though. When I fired mine up, it was loud even with ear protection.

  • ouch

  • Don't do it!! Brinks systems use built-in siren drivers. They don't put out straight voltage on an alarm. The "siren" is actually a speaker. Wiring a PA400 would not work. it might sound, but not loudly at all. Plus, with Brinks, you never own the panel, it's always their property and you are NOT allowed to make any kind of changes.

  • Brink's actually has in their contract that you can pay an additional fee ($500) to buy the equipment when they install it. If you do so, they still cover it in their warranty and you can do pretty much anything you want to it.

  • but still, you cannot make any programming changes to the system. so you're stuck with what you have, without the ability to add any devices. plus, nobody else can monitor it but Brinks. so, you are still stuck with a system that can't be reporgrammed. for less than $500, you can replace your panel and keypads several times over. that is no deal. you can replace the board and keypads for about $150, and then you can fully control, program, and change the system the way you want to.

  • Nice house........and system!
