It is unfortunate that combatants now use densely populated areas. That does not justify intentionally targeting children and schools and burning them to death using white phosphorous. Israel killed over a thousand civilians in their attack, and I honestly don't understand these wild and unreasonable defenses of such indefensible conduct, especially from people who should be more responsible. Why are they doing this?

@brabon1 Please back that up with factual information. Did Israel not deliberately target food production, water, sewers, and civilians? Did they not use white phosphorous to attack people? It gets a bit hard to make an accusation of 'blood libel' when we see the white phosphorous being used on TV, and when the pull out the charred bodies of young children on TV. Israel does not help its cause either by using these methods, or trying to justify them after the fact.

The report details crimes against humanity on both sides, and perhaps focuses excessively on Israel. But that doesn't mean collective punishment of the entire Gaza people is acceptable. Under Geneva conventions it isn't The destruction of self sufficience is collective punishment of the people, not a military objective.

Israel doesn't have a lot of friends in the world, and committing war crimes against an innocent population for the actions of militants they cannot control is not going to win it many friends.
